Grammy my doctor told me to eat 1200 calories in p3 :-/

Hey Grammy! I'm pretty sure I know what you're going to say but I want to clear it with you anyway.

I went to my doctor for my week 6 follow up today. I'm on vlcd 32 and will be starting p3 about a week from now. My doctor said for p3 I need to eat meat and veggies, stick to 1200 calories and gradually get there by adding 300 calories every 2-4 days. This means I won't even be at 1200 calories for at least six days. And then he wants me to stay there. He said no fruit and best to not do nuts or dairy either.

I think he's wrong based on what you've told me. But now I feel I need a calorie guideline and don't know what a good amount is. I can definitely eat till hunger ceases and be cognisant. But my brain automatically counts it's just habit. Do you have thoughts ?

He's wrong. You don't need a calorie guideline unless it's to make sure you eat enough. And 1200 calories isn't enough. You need more food than that. I can't really give you a number. It doesn't work that way.

One thing he said i agree is to be careful with nuts and dairy or eggs dont work for some. I ate two fruits per day on P3 with plenty of veggies nonstarchy protein and fats My calories gradually went to about 1500-1800 cal per day

You know the funny thing about this is that every round Ive done, during P3 I could not eat like that...I had to calorie count or else I would gain weight...I was really good too...no starch, sugars nothing...I used coconut flour, stayed away from fruit altogether, used truvia or xylitol, I had whole cheese, eggs, butter, full fat sour cream, avacados etc... and I would gain weight...I would spend hours in the grocery store making sure I wasnt getting something I shouldnt have...I literally had to eat a big breakfast and then no lunch and I could eat a full dinner but still sometimes I gained...I think everyones body is different and obviously for me, eating more on the protocol didnt work...

I've had many p3, where I failed all for different reasons.
    Eating too little
    Eating too much
But what I found out in the last two p3's- is that certain foods caused me too gain. Foods that I never had issues with before.
Currently, I can't have milk, any kind of cheese, no yogurt of any kind. But I can have cream cheese cooked in a cheese cake. .
Some veggies in excess cause me to gain too, like sautéed onions. . I can have them just not a heep. Same thing with bell peppers. .
If I have ANYTHING with sugar, I jump over 2 pounds over night. .wine included.
We're all different, you have to go with what works for you.
Oh, I can eat as many calories add I want, with the right foods

tomatoes are my issue...oh and colored peppers...green not so much but definitely yellow, red or orange ...and I love them sooo haha...I can eat cheese but I cant eat alot of it...I always do the whole introducing certain things into my diet ever few days and Im fine that way but then for some reason, I just start gaining weight. Ive never had issues with cream cheese or sour cream either
