    GRAMMY, HHHHEEEELLLLPPPPPP! I'm terrified!!!!

I posted on the old site yesterday and no one responded. I need advice, Grammy. I was down to 63.8lbs on my LDW from round 3. That was weeks ago. I had a tough P3....and leveled out at about 60lbs. I know, not within the two pounds but, I was ok with that after the P3 drama. Well, now, I'm gaining. I've been eating what I want on the weekends and trying to stay on protein during the week. I started out yesterday doing a steak day but, wound up going out with my friends last night.....had a steak but, also had stuff I shouldn't have eaten and one adult beverage. Today, according to the scale, I'm at 47lbs....yes, I know...and I'm terrified!!!! I am planning on starting another round in about 3 weeks...loading on a cruise for my birthday. But, I don't want to start the next round having to RE-LOSE 15 lbs!!!! I'm doing steak day today....no exceptions!!!! But, how should I proceed??? I'm supposed to be going to two parties tomorrow......should I just focus on protein? If so, please, be specific....what should I eat?????? I'm used to eating meat and cheese on those days.....I have some Jay Rob shakes.....should I do those? If so, what should I mix with them? I got some greek yogurt I tried last week and I had to make myself get it down....it was really nasty.....

I have not gained back a lot of inches....in fact, I'm wearing smaller clothes.....but, I can't stand getting on the scale and seeing the numbers go up!!!! Advice, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grammy is at a conference, so probably won't be able to help you for several days. From her other posts, however, I can tell you that she does not "approve" of the protein shakes, thinks that they have too many chemicals.

The numbers you give are a bit confusing, I assume that they are pounds lost, and you have, in fact, regained about 13 - 14 pounds from LIW and are concerned about additional loading weight and anything else you may put on between now and your next vlcdays?

A steak day is supposed to be done immediately after discovering you are over the 2 lb limit, but you may as well try to do a proper one today anyway.

As for the parties, I would recommend either eating plain meat as much as possible, skipping all dairy, or doing some combination of basic P2 foods, just more of them than in P2. So, avoiding oils, starch, sugar etc. Dr. S. says that several days of strict dieting may be necessary after a gain, if a steak day did not take care of it.

Whatever foods you have added in P4 appear to not agree with you - you could have some kind of an allergy to them, such as gluten. Stop whatever new foods you are eating, and go back to the foods that you have success with - the basic P2 foods.

Hope this helps you until Grammy can speak for herself...

Take a step back and review the situation (no, not the Jersey guy!).

Nola... first take a big cleansing breath and breathe!

You know what you have to do and that is eat on protocol. You're in P3, correct? If so, only eat P3 foods. That means NO 'eating what you want on the weekends, but eating P3 foods. No sugars or starches. Yes, do a steak day today--drink only water throughout the day and a big steak for dinner plus an apple or tomato. Nothing more, nothing less. In the following days, I'd suggest you do some protein days (100 g protein & salad/vegi each meal).

So, beating you with a limp celery stick, remember that you cannot go back to your old way of eating or you're going to gain all your weight back and more. You certainly don't want to do that, right? Right! You're not a newbie so get back on track, girl, and do what you know that works. Deal? You can do this; you just need to refocus a bit.
Think thin thoughts and it will become your experience.

Thanks everyone for your replies. So, P2 foods? Not P3? I am in P4 right now. If you don't think steak day is necessary, should I start eating some protein now? I haven't had anything today besides water. I am hungry but, was planning to just push through it. So, should I limit fats too? Should I only eat P2 veggies and fruits? I'm really confused.....

I was just trying to give you a rather drastic plan you could follow to try to get both the spiraling weight gain to stop, and to hit a safe menu to potentially lose as well. You said you had a rough P3, so supposedly some of those foods did not agree with you, but you have not really identified which ones? J Beanie is right, take a breath, calm down, and you can eat P3, but do you know which of those foods are ok with your body? I was suggesting you satisfy your hunger with P2 safe food, but eat more of it...

Thanks, KBJ. Rough P3....I didn't stay on. I had events that I cheated at....so, I had to do lots of steak and high protein days. I am a bread junkie...and yes, it is quite possible that I am allergic to glueten...just never actually had myself tested. I just have to get a hold on this. I live in New Orleans so, food is a way of life down here.....a hard habit to break....I usually do ok on maintenance because I can have the fattier foods and some dairy usually doesn't affect me. I also love drinking my TAB....but, I have been laying off thoe lately too. You think I need to continue the steak day or think I can eat some protein?

If it were me, I'd follow J Beanies advice and first try the protocol steak day - it certainly can't hurt and may get you back on track. On subsequent days, I'd do mostly protein w/ a bit of veg, no dairy, dressings, carbs etc. Good luck.

Nola, when I was in P4, there were 2 times when I was just over the 2 pound limit. I didn't do a steak day, but just ate P3 foods and the next day I was down back under LIW. I really think it was due to my having stabilized so well in P3 that my hypothalamus reset and therefore when I went over the 2 pounds, my body naturally went back to its new set point.

Having said that... since you are well over the 2 pounds and IF you stabilized well in P3, after doing a steak day, I'd suggest trying to eat only P3 foods and see how you do. Hopefully you've reset your hypothalamus and your body will want to go back to its new set point. If you don't drop back down relatively soon, I'd stick to protein days until you get back to LIW if you can. One thing to consider... supposedly you are to do a steak day the day you are over 2 pounds for them to be effective. I have read that if you don't, they don't work and you will have to adjust your LIW to your new weight. I don't have any data to back this up; again, that's something I've read. I also know of some eating high protein until they got back to LIW, but it is not a guarantee. So... try a steak day (and maybe an egg day too), then eat P3 and see how you do. If you don't get back to your LIW, you might just have to take your lumps and adjust your LIW up and maintain for the duration of your round until you begin another P2.

    Good luck!

Edit to say... since you didn't stabilize well in P3, you need to definitely stabilize before going on. So, same plan as above, but No sugars & No starches. That unfortunately means no bread for you for now. And yeah, you might have to up your LIW for this round.

Good girl. Remember this is a challenge for the short term, but soooo worth it in the long run. Get your head back in the game and go for it. You can do this. If this is your first round, you should at least do a couple of weeks of P4. Your choice, tho.

Thanks again. I have done steak days in the past to stablize even when it wasn't a marked day of a two pound overage and it has worked for me. So, having said that, I hope that tomorrow morning, I'm down. I ate a ribeye and some yellow cherry tomatoes. I have probably had at least 2 liters plus of water today. God help me if this doesn't work. Anyway, I plan to stick to my P3 foods til it's time for my cruise.....the no bread is not going to be fun since I usually look forward to the little breaks in between rounds when I can eat it but, it's not worth it to have this much weight back on!!! I need to ask though, what is your take on nuts in P3? And cheese? I bought some more almond flour today so, hopefully that means I can at least have a mug cake every now and then. And, I'm a cheese junkie.....so, I guess I should curb it even if you say some is ok. What do you think about greek yogurt? It was pretty nasty when I tried it with the jay robb shakes but, maybe to use for a smoothie with some fruit would be ok?

Thanks for all the advice! Oh, btw, what is Egg day???????????????????????? And, do you eat mayonaisse on P3?
