    Hi. I am just curious.
Why is MCT supposed to be used instead of coconut oil?
Is coconut oil, now not supposed to be used at all?

coconut oil is great for you but not in P2. But for the bulletproof coffee they reccomend you using MCT oil.

Shannon-thanks for the link. It is very interesting.

I have read about bullet proof coffee, but never tried it. I am a huge fan of coffee with milk. Last P3 I had tried CO and not been found of that . I heard of the butter thing but it just sounded gross. I switched to coconut milk and almond for coffee, but I have to say I don't really enjoy it like I did milk.
So now I am very interested to try the bullet proof recipe. I still have a couple of weeks before I am p3, so black coffee for now.

I don't have MCT. He doesn't say why not coconut oil though. I suppose just the MCT is supposed to have more benefits. I really like that is says it has no flavor.
I am not a huge fan of CO flavor. I guess I will have to order some MCT now.

I am really curious to know which family operated farm that grows his coffee. I live in Guatemala, a town 2500 feet above sea level and there are about 10 coffee farms within a mile of my house, and as far as I know, they all sun dry their coffee. I am going to have to do some research and find this place.

Not sure if you do facebook or not but he also has a facebook page and I believe he just posted something within the last couple of days about why not to use coconut oil. I can't pull up facebook while I am at work otherwise I would look for it and post it for you.

If you have a magic bullet or ninja to use for blending the bulletproof coffee for sure use it because it is so frothy and nummy and the butter gives it amazing creamyness and yes the MCT oil has no smell or flavor and that is one thing I love about it to especially for cooking.

Don't feel like you need to order his products though, they are huge over priced and always onback order and can take months to get. I am able to get pharmacutical grade MCT oil off of Amazon.com for less then his price and I was ordering a coffee that Grammy reccomends that is mold free from Toomers Coffee but haven't been able to order it due to lack of funds. So I use regular coffee when I have to.

Shannon, I totally agree with you about his products and costs...I personally think alot of the stuff he says about other coffee is hooey: we used to have coffee shops and some of the stuff he says about mycotoxins in the coffee beans just don't make sense. There were a bunch of people making comments on his site that his chemistry was incorrect....they said that unless you are eating the coffee beans themselves that the heat of all of the processes will kill alot of the stuff he says are in other coffees. The costs of his products, I think, are outrageous. Grammy, in another thread, had recommended a different MCT oil that she likes....by some doctor (can't remember his name right now). I did order Asprey's coffee once and didn't think there was anything special about it...and his roast is medium and kindof namby-pamby: he says he doesn't make dark roasts cuz it "ruins" the oils....makes no sense!!!!...you don't "ruin" oils by roasting coffee darker.....

We buy organic green beans from Sweet Marias that are Fair Traded and then roast our own...so we think we get a good product without mold....since we had coffee houses and roasted all of our own coffee there we have just continued to do that at home...yummy, yummy coffee and his idea of the butter and coco oil in it really is a good one...so I give him that.

Hellobikini....I thought at first that the idea of butter in coffee sounded gross also...but it really works...and then I don't get the carageenan from the HWC....cuz even the pasture raised organic hwc we can get here has the carageenan....(altho, honestly I don't really know much about why carageenan is bad...not one of the additives I really have researched.....

It seems like I have read that MCT has more of something in it than coconut oil, but can't recall what. I use 8 o'Clock Original flavor coffee beans. It is my favorite coffee I have ever had! Used to love dunkin donuts brand but I like this much better. It is under $4 at HEB. I had asked Grammy about a good brand of decaf and she recommended this brand. Couldn't find the decaf that day so tried the regular and I'm so glad I did. They also have a Colombian but it was to bitter for my taste. Im probably going to switch from heavy cream to butter now, even if I don't use the coconut or MCT oil. Man I want a cup right now! Oh yeah I did finally get the decaf. Not as tasty as the regular but good for decaf.

Thanks for the link, Shannon and thanks for the brand of coffee, Lola! I need to check these out! I've never seen that coffee at any of our stores here. Is HEB and health food store?

HEB is a grocery chain here on Texas. I also get the coffee at Target and Walmart.

Hcgcheerleader I saw on your profile you mention T Tapp. I've been thinking of trying it for a long time. I can't figure out what video to get to start. I do NO exercise right now and need to start slow. Would love to hear you thoughts on it.
