There are lots of great recipes in the recipe forum. There's a great PDF in the thread called P3 Cookbook: Somer's collected recipes.

When I was on P3 it felt like the sky was the limit, pretty much. After P2, P3 felt so indulgent.

Letitgo - Send me your email and I'll email you a list of what I've compiled.

delaney - OMGosh. The first recipe of Somer's says NO to baking powder in the flax muffins! Use soda instead. Well SHOOT. I'll have to do that! I didn't know the powder was bad for P3. Drat. A couple pages later there's a recipe with agave nectar in it. That's not P3. The cookbook is also not something I want to use for P3 if there's stuff snuck in there that isn't P3. That's just weird. Baking powder isn't ok, but Agave Nectar is? Eh? There is a P4 warning, but it's not in the recipe I was looking at... kinda scary.

    Posted on main thread too......
Well it the morning of p3 day 3 AND I AM STILL AT LDW!!!!!! I actually went back down a half pound and thats with no "movement" for 5days. This feels great because in my last two round I was already at a steak day by day 3! The difference--GOING SLOW! I havnt added any cheese, nuts, yogurt, or bread like products ie. flax meal.I also have not tried to go out to eat yet.
I think I want to begine to add a little.
Is there a product that I should add first?
I was wanting to try almond butter......I have suspected it might b a problem but never figured out if that was true. should i just eat a big spoonful and see what happens tomarrow or should I start with something safer like greek yogurt?

At the very least I hope the cheeseburger doesn't do too much damage. It was a good cheeseburger. Freshly made. Not fast food.
That sounds so good. Did you have it with or without the bun? Last time in P3, I went to In-n-Out Burger a few times and got a protein style (no bun) cheeseburger with grilled onions and I was awesome and I never had a gain from it. Now I know what's happening for lunch today!

On my food chart it shows Agave Nectar as a Caution in P3 and P4, not as forbidden so I suppose it's okay for those who test it and have no issue with it.

I honestly haven't cooked many recipes since I hit P3 and P4. I have just been eating very simple foods (ie meat for protein, steamed or stir fried veggies, lots of caprese salad type stuff) and I haven't baked anything (not a baker anyway) but maybe next round I will try some flax stuff.

Good morning all!! P3D2----Day 1 --- miserable-LOL--- first time that I have had such a negative reaction to reintroducing food. I even really was very slow with this round- knowing I really want to stabilize if I can at or below my LIW and not the 3 to 4 my last 2 rounds did. I seriously felt like I had the flu by last night---and it really was just adding food. Nothing extravagant and nothing that has given me problems in past. So,,,taking even slower for next few days. More P2 with some added items and things to get my calories up.

Still....so glad to be here!!! I only went up .2,,,,no surprise after by bonding time in restroom yesterday!! lol

    Have a great day all!!!

Hello everyone! I am thankful to find this thread. I stopped my drops last night, started 3 day VLCD today, and P3 starts on Valentine's Day. I had hoped to go one more week because my losses have been slow....

But I just got word that my dad has stage cancer. :-( I will be heading back to my hometown soon to spend time with him. Not sure when, but we will be deciding soon as soon as he meets with the oncologist, so I want to be ready. I'll may be in P4 by then, or possibly the end of P3.

So my dilemma...is how do I maintain while at home? I'm concerned that with the stress of my dad dying, I will make poor food choices. I don't plan to, I really don't. I was tough and didn't cheat once in P2. But I didn't have a life or death issue staring me in the face during P2, nor the stresses of family dynamics with high strung relatives. At home I will also be facing all those childhood foods and temptations...the ethnic foods, the pastries, etc. that I eat every time I travel home.

The other concern, is seeing my mom-in-law, who lives in the same hometown. She is all about food=love and will get offended if I don't eat what she makes. The last time I was there, I politely declined to eat one of the breakfasts and had a protein shake. She was REALLY upset. Another time, I told her I didn't want to eat anything, but she made a noodle dish and insisted I eat it while she sat there and watched me. I know I shouldn't let someone dictate what I eat and don't eat, but I really need to keep the peace in the family. I don't know how many days/meals I'll be seeing her, but I intend to eat as clean as I can without offending her. I will avoid sugar/starch and if I have to eat some sugar/starch, I will eat small portions.

Now if I need a steak day while there, I don't know how I will pull that off without everyone watching me and commenting.

Any coping strategies you can send my way would be really appreciated.

I'm really sorry to hear about your father and the stressful time that you're going through.

I just read what you wrote about your m-i-l and I got really mad. How dare someone manipulate someone else like that. I think caving to her manipulation is the worst thing you could do. In the face of that, I personally would be much more determined than if she were understanding, I think. This is something you need to address before you leave. As in say, "I am on a healthy eating kick right now and I will not eat anything that I am not comfortable with. If you choose to take that personally, that is your choice but it is not going to change my mind or what I'm doing." If your m-i-l is overweight herself, then maybe that is where her issues come from. I know sometimes we bigger gals can get really irritated at someone who is a healthy weight or looks skinny to us who gets super caught up in losing weight. But that's our baggage and all it is is projecting. Don't let someone guilt you into doing anything you don't want to do.

But I honestly have gotten to the point where people can stare at me all they want, I'm going to do what I'm going to do and I don't give a @#%& what they think. Here is the manta I would use: If they let it destroy the peace, that's on them. I have changed and I'm not willing destroy myself to keep the peace.

Perdita--- wow,,,so sorry to hear about your dad. I read someone on another thread in similar situation (where it is Family tradition, feelings hurt---food is woven into who they are....!!) This is the advice someone gave them and I think it can work for anyone.
Basically,,,,telling those that are offering the food, that you have found out you physically are sensitive to or allergic to flour/wheat etc and whatever it is and you can't eat. It is what you have discovered has been bothering you for years.
You aren't lying!!!! sugar and starch and pastas---etc......have been making us fat!!! And people tend to not take offense when you tell them you are allergic. Then eat in portions and what you know want derail all this hard work----it really isn't about them, this is something you are doing for you!

I don't disagree with delaney---but this may not be the time to get the whole family in an uproar about your diet. Just politely explain it is medical, not personal. I think you will be ok!!! And lots of good thoughts that great leaps can be made in his treatment!!
    Yes, I think

That is also good advice but I would be wary of the fact that you are now locked into an allergy and if you ever re-introduce those foods you may get called on it. I told some family recently that I was doing some "sensitivity testing" and was eating low carb temporarily under a doctor's care -- which I had forgotten about doing since I only did it because that particular cousin sells very expensive weight loss shake things and is trying to get distributors signed up under him so I didn't want to be pressured to sign up for that since I was trying something else to lose weight. But that may be a viable option since you're not locked into a lifetime of trying to remember exactly what you "can't eat" even in moderation.

I'm usually not known for my tact and if someone has expectations of me I usually rebel against them. That's sort of how I got here in the first place.... rebelling against my skinny mom thinking I was getting fat and should crash diet, so it's nice to have had a reminder that sometimes I'm the jerk.

Ah I miss the In-n-Out Burger. None where I live, but we have Chick-fil-A, which I did without when I lived on the west coast for several years.

I had the bun, yes. Since I'm in P4 and about to go into round 2 I dove in. Ate clean the rest of the day. No gain! No change at all. And I did finally go to the bathroom.

Tried to post earlier, but didn't see it, so if this is a duplicate please accept my apology.

For those of you who don't have an In-n-Out burger, Carl's has a pretty good low carb burger -- I order without sauce and without cheese (don't like the rubbery cheese they use at fast food places). Also Five Guys will wrap your burger in lettuce if you ask. Both have pretty good tasting meat as compared to other fast food joints. I never had a problem with them in P3.
