Exclamation Please tell me when your hair loss stopped!

I am in p4 and my hair loss is insane. I am at my goal, and I know there isn't much I can do. I have heard many people say that hair loss is temporary, but can people please post and tell me WHEN their hair loss stopped? I don't know what the normal range is.

I already have an appt with my dermatologist at the end of August, so if it is still happening then, I may just look into the rogaine that someone mentioned on another thread. If it is still happening then, I will most definitely be bald. Ugh. I feel so sorry for the thin haired people that go through this. I have always been blessed with a thick head of hair, but it is evident that it is thinner now.

Remember with hair loss that anything you start to do to correct it will take 2 - 3 months to notice a difference. I take 5000mg biotin daily and noticed my hair growing back a little over 2 months later.
    Looking for my mini-me!

Most actually don't lose hair. I never did. It happens sometimes but by no means does everyone lose it. Hair loss is most typically hormonal. You should get your thyroid and female hormones checked by someone who knows about them. Most GPs don't. And insist on getting a copy of the lab results.

Thanks to both of you for your replies. Can anyone else chime in on whether their hairloss just stopped and when?

I will get a hormones checked, it is something I have avoided for financial reasons, but this might just be the last straw!

Hi Ella, I did a long round on march 2011 and it took more than 6 months for my hair to come back, I’m not sure if it’s as thick as it was because I cut it all off, the stress was too much for me to bear so I got a short cut and took every hair supplement I could find, now it’s looking fuller and filling in where it was thin. I’m about to start a new round and I’m so afraid to lose hair again. I’m diligent with my supplements and will take extra protein hoping to lessen or avoid the loss.
My first round was successful but the stress of losing my hair has preventing me from starting again. I’m so fed up with being overweight I decided to do this one more time and I’m praying to be thin with hair again. Hang in there, take your vitamins and your protein, check your hormones, take care.

Get your hormones checked, Betty. It's really not related to the diet but to hormone changes.

I have Grammy, and everything was "normal"... I had everything checked, my ferritin was slightly low so I've been supplementing and improving my diet. I'll check my hormones again after the diet to see where I am, I'm sure the extra weight affects my hormones as well.

Grammy, I totally respect you, but there is evidence that hairloss can be from losing weight quickly and protein deficiency, as well as a deficiency of other minerals and vitamins AND hormones. I don't think hormones can be slapped on as the only reason, any more than weight loss can. Every woman SHOULD get her hormones tested and looked at by someone that has a different view than the standard American doctor. I don't have the luxury at the moment, which is why I am trying to hear from others.

I haven't heard anyone say that they lost their hair, then had their hormones tested, and after treating them, their hair grew back. I would love to, if that is the case. I also haven't heard anyone say that their hair has never grown back, which is a relief!

So, if there are more of you out there- and I am sure there are, please tell me more about your experience.

Well, let me be the first. I had my hormones tested, got treated and my hair grew back. Really. However, this had nothing to do with dieting and everything to do with menopause. Bio-identical estrogen completely restored my hair which is now thick and gorgeous. Yay!

On the other hand, when I was young and broke and living in San Diego, I lost hair by the handful because of extremely poor diet (beer and Hershey bars mostly). It grew back on its own with no treatment at all once I could afford to eat properly again. I don't think hcg has any effect on your hair and I don't think this many people have their hormones suddenly going out of whack at the same time. That leaves the diet itself which, face it, is extremely limited. Of course, I base this on my personal experience. Your mileage may vary.
    Gypsy
