Thread: Switching to IM shots??

    Question Switching to IM shots??

    Hello everyone,
I am going to begin a new round soon, and am considering switching from subQ shots to IM in the hope of staving off immunity. However I am scared to try IM. I know Grammy indicated she did some IM rounds, and I am trying to figure out the best way to research this, learn to give myself IM's, avoid pain & infection, needle size, considerations, etc. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I do have a reputable local pharmacy to get my HCG so that isn't a concern, but I think I would get better results switching to IM, but don't feel adequately prepared & knowledgeable about how to do this method of injection safely. Thanks in advance!

I like IM the best myself. I use 27 gauge needles that are 1 1/4" long and usually buy them from Allegro Medical I think. You mix the hcg the exact same way. Just google intramuscular sites. I give mine in the upper part of the butt. I just reach around and inject there. It's painless there to me. You clean the top off the same way you do with SQ shots. There's no more danger of infection with IM than with SQ so if you just use normal precautions of using alcohol etc.

125 iu is the right dose for almost everyone doing IM. There's no messing around with finding the right dose which is nice.

What are the main advantages to IM vs. SQ?
I’ve always used SQ for HCG and IM for B12 and LipoB. Had no idea it was okay to take HCG IM.

IM is the original way--the way Dr. Simeons did it. The main benefit is not having to struggle to find a dose. 125 works for nearly everyone. There's virtually no hunger on IM.

Thanks Grammy. I think I’ll make the switch as well.

Thank you so much Grammy, that helps more than you realize. I'm so happy to see you are around, thank you for all your wisdom and love for the HCG community! I was using HCG about 4-5 years ago & on my last round having sensitivity issues, you suggested IM then - but I was too afraid to try. I was really hoping you would answer my question.

I apologize for not replying in a timely manner, I have been out of town with very spotty internet reception.

I was reading that many people doing IM injections (for a variety of reasons - not just HCG) pull up the plunger a little after the 'stab' to make sure they didn't hit a vein (via the presence of blood in the syringe), is that something you did with your IM injections? I will be starting this Friday, I am nervous but am just going to have to power through & do it as the subQ aren't cutting it anymore. Also, with my subQ shots I would usually get the shots ready for the week in advance so I could just grab one in the morning & inject, do you think that would be okay to do with the IM shots as well? I can't think of why it wouldn't, but perhaps I am missing something?

Thank you again for your response & sharing your experience - you rock Colleen!

No I don't do that pull back. I've never hit a vessel so I don't think it's a big problem. I just injected first thing in the morning and go. It's not any harder than SQ.

    I survived!

So I did my first IM shot today, I was very nervous, but I found a video which helped me quite a bit. I actually didn't even feel the shot, which surprised the heck out of me. So far so good. For anyone considering going to the IM, this video was what I needed to muster the courage to switch from SubQ to IM, and Grammy's excellent guidance of course!

That's awesome! I can't feel the IM shots either. They sound scarier than they are. LOL
