Glad you figured it out, Kansas! I've recently discovered the great protein and good fats in things like pumpkin, chia and sesame seeds. Do you eat them?

    Grammy:
I grow alot of pumpkin and yes I eat it alot in p4 in the fall.
Pumpkin Chipolte soup, sans the corn.

I'm supposed to eat chia, and I have it, I made it once and I didnt like it. But I will keep trying its so good for you.

I probably eat 40-60 carbs on p2(whot?) I know, lettuce and cabbage. I cant imagine going lower and I cant add fat in p2, doesnt work, even though it would be nice

I tried a round with adding in MCT oil as an experiment for a paleo doctor friend. I lost very little and regained what I lost. Try the chia seeds in a smoothie. That's the only way I can get them down. LOL

Colleen! Spot on, thank you. Xox

Kansas I love chia in a drink or on yogert. For me the drinks are easiest to get it in.

Wow, the peeps don't like hearing the truth. I appreciate how honest you are, and after a decade of Atkins and three rounds of hcg, I've come to the same conclusion.

I also think both fruits and grissini are important elements of the original protical.

For real chia in a smoothie, okay, in p3 or 4.

I'm a little surprised at the back lash on to Grams.

I mean hey, I don't care if you want to have a ho ho on p2, or just do your own thing, cool, but Grams can't say its "okay" if she doesn't believe its okay.

And when did Grammy stop being the expert? haha

I got nothing against peeps doing Siesta. I"m taking notes cuz its interesting and most of those gals are my friends.
And when I really really really(Sponge Bob) gotta know something, I know who I'm gonna ask.

    I love you all!

Exactly, Kansas, do your own thing, siesta whatever, just don't get all bundified when it comes right back.

I'm so going to add back my sweet potatoes and whole carbs, little by little.

My bff has Graves disease. I'll tell you, a messed up thyroid can do more than just mess with your weight. Her sight is in danger and she used to be smoking hot, now she lives in sunglasses to hide her bulging Betty Davis eyes. Its heartbreaking.

I don't have anything against someone trying the Siesta Diet. Kats said it was only 28 days. The worst that can happen is someone's thyroid gets a little depressed and they may regain the weight. It's not like it's fatal. I was interested in the experiment. I conducted one of my own with adding MCT oil in one round as a favor to a paleo doctor friend. It was an abysmal failure, and I saw that repeated with others who tried it, but there were a few who did well on it. Everyone is different. This article was generalizations about how going ultra low carb affects women. Not all women may have that experience.

This post didn't have anything to do with the Siesta Beach thing. I'm always posting links. LOL Heck, I posted this one on my Facebook too. This post happened because I have had so many lately regaining weight after cutting all fruit in P2 then also in P3 and continuing on into P4 with hardly any carbs. Then the usual thing started with feeling awful and uncontrollable gains starting. So I thought I'd detail where I'm coming from and what all I have personally tried in case it might help others.

But everyone is ultimately in control of their own body and diet. I love Kats by the way. She's super smart and you can't go wrong with asking her any question. We disagree a little about the thyroid and ultra low carb diets but that's okay. Her experience was different. And we have the Rogue thread where people try different things. It's their choice.

I see a whole lot more than just this forum. I get tons of private emails that come through my author website so I see a lot of different problems, and I try to pass along when I see in case it's helpful.

So sad about your bff, Bella! Has she tried an autoimmune diet?

Hi Colleen! Great post! This topic has been on my mind a lot lately after finishing a round the week of Thanksgiving and slowly working my way through p3 and holiday food land mines. So I have a good feeling of what is good carb and bad carb. But what is too low carb? ( given reason of one's own level of activity) I eat all kinds of veggies and fruit...raisins, prunes to strawberries, apples, bananas, pineapple. I have fruit and veggies everyday...Veggies I eat all kinds with the exception of corn. But I have never added dry beans back in my diet. Nor have I added ( of course) pastas, rices, bulgar wheat, potatoes ( with the exception of occasionally sweet potato)
And do you have carb everyday or every couple of days? mark's daily apple calls his sweet spot of carb intake between 50-100g a day. Which in theory it is not difficult to hit 50g a day just eating veggies and fruit.

Good to hear from you, brick! I would call anything under 50 carbs too low for long term health. Short sprints of it are one thing. It sounds like you're getting enough with your fruit. I eat carbs every day. I've recently discovered and love lentils. LOL I also eat black beans on occasion.
