50-100 is still low carb. Just not ultra low carb.![]()
I just totaled up what I have had today thus far with my banana, peanut butter and raisins and mushrooms and hit 67 gr already. But other than a bit of veggies at dinner that will likely be it for me. That is my average ( when there is food in the house, not a couple of days before grocery shopping and low on everything) Those days I eat less carbs in fruit / veggie form
thanks Colleen...it is so funny this topic keeps popping up lately and I it is an area that is of constant unsure-ness for me.

Good to know Colleen! My knowledge has grown so much since 4 years ago when I tried hhcg the first time. I have to say that personal I bundled it up last year thinking I could enjoy a bit of the holiday treats...all that processed flour/sugar/corn syrup threw my body in a loop that it never came out of. The only way we can ALL get through this is to share what we have learned, what has succeed or failed and the reasoning behind it. The rest is up to us to find our way through and ask questions along the way.
Well..I am not going to feel guilty any more for enjoying my peanut butter on apple slices any more...LOL! Over those 4 years I tackled the adrenal glands, depression and now working on thyroid all the while trying to deal with 10 year perimenopausal body...I swear there are some months when nothing seems to work...LOL!
Thanks for taking the time to post your findings and thoughts and links!

This is interesting and timely for me as I just started reading The Schwarzbein Principle, written by an endocrinologist who is against low carb. One of the plans in her book is called the Healing Plan, meant for people with damaged metabolisms. She says that can mess with our hormones, thyroid, etc. She also says we should eat 3 meals and at least 1 snack (ideally 2) daily, and eating only when you're hungry can also mess up metabolism. She writes that adding carbs might cause some initial weight gain, but healing the metabolism is the priority and that you have to heal metabolism first to lose weight.
I've heard of her protocol. Pomroy who write the 28 Day Fast Metabolism Diet also believes in the eating every 2-3 hours.

What do you suggest for those of us who've been unsuccessful with introducing a lot of p4 foods? That makes me lower carb by nature but I do make sure I have a piece of fruit a day and lots of nuts. I'm worried I will gain with more fruit. I still have days where I'm battling my weight because of fighting the inflammation from trial p4 foods. Would love to have bread and oats but I've gained 2lbs every time I've tried to introduce that or gluten free bread. Tried beans today so we'll see...
I'm on track to start a round on Monday but I'm worried that since I haven't been having p4 foods yet that going for 7 more weeks of no p4 will make introducing even harder at that point...
I'd do 30 days of The Plan by Lyn-Genet Recitas and see if you can pinpoint what is causing the inflammation. Her protocol is very eye-opening! and there are carbs other than bread and oats like sweet potatoes and regular potatoes. Many gluten free breads are VERY high glycemic so they can be problematic. Once you discover your sensitivities, consider doing Trim Healthy Mama or the 28 Day Fast Metabolism Diet. Good luck!
