Ok, HUGE. But I had no idea I weighed that much. I am on day 25 of VLCD and I have lost 35 pounds so far. The sad part? I'm so big people haven't really noticed. The good part? I notice because the scale keeps going down (yay!) and I feel SO much better. In the grand scheme of things I still have a LOT to lose, but in just 35 pounds I feel better about myself and everyday tasks are so much easier. I sleep better, focus better, etc etc. I only wish I had heard of this years ago before I got so out of control. My stress now is that soon I will be going to the maintenance phase and I'm terrified I'm going to start gaining. But thank god for this message board, I read it every day for inspiration or tips or whatever. You guys are all AMAZING!!
Hey Jules! I was 376 at the highest (that I weighed myself) in 2007. I have a hip that gave me ROYAL PAINS at that weight and I couldn't exercise and I felt hopeless!! I avoided the scale after that weigh-in at a doctor's office, but did begin trying to eat a bit more healthily (2 fastfood meals instead of 3). Over the following 3 years I did lose 46 lb, but a lot the loss was from frequent fasting. So by the time I found HCG I was one of those who had to reload normal fats back into my system in order for the HCG to work on the stored fats. (Gained 19 lb loading my first round!) So I hear where you are!

On Round 1 in P3 I finally stabilized the third week at 5 pounds above my LDW. After I'd done 3 steak days (the first on day 2 of P3) I decided to just ride it out and see what would happen, and I DID stabilize, finally. Don't let P3 freak you out! Dr. S. says your weight may fluctuate wildly until the third week and that is why he built in the steak day. Not because you do anything wrong if you're over your LDW, but because it is a way to try to help your body stabilize. So, it's all good. You will love P3 and the maintenance part of the diet once you're able to relax with it.

Just don't get into the idea that it isn't part of the "diet." You are still on the protocol and need to slowly add new foods to see which ones make you gain so you can avoid those. I find that tripling my protein and calories from P2 foods right away helps me get into P3 with no problems. I had a LOT of food sensitivities that had helped me gain so much weight, and until I did the P2 of HCG (which is essentially a food allergy elimination diet) I didn't know just how much my body HATED me eating them ... though they were ALL foods that I LOVE to eat! Fortunately, I've been able to "clear" most of my food allergies now and can eat more freely and maintaine.

So, don't panic about your upcoming P3 ... it's all part of the learning process to train you how you'll want to eat for the rest of your life.

You can do this! We ALL can!

    Hi Marlenek,
Do you have any hunger issues? If so, your dose probably needs adjusting either up or down, and that will help.

Also, you say you've only lost 1/2 pound per day ... does this include your load weight? And, how were your losses the first few days of the VLCD?

.5 pounds a day is the average weight loss for women. Men lose the advertised 1 pound per day. (And, up until the last few weeks I'd lost 1 pound a day while on HCG, but that has stopped now. I made some adjustments to intentionally slow my losses so my OLD skin can catch up ... I do NOT want baggy skin and will be happy to lose more slowly to try to avoid it!)

I'm not familair with "smart for life" protocol. Does it match the original Pounds and Inches protocol? http://www.myhcgsource.com/hcgProtocol.pdf is the whole original manuscript this is based on ... or for the diet menu and overview: http://www.myhcgsource.com/diet-hcg.htm

If "smart for life" doesn't match this original, try using the original diet protocol and see if it helps your losses.

    Good luck!

Kaleen thank you for the information. I do not know where I will stabilize. I have read P&I twice and still apparently overlooked the week 3stabilitzation section of P3. I am entering week 3 of P3. I have not been thinking of P3 as a diet or part of the protocol. I have not been eating starches and sugars. I also have not been eating enough calories and have my last meal too late at night. After the first week of P3cut out fruit (even though I had only been eating strawberries and apples). As of last night, I cut out coconut, almond, and flaxmeal flours. I do have several food allergies and intolerances. I took a blood test last week to see which other food allergies I may have.

    Again thank you.

    Hi Andi,
I gain in maintenance when I don't eat ENOUGH. I have to almost force-feed myself in maintenance. This comes from years of poor eating habits. I was in starvation mode for so many years that I'd gain whenever I did eat.

In P3 I was using Jay Robb egg white shakes (because I was whey sensitive) in the morning to "break fast" and get my cals up. I say "was" because now I'm going to try eating a large omelet in the morning to start me eating my next P3. Just bought myself a specail "egg pan" to "encourage" myself to do this. (Cooking has been a problem for me and I really had to force myself to do any cooking. But I feel SOOOO much healthier when I do. So, then I browse the P3 Food **** site to stir me to want to cook and eat. I ADD the nuts I am not sensitive to (walnuts are good for me, almonds were not) and more coconut ... all to add good fats and protein and keep my cals up.

Fortunately those allergies CAN be cleared. I had so many that I finally just broke down and got a clearing kit that clears things you may not even know you are sensitivie to ... and in combinations since some foods only cause a problem in combination with other foods. (www.theallergykit.com) I MAY have cleared all my sensitivities, but won't know for sure until I get to a long break and try eating a normal diet (not like I used to eat, but like "normal eaters" eat).

Kaleen thank you again. I always feel full and not hungry. The first few days of P3, I was always hungry. Now there are days when while working I forget to eat and when I get home at 8pm or 9pm; it is too late to eat and sometimes I do. More often I go a whole day with having only eaten a mug cake, lunch and lots of coffee. I think that is what I loved most about P2; not being hungry and eating only about twice a day.

To eat more I will set an Outlook reminder to remind me to eat - not just at lunch but throughout the day as well.

Hi everyone, hope I can join this thread. I started HCG Feb 5th at 265.3, I lost 31lbs in 21 days the first round, took 3 weeks p3 then started a 2nd round for 2 weeks and lost 10lbs. Did 1 week of p3. I am not cycling back again to P2 and not sure if I will do 2 or 3 weeks. I am down to 223/224 but I really want to get under 200 by June.
Mentally I think I am struggling a little because I don't see a lot of change in my body. I have only lost 5 inches in my waist since I started and so I am comfortably in 20's where I could squeeze in them when I was 25lbs heavier then now.
I still have tons of back fat and I just hate it. My legs and arms are skinny and always have been, I look like a marshmello on a stick. I just keep thinking to myself there is no way all this fat is going to be gone in 60+ more pounds. Just doesn't seem realistic since there hasn't been a lot of change in 42lbs.

well other then my face, it is skinnier, and my boobs are deflated and hang to my waist LOL.

Hi NathalieB, welcome to the thread. Wow 31#s in 21 days is great!! Stick with the protocol and the rest of the weight and inches will melt away. I too first lost weight before I began losing inches. When I started rapidly losing inches, my weight loss appeared to stall. This was great because I was able to squeeze into a size 12. I didn't buy the size 12 pants because I feel more comfortable in size 14.

I started P3 at the end of March and plan on cycling back to P2 the first of April. However from what I have been reading on the site, I may need to be on P3 a full 6 weeks before going back to P2. I am sure I will be chastised by someone for not going on to P4 but I do plan on going on to P4 on my next cycle. I have gained weight on P3 but with the help of others on this site, I plan on taking control of the situation and losing the weight I have gained and eventually stabilizing.

You are making good progress. Keep up the good job.

Bella - CONGRATS on the losses, you are doing GREAT!!!! I too am excited for onederland someday...probably another 2 rounds or so for me, but I will be there hopefully by the end of the year, or by fall

abbey - wow, you have been through so much. So glad you found HCG and that you are feeling good with it. It is truly a lifesaver for me.

Sweetie - WELCOME!!! Congrats on starting this journey. It is a journey, it is tough, but I think it is more mentally tough than anything else. You can do it if you stick your mind to it and push through the tough days. We are here for you and will encourage and support you through it all. I started last March at 320.4, I know how you feel When I get below 300 I cried, it was so amazing to be able to get under 300 in less than a month. Today I am at 239.2. I have had some ups and downs, and times that I gained back what I lost and had to do the round over again. Important thing is I learned, dusted myself off and got back on the horse. We can do it and the support and advice of this message board is priceless.

Have a great day everyone....today is day one of P3 for me, I'm a little excited

d74- WOW! You are doing awesome!! CONGRATS on you losses! Hope P3 is going well. I have a few rounds as well. I'm thankful for finding HCG! It has changed my life in so many ways! Keep up the great work!

You are doing great! All my weight is located on my mid-section. My legs and arms don't match the rest of my body. I always said I look like an egg with sticks poking out, lol. Hopefully my mid-section will catch up with them one of these days. Hang in there, you are doing great! Your body will start to lose the inches.

Kaleein, thank you so much for your words of wisdom, it's so nice to hear from others who have been there. I was reading up on the maintenance phase yesterday and I did see that part about weight fluctuating wildly until you stabilize, I guess that's what had me concerned. But you are right, if I can get through the VLCD phase then certainly I can get through the maintenance phase too. I will try to take it slow and not freak out. THank you :-)

Andiadams- thank you! I just need some reassurance from some other former big girls that it will eventually change! I am on my 2nd cycle round and going to do 3 weeks this time and hope to lose 15 pounds. I did a full 23 days the first round and p3 for 3 weeks. Then went right back into p2 for 2 weeks and lost 10lbs, then 7 days of p3. I just started p2 again and would probably do 2 weeks but since I have something in May I need to be on maintence I am going to go 3 weeks.
Yea most people will chaistice you for not doing p4 but Universal has not and I have the same thinking, I will do it when I reach my goal.

Jules congrats on your loses so far. People will not notice but you need to know that you have noticed and keep up the good work. And it is work. I started at 289.5 and this is the first time I have said that out loud. (or in writing) I weighed in this morning at 220.8. This is my third round and tomorrow is my last day of drops. When you get to P3 and just before start going to the P3 thread and you will get tons of support from people there. I noticed that I could eat A LOT of food during P3 and P4 then I ever could before and not gain weight. It is amazing how this diet teaches our body to be "normal". I struggled with round 2 but this round has been amazing and I have not cheated. I travel a lot for work and have even taken frozen food in my suitcase to eat so I could stay good. Just remember that there are ways to correct your gains in P3 and P4 and follow the plan on not eating everything all at once when you get there. Add dairy, eggs, nuts separately for three days each. And if you notice a weight gain stop and look at what you eat. I can not eat eggs. Love love love them but they make me gain weight. So I use them now when I load for the next round.
I wish I had found the diet years ago also. But we have found it now and from now on we will succeed!!! Good luck!!
