FMD is something Grammy regularly recommends to people for fixing carb sensitivity and for maintenance after P3. Pomroy does have some training in equestrian nutrition and relies on a team of doctors and such, but I'm not sure about any real science behind it. But a lot of people that don't have traditional training can know a lot. After all, doctors get their info from the internet just like we do. (My GP admitted that to me just recently. ^_^) A little background about her:
    http://hayliepomroy.com/clinics/

I do know experiencially that the carb-desensitivation you get from FMD is real. When I started it, I couldn't eat a 1/2 small sweet potato without gaining. Now I can eat a whole day of grains, fruits and starchy veggies and actually lose. The key is not eating them with fats. Which is also a principle of HCG in P3, so it is a compatible idea.

If you have skepticism about it, the only thing you can really do is plunge in and see for yourself.

Please note that any suggestions I make are based on the Original Protocol.

My recent HCG round was with DietDoc. Our site owner has generously arranged for me to earn a small fee if you use my DietDoc or Nu Image Medical link to order your Hcg and supplies. It is why i like the THM Leez. When i eat the starches, i have low fat. When i eat high fat i d low carbs eating only veggies and a fruit. So far it wrking better for me than previous P4

I haven't tried THM personally except to dabble in the rules a bit, but thats definitely another option. You might even like it better than FMD, because you have more freedom to do both starch and fat meals in the same day (with 3 hours in between.) But the trade off is that the starch amounts are much lower than when you can eat them in FMD, and you have to count starch grams and fat grams to get it right. That part drives me a bit crazy, because I don't have that stuff memorized and have to look everything up.

I find FMD easier to follow---especially if you have the iPhone App. It shows you the allowed choices, and when you enter your choice, it then tells you the portion size. No math to do.

What both plans have to offer though, is to keep you eating enough. You're never hungry on them.

Thank you, ladies. I appreciate all that hard-won wisdom/experience. I have read Trim Healthy Mama but didn't try it. I like those moms and their recipes. I definitely have to do something different because what I am doing right now has me doing steak days every week.

That was my problem too. A steak day every week is too often. It means something is wrong. And worse than that--the steak days will stop working after a while. Then what do you do? Its so frustrating. There has to be an answer.

Have any of you gone to a tea party and eaten not one, not two, but three desserts?

Why did I do it? I know better and have self control 99% of the time...

My doctor told me to wait three months before having sugar again. He even recommends avoiding it completely. I'm beginning to understand why he says that. He once said it's more addictive than heroin.

    Your thoughts?

Yes I agree the steak days do quit working. That has happened to me. Lately I have been sick with a cold for the last few weeks and my work schedule changes a lot, so I am not eating every few hours like I should.

I am still staying around LDW but have to really watch what I eat.

Sweets are not my downfall, never have been, but taco's , and or nuts/sesame sticks mixtures are. I have to avoid them.

Once I have steady hours at work, I will try to maintain better. I sometimes feel just like before taking hcg, that it doesn't seem to matter what I eat I will gain.

Jayk. Congrats on staying at ldw with your cold and all. I think we will always have to be cautious about what we eat so we dont get those pesky creepy gains. Im below Liw but sitting in the cold i jyst cant make myself drink water or eat cold salads. Last cpl of days im slightly up from two days ago but mainly not eating enogh. Not the wrong thngs but not enough water and veggies. Probably eating three fruits per day. I will return home under what i was when i left first of sept assuming scale and floor changes havent tricked me. Lol!

I know there are days I don't eat enough as well, or consume my water goal and veggies per day.
I just try to not let it happen to often.

You have done well then Rose, with being away and travelling. Good job

Abs... I hope you enjoyed the dessert. I know for me the only dessert I would have trouble with is cheesecake. I do like it, but can look at it and say no. Other than that sweets aren't my thing thank goodness.

SUGAR is the devil!! I've gained a few pounds practically overnight. It wasn't from sugar-- just eating lean proteins and veggies/fruits... If I'm not on a structured plan, then I seem to gain- regardless of what I am eating or drinking. When I am on a structured eating plan- I tend to maintain ( not lose- or at least not lose for long). But I get tired of following the structure. I get tired of being on a structured plan. Being told what to eat and when-- having to constantly cook and/or shop for ingredients. The added expense--OHHHH!!! I guess it's the rebellious teenager in me. But I seem to lose steam on a structured plan around week 5. I've tried hopping from one plan to the next- but I'm just trading one structure for another. It's really difficult. I enjoy at salad- but sometimes I want a more filing meal.
One of my main issues, is that I am exhausted!! I lose my energy at 5-6pm. I DO NOT suffer from that 2pm crash-- mine is later. And I don't seem to recover. I can relax, eat or nap--but I'm done for the evening. EVERY doctor has told me that I do too much. But how does one stop being a parent/wife and individual? There is nothing that I can cut out. I've tried to pace myself... eat every 2-3 hours, but nothing seems to work.
I am presently exploring a hormonal imbalance-- maybe the treatment will alleviate my exhaustion. I don't know.
So, when I am exhausted I reach for energy giving foods-- lean protein/fats.... veggies such as bell peppers, cucumbers, celery ( usually to dip in hummus). I found a red lentil pasta-- only made out of lentil... using as a snack for protein... I've abstained from the sugar! I'm determined to kick that addiction to the curb...
So with all of my frustration, at least I know why I have turned to sugar all of these years-- exhaustion and quick energy fix. Now, to fix the exhaustion issue.

Abs- I know we have different reasons for grabbing the sugar. But either way sugar is the DEVIL. I truly believe that sugar effects our brain chemistry. So even when we kick the habit, we are like an addict. Just being near it, makes us crave it. I can make myself salivate, just by thinking of skittles-- ya know those rainbow colored candies?
It's ok to be human.. you indulged... you probably ate 3 pieces because you've been sugarless for a while and the addiction took over. All it takes, is 1 bite for some of us-- to then binge..
Just move on, go back to your healthier way of eating... if you stick with P3 style for a week-- you should recover... good luck

Kapulzie so sorry to hear of your loss of energy perhaps you are doing too much but sounds as if sonething else going on. I know when my thyroid was low i was exhausted a lot. Eating right shoukd make you feel better. My go-to snack is usually a cpl T of peanut butter or my Pure Protein chocolate deluxe bar. Im exhausted only when i dont have adequate sleep...like now. Keep posting.
