Just holding for now, but that's ok. Holding is not gaining, so that makes me happy.

We are having beautiful fall days here, but I'm sad that I can't go out and walk these days. We have a plague of oak leaf itch mites in my neighborhood, which is full of old oak tree-lined streets. There's no way to avoid the mites. Even if you don't walk under an oak tree, they blow on you in the wind. And they are microscopic so they go right through your clothes. I have bites all over just from going back and forth to my car, so my dally walks are out until we have a couple of hard frosts. But o well, its just for a couple weeks more.

kapluzie, I think you've come on to a very wise key: finding substitutes that are just as satisfying as the things that would make you go off-plan. Good going!

Abs and Jayk, congrats on keeping your gains in the single digits. It seems we are all struggling with those couple of stubborn pounds.

I'm 5 lbs. over LDW, which is an improvement over where I was. For the last 2 weeks, I've been eating a modified P3. No or little grains and potatoes, no sugars, limited fruits, lots of veggies and protein. Extra water. It always amazes me (I don't know why it does) how well my body responds if I just fuel it correctly. But like you all, the trick is eating the right things.

Oh, and I gave up wine. Wine is my gateway drug to high carb eating. I cut out the daily glass of wine and it's amazing how the weight drops off.

The school year is in full force around here. Two daughters in community college and still homeschooling the son and teaching two classes. I also run a teen club, which I have to leave for tonight. The kids will be getting together to watch a movie--either Monster House or Nightmare Before Christmas.

Rooting for all of us to fight the good fight.
Abs you are amazing and one busy woman I am glad you found what works for you. Hope your girls are liking college. My daughter loves it and is doing good so far.

Three kids in 3 different schools in 2 different towns is taking it's toll on my energy levels.. but I'm trying to combat with varied veggies and fruits..

Abs- wow 2 kids in college-- bless you and them! and still another at home. Sounds like you're in a great place..
Jayk- salmon.. I've had to give it up- too many consistent gains for me with it. I hope you have better luck than I did.

Leez- You're amazing. I truly admire your diligence with all the plans that you have tweaked for yourself. How are you doing lately?
I have given up the salmon for now. I am pretty sure that caused me the gain. It is hard to find something satisfying, that isn't comfort foods lol. That is my weakness for sure as well. I do so much better in spring and summer. This time of year kills me, and that is why I am trying so hard to stay with it, and keep things under control.

Glad your holding your own. That is a great thing .. Wow oak mites, that is something I have never had to deal with. That would really suck until it freezes. But nothing you can do.
Yes it does seem we all struggle with those few stubborn pounds that don't want to come off.

I wonder how Rose is doing. I think she had Shows until end of October, so may not hear from her yet for a bit.

    Hi everybody,
I caved and had a thin slice of lemon meringue pie last night. It wasnt worth it! Don't repeat my mistake! 't looked better than it tasted and I should've been satisfied with a bite, not a slice. Live and learn. At least it was a small slice and I didn't eat the crust...

Next eating challenge: I'm going to a fancy auction on Saturday, 6 hrs. from here back in my hometown in Michigan. They'll have rich food and drink. Wish me luck that I can avoid gaining! Oh, and the 6-hour car ride alone--I want accountability. I'm saying now that I won't eat junk food while driving (which I've done before on long trips). Please ask me how I did when I get back.

Hope you are all doing fine. Share some of your low-carb comfort foods. One that I discovered is Power Crunch protein energy bars. I like the triple chocolate kind and like that I can buy them at my grocery store and at Walmart for around a dollar each. It's like a low-carb KitKat bar, and I eat it slowly with hot tea and feels indulgent. Warning: It contains milk, wheat, and soy.

Abs - long car rides. ..smh... drinking is a great alternative but not with long rides. Lol
Only making that ride longer with frequent stops isn't a great substitute.
So far, my favorite carb substitute- well not really a substitute, but it doesn't cause a gain for me.
Sweet potato pancakes or waffles. (I've only made pancakes). I can eat 5-6 half dollar sized pancakes and might I add YUMMY. I've also substituted syrup for yacon syrup. . With no gains. It's natural and seems to agree with me.
The auction sounds delightful. Have fun!

I think you're safe. The worst of the plague this year is mostly in the midwest states, Nebraska down to Oklahoma.

Abs... sounds like a great trip, hope you do well. I am fine with just coffee and my water on long rides.. Although it's been awhile since I have done 6-7 hours. If I do stop for lunch I just have my salad, and a hamburger with no buns, or just hamburger steak with onions. I seem okay with that so far. You could take your bars with you as well.

My snack so far is Blue corn tortilla chips. I seem to be okay with them or once in awhile the Sweet potato chip. That is my one downfall. For the most part I try to just have apples or oranges. It's only if I stay up too long. I can't do any protein bars as yet. I haven't tried those bars yet. Not sure if Walmart in Canada has them.

I still want to try the ones Leez uses, but I would have to order them. I am not trying anything new at the moment yet, until I have a grip on my weight again.

I am taking a few things to my daughter tomorrow. Hope to do a bit of shopping and have some lunch out somewhere, but will still watch what I eat. Enjoy your weekend everyone

    Hello gals,
I wish I could report that i was 100% successful in resisting refined carbohydrates last weekend. But, so you can learn from my experience, I do tell:
    - I was strong all the way up to Traverse City, eating nothing off plan
    - Once I got there, my brother and I drove to a bar and he bought me a glass of wine (kiss of death)
    - At the auction, I ate well and drank minimally, but did cave when they brought flourless chocolate cake
    - On the drive home, I missed my dinner because I was visiting another brother in his nursing home and they said I could eat there but then didn't feed me. By 8:00, my blood sugar was pretty low so I bought Little Debbie bars and chocolate. Funny part is I accidentally dropped some chocolate on my seat and smeared it all over when it melted.

Interestingly, my TOM came a week early, which made my weakness more understandable.

I've had a pretty good week getting back on track. I was pretty strong considering my house has tons of Halloween candy in it.

Hope you're all having a good week, despite the carb chaos.

Confession is good for the soul. .. and validates others.
    Thanks for sharing abs.
I've slipped. I stopped weighing for over a month.. and gained 10 lbs.
I'm owning what I did and moving on. I've been weighing everyday for 3 days and eating p3.. down 2 lbs so far.

Hey Abs... Well I would say you have done good for your road trip and previous Meringue pie..I know it isn't easy sometimes with daily life. I am glad P3 eating works for you to get back on track.
I am not sure it does for me. My body is still tricking me.
I am still over LIW, sometimes up to 8lbs and back down to 5lbs over LIW. Surprising , I had rye toast with breakfast one day, and garlic toast with Caesar Salad another, and went down a few lbs. I had company over this past weekend plus a rally to go to, so ended up eating out a couple times.. Had no gain after that, but then I ate a salad the one night and was back up a couple lbs.
This is where I get confused sometimes as to why I gain, but don't gain on when I think I should have.
But I am still weighing in every day to keep track of it

Kapluzie I have done that a few times over the years, and hey at least you owned up to it, and move on. I hope the P3 eating helps you get back on track.

Well ladies I am trying something new this weekend if it arrives on time, and see if I start dropping. Will report back with more info

Well I hope everyone is having a good weekend. Can't believe the warm weather we are still having. Hope to get out walking today.

My plan for losing didn't go well this weekend. I had to take my daughter a cat she is taking in for a friend who no longer can keep it. Then we went out for lunch, which I had Edo Japan, and that has never bothered me before. Also I tried two new teas that day. Which again I wouldn't think that should bother me either.

Then my friend invited us over for supper last night. I had sweet potato and peas. Two things I haven't ate in long time. So needless to say I have lost nothing, but gone up a couple lbs.

So today I am starting over with trying to just eat the things I know I can all week. Going to also try exercising a bit more as well.

    See how that goes.

Well I enjoyed the weekend, but not food wise as I said above. I also had Clamato juice, which I am sure the Sodium didn't help. The new product I tried was SafSlim. Well it's not working for me. I am now 10lbs over LIW... Wow

Oh well... So today and on... just clean eating... avoid everything I know that bothers me. See what happens each morning when I weigh, is all I can do. I think my hormones are still playing a part.

Update: Nov 16 .... I am now only 6 lbs over LIW. I quit taking the Safslim, and did a steak day yesterday. Will see how the rest of the week goes. Fingers crossed lol.
