Hi Abs glad to hear from you whether good news or not

I know it's not easy for sure.

Yes I am 52, and have only had TOM/symptoms a couple few times since Last February. I am hoping its soon done But I know each time I had weight gain around that time.

I also have wondered about calories. I don't really count them so not sure what I consume. But like you that has happened for me as well, that is why I find it so confusing. I have ate P3 and thought I am doing well, and don't lose a thing. Next day I say whatever and eat high carb and lose.

I do know Americans have large portions of everything lol, here in Canada we try to serve just smaller portions. I think we used to serve large as well, but never as large as in America.
I come from a larger family too, and hate to waste food. But I did learn to take smaller portions and have more If I am hungry.

I am hanging in and still weighing but no major drop here dang it. I really wish I had the time and money to map out my foods and snacks, but it hasn't worked out that way yet for me. I think if I could do that, it might help or at least I would know.
A lot of my money right now is going to help my daughter through college. And the price of food and everything else keeps going up. I listen to others talking who struggle with weight and wish they could eat healthier but they can't afford it. Really does suck when you think about it, that it's cheaper to eat unhealthy

At least we are aware of what is going on, and we all keep trying to hang in there. But during the Winter and Christmas time I always find harder for me.
I need spring/summertime to get out more and enjoy the weather. These shorter days, and colder weather just don't work for me lol.

    ABS!
I too have noticed the Caloric intake quandary. Over the summer, I was able to maintain a weight of 124 for over 6 weeks. During that time, I did pay attention to calories. I did notice that when I ate p3 but with a higher calorie, I would gain.
If I ate off p3, I tried to lower my caloric intake for the day- and I was able to maintain.
I don't know when I lost sight of that. . But I need to get back on that trail.
I am 49 and Tom visits me monthly. I do experience bloat and slight gains. But usually drops within a few days. I do however notice an increased desire for either sugar, salt, or comfort foods. . Depending on the other stressors, is how intense my cravings get.

I think part of the battle is the seasonal body clock. As the weather gets colder, it seems to be easier to put on extra weight.

Its something I've become aware of fighting every year. I'm not sure how a person overcomes that.

In my case, my daily outdoor walks get fewer and farther in between as the weather worsens, and I'm not very faithful about doing something indoors instead. Thankfully, I have a four-story house, so I spend a lot of time during the day running stairs. I think that does help. I try to deliberately not consolidate trans-floor trips to get the most benefit out of the stair-climbing.

I think about it all the time. I've come up with. ...
Watching all the time... eating "the best choice".. often leaves me unfulfilled. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE the way I look.. it's more of a mental thing. My mind craves not necessarily the bad food. . But the feeling I use to get when eating that bad food.
I came to that conclusion, because when I indulge. . The food doesn't usually taste as good as I remember. I know that sounds odd.
I'm not sure why I still crave "those feelings"... and even more difficult. . I don't know how to satisfy those feelings.
Switching foods for texture, looks, crunchy. .whatever. .doesn't satisfy. ..
    It truly is mental

I had missed your post Leez. I agree with the seasonal clock. I don't get very motivated indoors either. I was thankful this past weekend was nice, so got out and walked but this week is very cold now.
I too have too fight this every year. I love the outdoors and need more daylight.

I have to agree that I have dropped a lot of foods, that don't fulfil me the way they used to. I never eat pizza, or have tacos and I really love taco's. I don't have burgers, only without the bun. And I love burgers. But thankfully that does satisfy me without the bun even. But I can't have that daily lol.

But I got eating those Blue Corn Tacos as I was looking for a replacement snack, but lately that isn't doing anything for me either. Funny on the hcg diet, I didn't care about snacks. And I am not sure I really do now, but mentally I will think I want a snack whether I am hungry or not. I think that is possibly why I gained.

The trick now is getting back to my LIW and then start again to maintain, without having to do hcg. I personally am not happy with being 8-10 lbs over LIW. I don't look awful, but I don't look as good as I can without it , if that makes sense.

    Jayk- that makes perfect sense.
I too think I want a snack. Usually it's for a mental break. I'm trying to meditate and use breathing to take that break. When I'm at home, I'm trying to give myself a pampering moment instead of snacking. It gets hard at work to do that.
The season changes affect me also. . I am planning on painting a landscape. I'm hoping that I can refocus my mind from the shorter days and comfort foods to the beautiful earth and all it's natural beauty.
I'm also experimenting with essential oils. I'm diffusing in my home, vehicle, and classroom. .and I'm now adding various oils to my water for an energizing refreshment.

I think your right about mental break. I can't do that at work either.
Need to find a way at home
I also find in the past year or so my husband has been home more and needs more attention.
Not that I don't love him , but not used to him around so much.
I never thought of using the oils in my vehicle, so going to try that. Thanks for the tip kapluzie

    Hi Kapluzie,

Nice to hear from you these days. July p4 group. [2015] Let's stay connected!

Salt has always been one of my biggest cravings (way more than sugar)and gain causers, until I started using Grey Celtic Sea Salt. I've found that I use less of it, but get a more heightened salty taste that is so satisfying. Best of all, it's good for your digestive system, and seems to cause no bloating at all.

Never been a big salt user, but I like Himalayan salt the best. The iron is good for you

But the problem for me is, like with a comfort food or drink .... they don't use that kind of salt.

I love Mott's Clamato juice.. too much sodium... Same goes for those Blue corn chips I like I think lol

I remember years ago, my mom's health issue required her to take Cortisone and/or prednisone. She was stuck with it forever. Well that causes fluid gain, and she had to avoid sodium. I remember us looking at ingredients in all food, and it was very hard to find anything without sodium.

She pretty much made most of her own baking etc. These days are a bit better now for that. She has been gone for 15 years now. But I still look at all ingredients, and thank god they must put ingredients on the label. Remember the days when they didn't.

You are absolutely right about most foods being loaded with sodium. Since it's such a problem for me, I do all of my own cooking every day and rarely eat restaurant or pre-packaged food. I even keep Celtic sea salt in my car and ask friends or family who may be preparing something for me to use it for seasoning instead.

    How is everyone doing?

I'm hanging in, not gaining, not losing. Still hoping for some kind of breakthrough. I had a setback last weekend, I made some super yummy ham and white bean soup with a bone from a spiral ham that I happened across in the back of my freezer. Unfortunately, either the bean variety or something in the ham was a problem for me because I shot up 2 pounds the next day, and another 2 the following. I suspect the ham may have been cured with some corn product. But it also could have been the bean variety (great northern). Its one I had not isolated to test.

After a steak day and a couple careful eating days, I'm back down again. But wow. So distressing. At least there is someone else in the house who can enjoy the rest of the ham & beans and I don't have to throw it away, even though I can't eat any more of it. But onward! Today, I'm sublimating with some crockpot chipotle pork to have with buttered cabbage for dinner.
