When i do the protocol i am always inclined to wait a cpl weeks before weighing as i used to get frustrated. Having said that i always think i should have lost more than i had but at least it is headed in right direction, I tend toward the half lb per day losses unless i am closer to a new lower goal and then it could be :4 lb per day, Either way i know if i stick to protocol that my doctor gives me i will go down and it helps not tomgo too crzy about stalls. Congrats to you on your upciming round.

Post holiday check in--I have been very stable with my weekly weigh-in and still below 140. My body seems to really like that long-term 138 setpoint from years past. I have to say that this is the first time since getting to goal that I can remember being able to eat fairly normally and not be constantly dealing with trying to figure out and correct mysterious weight jumps.

Maybe I was stressing myself out with daily weighing. But I'm starting to think that a supplement I've added is making a difference. I've been using baobob powder in my morning lemon water concoction, and most of the time making it into an adrenal cocktail if I'm somewhere close to 10am when I'm drinking it. I think the baobob powder (the fiber and the vitaminC) has been somehow beneficial to this stabilization I've been experiencing.

I'm finding it a lot easier not to overeat. Its kind of subtle, because I basically controlled portions before and made myself not overeat that way. Now what I'm finding is that I'm often not finishing those arbitrary portions because I'm satisfied before I get through them. And I'm not as much interested in thinking about or planning the next meal. I now start thinking about it when the next hunger signals appear. I think it may have something to do with the soluble fiber in the baobob keeping me satisfied longer, but maybe the vitaminC is a part of it too. I think I have been low on vitaminC for quite a while. (I can't take the supplement form because ascorbic acid is a corn product.)

Anyway, those are my current musings. Of course I'd like to lose back to LIW, but a peaceful existence a few pounds over that is worth a lot.

    @ Jayk:

    CLEAR BEET SOUP
1 quart beef stock (you can use mushroom stock to keep it vegetarian)
1 - 15 oz. can whole beets (or equivalent fresh)
    1 small onion
handful of dried european mushrooms, soaked
    1 T. sugar (I use xylitol)
    1 T. red wine
    1 T. wine vinegar
    1 T. lemon juice
    salt & pepper to taste

You can multiply this recipe as you like.
Grate the beets and onion into the beef stock. (Sometimes I just use a T. of onion flakes, it works fine.) Save the beet juice to add just before serving. Add the soaked mushrooms and soaking water to pot. (I've used dried portabellows in a pinch--no soaking needed.) Add remaining ingredients and simmer for about a half hour. Add reserved beet juice right before serving to keep the vibrant red color. I like to sprinkle in a bit of gluccomannan powder to slightly thicken the soup. A dollop of greek yogurt is a nice addition when serving.

Note: the reason you need to soak the european mushrooms is because there is dirt in them which will settle to the bottom as they soak. I get these kind of mushrooms from an import food store. Italian grocers will often carry them.

Thanks for the recipe Leez. I will definitely try it out soon

That's great your stabilizing, and hopefully that baobob powder is working for you. It would be nice to know what exactly helps us to maintain. But if whatever your doing is working, then that is Great!!!!!

I won't be messing up again, and if there is something I am missing , then I would much rather make it a THM way... They have so many good recipes.

I must say in Grocery stores, I am really noticing a lot of better products out there, without all the additives etc. More organic sections, gluten free, spelt flour etc. A year ago here, I didn't see these things in my stores. I would have had to order online or go to the city.

Warmed up here again for a couple days, so was nice to take dogs for a run yesterday, and hopefully today again.

Settled in to Florida last week but waited to weigh since i have eaten irregularly though not in a bad way. Pleasantly surprised to see scale at 133.4 this morning solidly below my goal. Not sure how long it will last as yesterday i had a gisnt meal at Chiles. At the fajita trio with shrimp chicken beef and veggies well done and with avocado and cheese plus qtr cup of black beans, Thought maybe i should wait another day but decided it was time to weigh. last weight was jan first, Last week had greasy sauteed plantains which were delicious too. Hoping to stay on track thru these 8 shows. First show was successful plus got a nice blue ribbon award which is icing on the cake. Hoping this weekend will warm up Florida usually in the 70s this time of year but lots of cold air from Canada.
So happy you have been effortlessly maintaining Leez. It is a real success story and encourages all of us. Jayk Happy you are also on track. Might not check in by posting but i will be lurking, this is first time i have even looked at hcg since end of year,

Great news, rose. It's pretty magical to be at a point where you can have a bit of an indulgence occasionally and not pay a scale price for it. And even get a drop. Definitely a celebration point!

I agree with you Jayk, when I want an old favorite, I find a THM way to do it. It's actually more satisfying. I find that if I do take a bite of something from my old recipe box, it doesn't taste the same anymore anyway.

I think there is something to the idea that our bodies do tend to pad up a bit for the colder seasons. Of course it might just be that we are less active in the winter months. But something is going on because so many experience it.

Congrats on staying under goal, rose!

Bleh. The cold hangs on. I need sunshine and fresh air, but its been too cold to do my outdoor walks. Which means I'm fighting cabin fever and low-level depression. I think I have a bit of that seasonal affective disorder thing, because I seem to deal with this every winter.

Tomorrow is my weekly weigh-in and I'm feeling a bit pudgy, so we'll see what shows up on the scale. Hopefully its just some temporary bloat. (And not the BarkThins with pumpkin seed and seasalt I've been nibbling on for desserts lately. I've been really careful with portions, and its a switch out from my normal peanut coconut oil candy, so hoping it will work for me---so yummy.)

Yay! Scale is holding, and puffiness is down today, but I think I figured it out.

I had some chili for lunch with pintos and fresh chopped onion and forgot to take my digestive enzymes. I think that was the reason for feeling pudgy yesterday. Lesson learned--do not forget the digestives!

I plan to get out in the sunshine today. Weather guys say we may approach 60.
