    Cool P4 in 2020 - Maintaining , Re-Training, and Sustaining!!!

    Hello Everyone,

As I posed the question and received feedback in the recently resurrected 2015 July P4 Thread (which is waaay too long and definitely overdue after 5 years)!!.

This is a new thread which will allow anyone in P4 to check-in for accountability and advice, but also share some of your secrets to success in P4.

Whether it's maintaining easier at certain calorie-levels, secrets for losing more pounds without more rounds, recovering from "the dreaded" P4 creep, or any other information, questions, or issues you have in P4 - THIS IS THE NEW PLACE!!!

Congrats on making it to P4, tanya. No small accomplishment, but now the real work begins, doesn't it?

We all have to come up with a plan that works long-term. That is the challenge.

My unexpected slow creep down is continuing. Back in my regular summer shorts today. woohoo!

    Hi Leez,

Is there anything consistent that you are doing to maintain, i.e. foods, number of calories, etc.?

I eat mainly THM (trim healthy mama) style. So basically whole foods, no sugar, avoid refined and processed foods. I either do carb meals with very low fat or fat meals with very low carb, but not fat and carb together except in token amounts. I don't lose weight doing that, but I'm able to mostly maintain. I'm aware of calories, but I don't count them. Probably the most consistent thing I do is try to stop eating at the satisfaction bite.

Last year, I agreed to go gluten and dairy free for a time to see if it helped my auto-immune thyroid condition. I will be getting some labs soon that will tell me if it lowered my antibodies count or not. It didn't make any difference in my weight, though. Some people will notice a big change in the way they feel and digest when they eliminate dairy and gluten. I didn't notice any difference. I've had negative test results for celiac and gluten sensitivity, so I really didn't expect anything dramatic. That was a huge sacrifice for me. (giving up cream in my coffee--a big deal, not to mention my awesome spelt sourdough bread) I feel kind of cheated that I didn't get any discernable benefit.

Earlier this year, I stopped being as strict about mixing fuels and surprisingly that's worked out fine. Just in this last month though, I started creeping down without changing the way I eat. I've probably eaten a bit less because of some stress I've been dealing with, but not a lot less. Whatever started this trend, I embrace it. I just haven't really figured it out.

I'm hoping it is a sign that my thyroid is finally balancing and my meds are working better. I noticed today while doing some yard work that I was drenched in sweat. That is totally foreign. I've always struggled with heat because I don't sweat enough. So maybe the sweating is an indicator that my hormones are normalizing.

While I've been on the P2 round, I''ve discovered evaporated milk in the can. OMG, one TBSP works like magic. The coffee tastes so smooth and caramelized. And it hasn't affected my losses at all. I plan to keep using it after I finish P3, but i will switch to HWC or Half & Half until P4.

    rose is my inspiration.

I'm holding at 145 right now, which is a comfortable weight. I try to put things in perspective. When I got married, I remember weighing 143. And I felt fine about how I looked and felt then. Isn't it odd that you you can remember what you weighed on particular days, even years ago?

So even though I'm about 10 pounds over my ideal, I'm good with that even if my creep-down doesn't proceed any further. Its still an amazement to me that I am able to only eat things I like, be satisfied and yet do not balloon back up.

It seems easier for me to maintain at about 5-10 lbs. more than I strive for as well. I now weigh what I weighed graduating high school 150 -155 (and that was 40 years ago). My boobs were bigger back then though, I've had a reduction over 5 years ago after my second hcg round - lol!
