Welcome, it is a little easier sometimes to be in a group where everyone is working from the same rule book. Maybe some others of like mind will find their way here.

I guess I'll post this to POP'ers, was blueberries ever on the official fruit list? I guess I only ever did strawberries, apples, and grapefruits, but it's been awhile since I look at protocol and I can't even be certain I didn't get my fruits from the clinic where I started.

Strawberries, apple, grapefruit, orange are the only fruits on the original protocol list.

Joining this thread too. Will be glad to get to know everyone and help each other out! Oh and most importantly, celebrate in each other's successes! As far as my POP history, it was back in 2011 when I lost 57 lbs. I gained about 40 of that back over the last 4 years, and now have about 18 lbs to lose before getting back to that point where I stopped in 2011. I want to break through that record of 168 and get to 160. But these first two rounds since 2011 have not been POP and I haven't had the success that I was hoping for. So I'm going back to what I know best - POP (but with coconut aminos here and there lol).

This second round has been more mentally challenging that other rounds - I guess more stress in my life, I'm distracted, not as dedicated, all the above. I had a 10 day PI and just came back in p2 three days ago and down 3 lbs. I've tried to stay POP with the exception of about a cup of miracle noodles (which I'm banning because I find them gross now lol), coconut aminos (don't cause any stalls or gains), and a few shots of vodka (no reprecussions yet). My goal for the rest of this round (30 days if I can manage) is to stay POP as much as possible because that is what works best for this diet (obviously) and gives you the best chance at stabilizing and maintaining afterward. Again, obviously stuff. It's like the saying goes ,"You can't have your cake and eat it, too" You can't do this diet and then trick yourself into thinking it's okay to get off protocol. That was my folly in thinking before. It's tough. This diet is TOUGH! But it's so rewarding and it's the only thing that has worked for me. WE owe it to ourselves to do it right and make long term changes in our thoughts about nutrition, ourselves, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

    FTW!

For me, there is no other way to go but POP. All diets had stopped working for me, including fasting, before I found HCG. The whole first round as I was losing was day after day of waking up to astonishment that the scale was trending down, and yet I WASN'T HUNGRY or feeling horrible. I do NOT want to mess with this miracle formula. I don't view it as something I can tweak. I view it as a prescription that works. Who would change their medical prescription if you saw something that was working successfully at last?

Each little off protocol allowance does trick you into thinking you can get away with something else. I think it's best not even start going there.

Glad you are having success after your PI, Natalie.

This round has settled in now to a comfortable routine. I tend to keep my proteins the same every day (chicken and fish) and just rotate the veggies and fruits around that. I have one fruit for breakfast (usually apple) and the other for a mid-afternoon snack.

I had no hunger at all on my skip day, so that's a confirmation that my dose is right on at 125iu, which is always a comfort. Having to adjust dose the first week is tragic for someone like me that generally loses slowly for the rest of the round.

HCG is the only thing that works for me as well, and I must say I had to stay on Protocol for it too work properly., I was amazed at how I could eat so little and not feel any hunger. Plus the weight loss in the first week, kept me motivated as well as this forum.

I didn't have to exercise hard, and just did my normal walks. I never felt healthier when I am on hcg.. Not sure why that is, but so true for me. Energized and motivated. I must say the first stall I had scared the heck out of me, until I read the thread on Stalls and listened to others as to why they happen

My hardest part , and learning more after each round I have done is to maintain properly. But this does take time and work to find what foods work for you. Can't rush it. After trying something new, take a few days before you try something else. Sometimes this can be difficult, and if it is, make sure to weigh daily and then do a correction.

I also am not tempted by fast food, and all those bad foods anymore, as I know what they will do to me, and plus I would feel miserable after

Thanks to people like Haylie Pomroy (FMD), THM, Lyn-genet, there are so many healthy food options out there that are good for you, and let you feel like your enjoying the food.

Even with knowing what foods I can eat, I still need to pinpoint certain foods that cause me inflammation, or what causes that slow creeping of weight. I have been in P4 since April something, can't remember now lol, and managing to maintain. So will say two months for sure anyway by end of June here.

Like Leez, I kept my protein as either Chicken and fish, or chicken and beef. Different vegetable for lunch and supper. Usually celery/cucumbers or lettuce with seasonings of course.

    Good Luck Natalie.

    Good Morning All :)

I agree, following the protocol is the best thing for me too. I recently learned I've been sloppy. i mindlessly purchased coconut aminos bc others on the forum were talking about how good it is. Ugh thank goodness someone questioned its use while on hcg, alerting me that's it's not POP. And of course I know that bc I've read P&I several times. I got sloppy. So I'm here to learn, share, encourage, and celebrate with all you POPers!

Leez I do the same thing, I keep my choices very simple. I don't make chilis or soups etc. For me there is relief and comfort in the simplicity. A mini vacay. DH travels a lot but when he's home he has no problem eating my meals (in appropriate quantity for him & plus another veggie) or grilling his own meal.

Jayk Hey kudos on maintaining since April! Way to go!
I also feel good while on hcg. Body pain lessens and thyroid and adrenals seem happier. I believe my difficulty maintaining was also foods subtley causing an inflammatory response. I need to work on this as well. On vlcd 3 I noticed I had almost no sinus congestion when I woke up. Huge clue I was consuming something that caused my body to produce congestion. Now to play food detective...
When you pinpoint your sources of inflammation what will you do? Will you eliminate those foods or laser them or...?

AFM today is vlcd 5 and my first skip day. I Started at 153.7, gained 2lbs loading. This morning I weighed in at 150.9. A slower start than I've enjoyed on last rounds but nuttin to complain about DH returns from a 6-day trip today' I wonder if he will notice any changes in my bod. My stomach feels flatter to me.

Let's make it a great day forum friends

Sassy, your story with the coconut aminos is why a thread like this group is a good idea for those of us that don't want to be experimenting with something that works.

With all the input and suggestions from those that follow other variations, its easy to lose sight of the importance of following of the actual medical prescription, which includes the food lists.

This is my end of week 1 VLC weigh in today. 6.6 pounds lost from start. (insert celebration dance here)

That is a half pound better than my first round!
It makes me tentatively hopeful that I won't have to do a long round to get back to my goal. The last time I did a 30 day round, I only lost 11 pounds, so it would be awesome to get it done quicker.
