Sassy - you've had a lot of success so far. Keep it up! I use coconut aminos almost daily (1 tsp or so) with no problem. There's always that risk. I almost feel guilty for being on this thread but other than the coconut aminos, I stick to protocol. Do what's right for you! POP is the BEST way to go afterall. Hubby will notice a difference I'm sure!

Leez - Excellent first week! and congrats on breaking your record! Can't wait what Week 2 has in store for you.

AFM - Down 2.4 today. Woot! It was nice to see considering TOM is so close. I'm not getting too comfy with my current number due to TOM, but it's still nice to see. Final weigh in for Week 1 is tomorrow but VLCD6 and I'm -7.2 lbs down. Could not be more thrilled. I feel good, have tons of energy, happy, motivated. HCG is truly a miracle.

    Good luck to everyone today!

P.S. Can I still be on this thread even though I use coconut aminos? I won't talk about it or encourage others to use it on this thread. I promise.

    Yay Natalie, great loss!

You can certainly be in this thread. Our only discussion rule is not to recommend off-protocol items or practices. All advice should be based on the Original Manuscript. Talking about whether something is on protocol or not is part of reason we are here. Its a learning situation for all of us, as many time we think we are completely on protocol, and then discover that we misunderstood something and need to adjust to get back on.

Sometimes you discover good things. Like for me, finding out that whole milk is likely what Dr. Simeons included in his menu allowance of 1 T. milk. That discovery has made my first cup of morning coffee so much more enjoyable. When I started out, I just assumed that since fat was so tightly controlled during P2, that you had to use skim milk. Bleh. I had done several rounds before I figured this out.

A lot of people think Braggs aminos are on protocol because its included in so many posted P2 recipes, which they are not, and are often shocked to find that out.

On recipes, its best to approach any P2 recipe with skepticism, because what people consider allowable varies from person to person.

I'm hoping for a good week two for all of us.

Got it! I use half and half - even just a tsp a day sometimes and it makes me sooo happy. Something I have rediscovered from past rounds (5-6 years ago) is that if I eat beef earlier in the day and then fish or chicken for dinner, I have much better losses, rather than the other way around. I'm O positive so I feel I do well with beef but I've noticed I don't lose as much when I eat it for dinner. Weird. One of those things.

I look forward to learning more from this POP thread because after this round, I'm sure I'll need to do at least 1 (maybe 2 more rounds) and I want them to stay OP as much as possible.

    Thanks, Leez
Here's to success in Week 2!

I sometimes use my tablespoon of milk for an orange "sherbet". But generally, I'd rather have in that first cup of coffee.
Some of my other favorite P2 recipes are here: P2 POP Recipes

With half and half, you should be ok if you keep amounts to match the fat content in a T. of whole milk, as the carb amounts are the same.

    1T. whole milk: fat = .5 grams
    1 T. half & half: fat = 1.7 grams

So 1 tsp. half & half is probably about right.

Its amazing how happy-making it can be to have that morning coffee taste right.

So I'm here to learn, share, encourage, and celebrate with all you POPers!

Leez I do the same thing, I keep my choices very simple. I don't make chilis or soups etc. For me there is relief and comfort in the simplicity. A mini vacay. DH travels a lot but when he's home he has no problem eating my meals (in appropriate quantity for him & plus another veggie) or grilling his own meal.

Jayk Hey kudos on maintaining since April! Way to go!
I also feel good while on hcg. Body pain lessens and thyroid and adrenals seem happier. I believe my difficulty maintaining was also foods subtley causing an inflammatory response. I need to work on this as well. On vlcd 3 I noticed I had almost no sinus congestion when I woke up. Huge clue I was consuming something that caused my body to produce congestion. Now to play food detective...
When you pinpoint your sources of inflammation what will you do? Will you eliminate those foods or laser them or...?

AFM today is vlcd 5 and my first skip day. I Started at 153.7, gained 2lbs loading. This morning I weighed in at 150.9. A slower start than I've enjoyed on last rounds but nuttin to complain about DH returns from a 6-day trip today' I wonder if he will notice any changes in my bod. My stomach feels flatter to me.

Let's make it a great day forum friends
Hi Sassy... Congrats on your loss, no matter how much it is. I wish you well on this round. I have nevered lasered my foods as yet. This time I am really watching carefully as to only try one new food at a time, but hopefully come fall I want to try Lyn-Genets New Metabolism Plan, and with that you follow her meal plan strictly and check your body temp and weight every morning. Her book is a good read. I think following her plan, I hope anyway, that it would work and find what foods work and don't work for me.
Sometimes though a food that doesn't work, may work six months down the road.

I also looked at the Reactive Foods Chart, now see some foods I thought were okay for me, actually are highly reactive and do cause me a problem.

Heck even in P2, certain foods on Protocol didn't work for me either. So I avoided them, and just stuck with what did work best for me on P2.

I like you have read Pounds & Inches many times as well. I recommend most people should to fully understand how it works. I always found I could defend/explain the diet better to those non-believers lol, that think we are starving ourselves

I wish you all good success this week Good job Leez and Natalie on your losses.

Leez I totally agree about being able to have that coffee with cream / milk .... A must for me

Is that chart posted here on the forum or another site? I'm very interested in looking at that. I will search the forum but if its elsewhere I'd really appreciate if you'd post a link or addy.

Yes I'm noticing the same thing. I seem to be reacting to some of the P2 foods. My Fitbit has a heart rate monitor and I can see that my HR increases when I eat certain veggies. From what I've read that is another way to know if your body is sensitive to an item. So I've been avoiding those also.

Thx so much for the input. Good luck as you figure what works for your body

You can find the reactive foods list by doing an internet search for:
    lyngenet reactive foods list

The first result will be a pdf file of the list. If you don't want to download it, just view it from the cached version. The link to that will be in the little down arrow at the end of the title.

I found the list is only moderately helpful, because it just gives percentages. So if you are not in that percentage, its not going to be a reactive food for you. I also found that I would avoid trying things on the high reactive list rather than just test for myself. So it actually may slow you down. Or it may confirm things you already know.

Its the beginning of week 2 for me, and my loss today was .2. So here we go with the week 2 slowdown. Right on schedule.

But the good news is that I had a great week 1, almost 7 pounds down. I've had roundss where I was only 3 pounds to the good at the end of week1, so this is excellent.

So glad to find this group! I am currently doing my first round ever (VLCD 22), and was so thrown by all the people on other threads talking about eating things that my consultant had strictly forbidden.

I don't find this hard to follow at all, maybe because I just committed myself fully from the get-go, and never expected to find little ways to sneak around protocol. The way I see it, this is the plan, I have no choices to make, and that's that.

This week was a testament to commitment! I went to visit my daughter at sleepaway camp in upstate NY (I live in FL). I packed frozen pre-cooked, portioned protein with a bunch of ice packs, and it was still very cold when I arrived. I had my syringes in a little cooler in my carry on. Stopped to grab fruits and veggies from a market when I arrived, and arranged for my hotel to provide a rented fridge.

The camp provided SO many delicious looking treats all weekend, but I stayed perfect. Visiting ended at 10pm on Monday, but on Monday afternoon I was informed that my aunt had passed away, and the funeral would be Wednesday morning in Montreal. I had packed only enough filled syringes to last until Tuesday morning, so I couldn't fly straight from NY to Mtl. So I stayed at camp until 10pm, went to my hotel upstate for a few hours, and hit the road at 3am to make it back to NYC in time for an 8am flight. Arrived in Florida, hurried home to grab more syringes and frozen protein (and funeral clothes), and headed back to airport for a 6pm flight back north to Canada. That day was HARD simply because I was awake for so many hours with no distractions. I woke up hungry at 2:30am, but forced myself to wait until 10:30 for my first fruit, or else the day would have stretched out too long ahead of me from there. I also tried to time my water to I would pee a bunch of times between the two flight, and not be constantly getting up on the plane. I am super pleased I have pulled this off!

Wow, Lime what a challenge you had with all that traveling. You are truly a testiment that we can make this work no matter what the circumstances are.

I am currently doing my first round ever (VLCD 22), and was so thrown by all the people on other threads talking about eating things that my consultant had strictly forbidden.
That is exactly why we have this group. It can be so seductive reading everyone's variations, even if you are very committed to following the original protocol. Hmm...that seemed to work for her, so maybe it would be ok for me.... and there you are, going off protocol and wondering why it didn't work for you.

Thank you Sassy. It is a challenge indeed. That is so good you are noticing changes food makes as well. Good Luck to you as well, and hope the changes you make help.
So far this time in P4, I have avoided cheeses , except a bit of parmesan on Caesar Salads. Also no nuts whatsoever have I tried yet. I haven't been able to limit myself on those, so thought I would just avoid them altogether.
I do however indulge in Old Dutch Blue Corn Tacos, and can get away with it so far. Other brands of it, not so well. I can enjoy a sandwich with sprouted bread, and or artisan rye bread. So that is nice as well

Leez is correct about the Chart, but I just look at the percentage , and if its high, I may try a small amount , and if I gain... I then avoid it. Or I simply avoid all high percentage stuff and continue with the lower ones.

Glad you found us Lime. That is an incredible journey you have been on so far, and very dedicated. Sounds like myself while on hcg. I make it work, and find it easy as well as long as I don't try to change it. I accepted it for what it is. But you have done well. Life throws us curves every now and then, and you are triumphing through it. That is awesome.

I feel as long as my dosage is right, and even if I am up during odd hours, for whatever reason, I stick to plan...... Congrats and condolences to you

I'm halfway through week 2 and down another .8. It will be interesting to compare this week 2 to my other rounds without the lipotropics. My best week 2 was the first round at 5 pounds. My worst was 1.8. The others were all around 2-3.

I'm finally into territory I haven't seen since late 2015. It feels good.

Was POP today. Brought my own food to a BBQ and stuck to it! Drank plenty on water, now sleepytime tea and bed. Hope by Monday and after TOM that I'm under 179.8.
Night all. A new day of POP tomorrow!
