I meant to check in earlier today, but I never got the chance.

I was back down to LDW +3 this morning. Instead of adjusting my LDW, I have adjusted my range. If I look back at the last week (with the exception of yesterday) I have been in the range of LDW +1 to +3 lbs. That's actually pretty stable.

I am impressed with your commitment, Rusty! Both to your family and to the plan. My husband and son are on their own if they want non-protocol foods. Of course, it's only usually 4-5 weeks per round for me, so not too long. As a bonus, both of them are becoming really good cooks.

Thanks. Yesterday was quite a challenge, I made Paleo Krunch (which I LOVE to snack on), beef jerky, and a large pot of Beef Stew (I'll be canning the leftovers). My habit when I cook is to not lick my fingers. I will admit to one piece of beef jerky, it was tasty, and I just ate it on top of my dinner of steak and cucumbers. I am not too worried, since I am a fairly sure I have yet to hit 500 calories of daily meals.

My boys are always wanting to help with cooking, the only problem is that they are still too short to reach the counters. My six year old will do some adding and mixing (he's taller), but my 4 yo is just way too short, so sometimes I hold the bowl and let him stir and such. It's important that boys learn to cook for themselves (IMO), so that they can make better diet choices of McDonald's and Pizza Hut.

This morning saw another 1.6 lb. drop (Yea!!!). Today is my skip day, but 5 days of VLC has left me 12.8 lbs lighter. I am only 11.4 lbs. away from my ldw, then it's into my best numbers, and just a hop down to virgin fat territory!!!! I am feeling the fat cells going away, mainly on my upper body, but I am getting a mushier tummy, as the fat cells get replaced with water. I love having collar bones!!!! In a few more days, I will be measuring to see if I've had any inch changes.

Off to start my day, canning beef stew. Toodles!!!

Rusty! You are doing great! Almost 13 pounds in 5 days is FABULOUS!! I don't have to say "Keep up the good work", `cuz I already know you will!

Got the cortisone shot Thursday... and feel much, much better today. Almost no pain, except at the site of the shot. Hopefully by the end of day tomorrow, I'll be all better. My diet attitude is no better, but it will be... eventually.

    Blessings all!!

One step at a time... One day at a time.

Cpow, I am glad to hear that the cortisone is doing some good. Less pain means less attitude. You still have time to wrap your head around doing another round.

There was no joy for me today, I am still at 215.8. On the bright side, I didn't have a gain, yea!!! After losing so much so fast, it's to be expected, maybe tomorrow will bring a decent loss.

Off to start my day. TTFN.

Cpow - Glad to hear you are getting some relief for you knee. I hope you continue to heal.

Rusty - I hear you about the kids being a bit too little to really help. It's good you let them do what they can. My son is 15 now and he is great in the kitchen. Do you do much in the way of food preserving? I think it's cool that you are canning your own beef stew. I am just starting to get interested in this sort of thing. I experimented with fermenting my own sauerkraut recently and it came out so yummy! And totally P2 compliant as it is only cabbage and salt. I didn't make too much to start so I only have 4 quarts put up, but I can't wait to do more.

OOOOOO, sauerkraut!!! I have been wanting ferment cabbage. I am still in search of a big container (a crock). Truth be told I am into prepping. I am hoping this round with the beef stew will give me the wherewithal to continue to can other things like chicken, bacon, and butter. That Viva market I told you about, has some great chicken sales, buy big, can!!!!!

Today, sees me at a 1.2 lb. loss. 5 more lbs. will see me into the 00's, then "one"derland!!

Yay for a good loss this morning! AFM, still stable in the LDW +1 to +3 range.

Whether you call it prepping or just stocking up, it's always a good idea to have a certain amount of food and supplies on hand just in case. We eat so very little pre-prepared foods that stocking up on boxes and cans is pretty foreign to me. I am just now starting to learn about canning and preserving homemade food.

I got a 3 gallon fermentation crock at Cook's Hardware on Del Paso Blvd. the other week, but I haven't used it yet. They have quite a bit of canning and preserving supplies at what seem like decent prices. I had borrowed a crock from a friend of mine who does food preserving for my sauerkraut, but I wanted my own. I won't get around to doing any more until after we get back from our trip. I am looking forward to specifically to more sauerkraut and real pickles.

I am definitely going to check Cook's out. Where are you headed to on your trip? I hope you have a great time! You are doing so great staying in range of your ldw.

After a cool 1.6 drop, I am holding there for right now. Hopefully, tomorrow will see another drop.

We're going to Tennessee to visit my brother and his wife. We're driving and are making an adventure out of the trip. I feel like we live in this great big country and so many of us never have the chance to see very much of it. The costs difference between flying out and renting a car vs. driving and those associated costs was minimal. I'm excited, but nervous, which is normal, I guess. My mom is watching the house and our pets are going to the kennels so no real worries there. I'm sure I'll feel better once we are actually on the road. LOL! It's just such an undertaking. I'm bringing my laptop with me so I should be able to check in from time to time while I'm out, but not as much as normal.

You're doing great so far, Rusty! Can't wait to join you in losing again.

We're society that moves too fast, so driving is great way to see as much as possible.

I am ready for you to join me too!!! This morning gave me a .4 lbs. loss, boo. Better than a gain, but doesn't register to me any better than a stall. WARNING TMI: I must start taking some magnesium, you know, to go.... I have Smooth Move tea, but it makes me gag.

On the positive side, I did some measuring, and I am down 10.5 inches (overall), yippee!!!!

    Yay for lost inches!

As for the magnesium, I take 500 mg every day. Keeps me regular all the time, and as an added benefit, I sleep much better and my legs have stopped twitching at night.

UHHHHGGGG. I am one day 3 of a stall. Frustrating at best. If I don't have a loss tomorrow, I will be doing an apple day, bleh. It's times like these that it's hard to keep focus. There is a good (or maybe bad) thing, my belly is getting really smooshy (gross, I know), but it does show some progress, now, if I could get the scale to cooperate. Two weeks down, another 6 more to go.

The magnesium helped a bit. I try not to rely on pills to help me along, but with so little food intake, there is plenty of room for things to back up. Another TMI moment! LOL.
