50? You don't say ... I guess that's why so many old folks move to Florida in their golden years. I love Boston; not as frigid as Toronto and not as hot and humid as Houston. Would you be able to take your business with you?

I am loving all the posts about stuff I can eat when on P3 ... I only ask that posters state whether the food is P2, P3 or beyond ... I am still a newbie on all this stuff and my mind might start playing tricks on me, on purpose.

I was wondering the same thing. Doesn't eating apples and vegetables make you run regular? I have never eaten such few calories/day in my adult life, so I don't know what to expect.

Ya Autumn, my thought exactly, I mean we eat lots of veggies, drink lots of water, have fruit....yet nothing????

Weird, I guess we need the oil to move it down the tubes???

And, I do have a few friends who travel those circles and are affected by it. As for me, this is my second go around at living in LA. The first time was in 1992 for nine months...and I HATED IT! I call it, "the Dark Period." And yes, I was an actress/singer then. This time my world has very little overlap with the entertainment industry, which is great by me. So, I am not unusually marred by the unrealistic media standards of beauty...that is, not more than anyone else in this country.

Btw, there is this huge billboard on the side of the Beverly Center that is an ad for bebe (I think?). It shows a woman with thick flowing sexy red hair wearing a white top and short skirt showing her midriff. She has absolutely no curves whatsoever, and is a stick. Whenever we pass it, my fiance makes a disparaging remark about it...he thinks its ridiculous, a grown woman's head on top of a 12 year-old girl's body....gotta love that man! :-)
hey i know the billboard you're talking about - it's so dumb. She is not sexy at all. It can really be hard living here in LA. The other day I caught up with an old friend who is gorgeous - long curly blond hair, huge blue eyes, and size 2 - and she was telling me that she is not pretty here in LA. She is single and she feels that there are clubs she won't go to because she is not hot enough in comparison to the other girls. It's so sad

So hard to catch up, work has me crazy busy. I love, love, love getting to know more about you all.
To answer the questions you lovely people put out there. I am 48, married to the most amazing man for 24 years (Sept we will celebrate 25). I have four precious kids, ages 17 to 24. For so many years DH and kids were my "hobby", so I kind of lost myself. I am never without a good book, it is more important than food (so why did I get so heavy?). I love to take long walks with my DH, watch bad reality TV (love Real Housewives of BH), love cooking shows but I never, ever cook, and am a Laker fan (though not so much lately).
My motivation for losing weight was last week's Gala, at first, but after the first month I was hooked. I realized that I wanted to continue losing and doing it right, not just fit into a dress for a party (hence I am still on P2 right now).
Although it is so important to have goals, which a few of you have talked about. So I am thinking of a new goal, something I will do when I hit my lowest weight. ideas????

The cauliflower pizza is delicious.I used to make it all the time when I was eating low carb before. I'll post the recipe here for everyone getting ready to head into P3.I also am dying for pizza! It's the first thing I'm going to make when I hit P3!

I perfected this recipe, and this is exactly how to make it taste amazing! I can't remember the calorie count, it's around 400 calories, 20 + grams protein, 7 or 8 carbs- It was formulated perfectly for a medifast Lean & Green meal, so more toppings can be added and more sauce if you prefer.

You Won't Believe it's Cauliflower Pizza Crust

    Crust
    1 cup uncooked, cauliflower
    ¼ cup egg beaters
    1-2 garlic cloves, crushed
    ½ Cup FF shredded Mozzarella
    1 tsp Olive Oil

    Toppings
½ cup chopped tomatoes w/ spices of choice
1-2 tbsp Ragu or other light tomato sauce
    2-3 tsp Italian seasonings
    1-2 garlic cloves, crushed
    ½ cup LF Mozzarella
13 slices Smart Deli Pepperoni Style Veggie slices OR
1 MSF Sausage patty cooked and chopped up OR
ANY protein of your choice (chicken, beef, etc.)
4-5 chopped or torn Basil Leaves, optional

    Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Put chunks of fresh cauliflower in a food processor and process for 30 seconds. Measure out 1 cup, not compacted down. If you don’t have a food processor, you can use a cheese grater.
After measuring out 1 cup cauliflower, put it back into the food processor, and add ¼ cup egg beaters, crushed garlic, ½ cup shredded cheese, and olive oil, and blend for 30 seconds to 1 minute until nice and mushy and combined.
Spray cookie sheet or pizza pan with non stick spray, or use parchment paper or non-stick pan and thinly spread cauliflower mixture into a round pizza shape. 1 serving will cover an 8” pizza pan, and 2 servings will cover a 16” round pizza pan.
Bake uncovered for 20 minutes, then turn broiler on and broil for 5 minutes until brown. The timing on this is important. I tried this a couple different ways, and the browner the better. It’s Ok if the edges look burned, they will taste so good.
Next, chop tomatoes in food processor, blend for about 20 seconds. They will turn to liquid and that’s fine (or use ½ cup chopped tomatoes, draining out the juice). Add 1-2 tbsp tomato sauce to tomatoes (optional for a more “sauce” taste); add 2-3 tsp Italian seasonings, and 1-2 crushed garlic cloves (optional but recommended). Mix all together and spread on top of cauliflower crust.
Sprinkle ½ cup LF mozerella cheese, and top with the pepperoni slices or MSF sausage patty, or whatever protein you are using.
Broil pizza until the cheese is melted and slightly browning. Optional, add Basil to the top of the pizza and enjoy!

*I used Fat Free mozerella cheese for the crust and low fat mozerella cheese for the topping and it was perfect.

Can't wait to try this one!

    Thanks.

In a related topic, our favorite pizza joint is moving from across town to like 3 miles away. The building is supposed to be ready this month. We'll almost be in time for it.

Oh no! I feel so sad for your friend! Hot-ness is all about confidence. I'm sad that she has let the shallow-ness of the club scene take that away from her. However, clubs are never a good place to meet, and then keep, a guy. They are just good for the occasional hook-up or a wild night with the girls. Jeesh, I am SO glad I am not young and single anymore! She will have better luck meeting someone at events pertaining to her interests. There are tons of guys that feel just like her, that they can't compete in the club scene. And they are the only ones worth having anyway.

Here is a gross real-life story. This happened during my first time living in LA. I was working retail, and a male co-worker and I got to talking. This guy was actually a nice guy, but his group of friends were a bunch of D-bags. He confessed to me what was the strategy that he and his friends used to get lucky in the clubs. When arriving, try to hit on and hook up with the hot girls. But, if still not lucky and it was getting late and close to closing time, they would start hitting on the fat girls. Because fat girls were easy and desperate.

It was at that *exact moment* that I developed my prejudice against Southern California boys (these guys were from San Diego).

She is a runner and lifts weights, eats decently for a teenager (I catch her making and eating cookie dough now and again...) but not really worried about it. One of her best friends developed an eating disorder this fall. It CRUSHED my daughter, but she stood by her and really encouraged her to get the help she needed. Well, last weekend was the first time DD's friend was back in the 'circle' after treatment and to be honest, even though she gained 15lbs recently, she looks like hell. It about broke my heart. But - the other girls stepped up and we had healthy snacks as well as some junk (it was a sweet 16 after all) and they welcomed her back into the fold. I continue to worry about her, and have learned from my DD that she thinks she should look like her - ultra skinny, which comes naturally to DD, but to very few others in this world. Anyway, this has really opened up some discussions regarding eating and healthy choices, especially on the heels of an insane protocol like hCG! But it's all good and DD has learned a lot from it, so hopefully it is paying forward...

If I ever get the chance to talk with DD's friend, I'm going to. I just have to pray for the right words. I want to encourage her to quit harming her body and doing damage that is going to be so hard to recover from in 20 years...

Ok, enough sad stuff... back to either shoe **** or food **** - you pick!

    ~Fatty
Fatty, your DD sounds like an amazing friend...you obviously did a lot right in raising her! I hope her friend continues to get the support she needs. It sounds like she will, seeing that she has such good people in her life.

Naturally thin people look good...its the unnaturally thin ones that look weird. Unfortunately, there are a lot of those around here.

    Oh and I pick...BOTH! I want shoe and food ****! :-)
