Any other 'Weight Loss Apocalypse Protocol' followers out there??

I was just wondering if there are any other people out there who are following the Protocol as per the amazing book 'Weight Loss Apocalypse' by Robin Phipps Woodall?

I am on my VLCP day 9 and have not cheated or deviated once. I weighed myself on the morning on day 5 but won't weigh myself again until after a month on the protocol. Last round I lived and died by the scale and this time I don't want it to affect me mentally. Sure I have my goals and I will be a little disappointed if I don't reach them but I will try and not let it affect me emotionally or sway my resolve to do this round by the letter.

Also, I only eat when I am hungry and only to the point of satiation.

This is technically my second round but I intend to do this round by the book . My last round was a long one last year. I lost almost 20kg/44lbs and about 106cms from my body but I took a break at Christmas with the intention of going back on protocol after a weeks break but couldn't get back on track. So I just ended the round and didn't finish P3 or P4. Instead after 6 months I gained the weight back and was even more miserable then before. I had created food addictions that I didn't have last year. I even did the Virtual Gastric Band Hypnotherapy sessions. They helped a bit but I liked the thought of losing weight faster than that program provided.

My friend emailed me the 'Weight Loss Apocalypse' book and something just clicked and now I am back on protocol. This time I am using RX Nasal Spray as I asked my doctor to write me a prescription and he did, no questions asked.

So, if any one else out there is like me and is following the protocol the Weight Loss Apocalypse way, I'd love to hear from you. Maybe we could start a group.

If you haven't read her book yet, I highly recommend it. Definitely the best book out there on the hCG protocol and brings Dr Simeons' plan to the 21st Century. Also, check out Robin's Vlogs on youtube. Some amazing info and free videos.

I am! It has been life-changing.

I even have the workbook she gives to her patients at her clinic. It gives you a "shopping list" or a foods list of everything you can have on Phase 2 and it has *gasp* broccoli and cauliflower on it. I know some people will scream about that but from her own words she's tested her list of foods on thousands of patients and it never gave them a problem. With all the science she has uncovered regarding WHY Dr. Simeon's protocol worked, I trust her completely if she says I can have broccoli. She's not out to make a buck like the people who sell you fake HCG and tell you that you can eat 1200 calories a day, heck she has almost her entire book up on YouTube completely for free.

I have watched every single one of her YouTube videos, read the book, and now am using the workbook to track my daily food based on the hunger scale. It took me a good two weeks to learn when I was truly, physically hungry and when I wasn't. I know 100% now that once I get off protocol I will be able to sustain my size for the rest of my life.

This is so important to success, I think. She explains scientifically why we have what we call "stalls" or even gains during the protocol but lose overall, and why the scale should be completely ignored, or at most used once a week. She TOTALLY disagrees with Dr. Simeons that you should live by the scale and even take it with you on travel. Now every time I see someone on these forums talk about how a certain food stalled them, I think to myself "but you might have stalled regardless of having eaten that food." I especially wonder this with people who claim they've stalled eating on protocol foods - after reading Robin's literature and watching all her videos, I don't see how it's possible. I personally think they were just due for a stall.

It is so awesome to receive a reply from someone who loves Robin's WLA as much as I do. Nice to meet you Lucy!

I watch Robin Woodall's Vlogs on youtube all the time and have even downloaded some to my computer. I highly recommend that everybody should read the book and watch her Vlogs. Her information is so practical and simple and really opened my eyes! You don't have to be a hCG dieter to get usable knowledge from them.

I would love to see the workbooks/shopping list she gives out, do you have them in pdf format that you could email me??

I have decided to weigh myself weekly (it is torture not knowing lol but I am determined for the number not to affect my new eating habits, i have my goals but if I don't reach it, i will be disappointed but it won't stop my determination!!). I will be weighing every Sunday (tomorrow yay) and I haven't weighed myself since day 5, tomorrow will be VLCP day 15 so I have been on WLA protocol for 14 days and haven't deviated or cheated.

Since I only eat when I am sufficiently hungry, today all I have eaten so far (and it is almost 6pm) was my 2 cups of veggie stew (yum) I make which mixes veggies (but as Robin says, as long as you don't go over the 2 cups veggies for each lunch and dinner then you can mix) and my 100g of lean beef mince. I doubt I will need anything else today. Also, since I have started this version of the protocol I haven't had any of my allowable starches and I haven't used any stevia or approved sugar substitute. I believe that not having any starch in 14 days has helped any sweet cravings I normally would have. An orange or apple is enough for me right now.

I agree with your posts and my experience of weighing daily or sometimes more than once a day, i believe hindered more than helped my weight loss efforts. It is almost like you transfer one addiction (eg food) with the addiction of the scales. That number can make or break your day and if I had a day where I only lost a small amount or even remained at the same weight, then I would get down on myself and be more tempted to cheat or deviate. All that hard work seems useless unless the scale goes down a huge amount each day. It is a total mindfu*k and is not right, we shouldn't do it to ourselves. The body fluctuates so it stands to reason that your weight will too.

What day are you at now? I am currently VLCP day 14 of a do-over Round (technically Round 2 but the first round where I felt like I truly knew what is going on - thanks to Robin and her book).

    Sent you a PM Bonnie!

I am on VLCD 14 too! How funny! I am doing a full 42 day round this time, I want to lose 20lbs and have lost 5 so far (but had a rough first week with cheating at night). I'm with you, as much as I ranted about not weighing, I plan to do it about once a week, but not to reward myself or anything, mainly just to make sure nothing is horribly wrong. I weighed yesterday and I must admit, if it said I hadn't lost a single thing in these 14 days, I would've known something was NOT right. But I am definitely not ever going to weigh myself every single day, ever again. Robin does say in her book and some of her videos that weighing IS okay, just so long as it is not any more than once a week and not used as a reward.

It's funny about the crackers/toast, because Robin says they were completely on protocol, but only to use them as an emergency when you get to a 3 on the hunger scale or below. I've only had to eat them once when I was out somewhere and I got too hungry. And yes I am so glad that she explained how mixing veggies is fine, I love being able to have a salad that isn't just lettuce and chicken, but I can add tomato too - yum! I wish I could get away from using Stevia, but I think that would just leave me with plain water all day and night since I can't drink coffee or tea just plain black.

I think what I am excited most about is when I am off protocol I know I will be fine going to restaurants and living daily life without the constant obsession over how many calories are in something, how many carbs, etc. I'll just eat only when I'm physically hungry, and stop when I'm not hungry anymore. I've noticed this is what my teeny tiny friends do, they'll get salmon or pasta or pizza or whatever, but they'll stop 1/4 to 1/2 of the way through. My one friend might be 105lbs, maybe, and she told me she doesn't watch what she eats at all. This used to annoy me but now I realize she only eats when she's hungry and stops when she's full and now I'm thinking to myself "Oh well no duh, that's why she's thin eating whatever she wants!"

Have you heard of Paul McKenna? He's a British hypnotherapist and he has a program called "I Can Make You Thin." He basically preaches this exact same program, eat what you want only when you're hungry, and stop when you're full. It's just so simple. I really love the hypnotic sessions (the second part) of his CDs as they put you in a mini-trance and train your brain to this exact message. I'm not sure if it's been helping but I've been listening to it once a day for the past week or so.

    Hi everybody,

Great thread. I loved the book & just started watching her video logs. Thanx for the tip.
Am in p2 transitioning to p3 on Friday. Yay.
But am really nervous abt it. I was thinking of doing LR, since everybody seem to b doing great on it. But to b honest, I find Robin's system to make more sense. I was never a person who eats breakfast, not even back at school. I always needed 2-3 h after waking before I got hungry. So forcing myself to ve a huge breakfast within 30 min of waking...yek.
Haven't been following the hunger scale all the time on p2. For lunch & fruitd, I mostly do, but sometimes I still ve dinner without being hungry, cause I m afraid I wouldn't eat enough protein & veggies.
But I think I can trust my body to tell me when it needs food & when to stop & I am much better with social situations after reading the book.
However, I wish I could resist weighing myself every day. And since I ll b traveling the first 2 weeks of p3 I would just b too worried w/o weighing. I ve to wait to wean myself off the scale until I can completely trust my body again.
But I ve to say, that my 11 d stall made me take the scale less seriously than I used to

    Thanx for the thread.

    Hi Pensee!

According to Robin, eating when you are not hungry causes the release of lepin which is what is the biggest cause of us getting fat. So in my mind, knowing what I know from her book/workbook/vlogs/blog, anything that forces you to eat at certain times is not going to help solve the real problem, eating when we don't need leptin (i.e. eating when we aren't hungry). So because of that, the LR diet sounds like a bad idea to me. Just my 2 cents though!

    Hey y'all,

I am so glad this thread has a few more followers... yay!

So, I just weighed and measured myself and at first I was disappointed with the weightloss in the 2 weeks but I looked back at my stats from last round (at the end of last year) and whilst i lost a few pounds more in those two weeks, i started heavier and still was heavier than I am now by a few 100 grams. So yay me lol. I also lost a sh*tload more inches and cm's from last time too (but whilst I was smaller scale-wise this time, i have a few extra inches here and there....hmmmm)

Anyway, after 14 days on VLCP according to WLP, I am down 5.5 kgs/12.10 lbs which is a loss of about .4kgs or .86 pounds a day. Pretty fricken terrific when you break it down. Like I said, I was disappointed at first considering I lost 3.3kg/7.26lbs after the first 4 days but when you look at my inch loss 22inches/55.9cms lost in 2 weeks. You gotta say yay!

Lucy, I started off having my coffee with 1/3 of my milk allowance (max 15mls a day which = 1tbsp) and having 3 cups of coffee, usually 1 or 2 regular and 1 decaf but today I decided to try it black and I actually like it. Probably because I got used to having such a small amount of milk (5mls of milk each cup)and the switch isn't much different.

I have an amazing mixed veggie recipe that I made yesterday in bulk. I used 2 large 800g tins of crushed/diced tomatoes (no added starches or sugars in the tin), 9 large mushrooms chopped, 2 onions diced, a bag of fresh tomatoes (prob 10 medium tomatoes) diced, 1 green capsicum/bell pepper, 1 stalk of coriander, 1 jar of tomato paste that doesn't contain any added starches or sugar, and a bunch of dried herbs/spices (paprika, Italian herbs (make sure they don't contain hidden sugars or starches), garam masala, dash of chili powder, sea salt/pepper/garlic powder. I also added 2 ice cubes of my homemade chicken stock.

I browned the onions in minced garlic and ginger and then added them to the concoction of simmering tomato stew. I simmered gently for a few hours and voila!

I usually enjoy 2 cups of this stew with 100g of lean beef mince once a day and it fills me up so much.

Re: leptin, it is my understanding that whenever you eat, leptin is produced. so if you eat when you aren't hungry you get flooded with leptin when you don't need it. Any excess leptin that isn't used has to go somewhere so it is stored in newly created fat cells. Eating when you are only hungry makes so much sense! Listen to your body, it knows what it wants, needs and how to do it's job; we just don't let it!

    Hugs and kisses,

    Bonnie

I also want to say hi and welcome to Marlamom, KitCat and Pensee. I hope you all stick around!

Lucy, also wanted to let you know what I do drink-wise. I squeeze a bunch of lemons and then freeze the juice in to ice cubes (also do the same with my homemade chicken stock) and then if I am bored of water I have an ice cube of lemon in my water or in a glass of sparkling mineral water. Yummo! Really hits the spot.

Not sure what you can do to stop cheating at night (maybe save a piece of fruit - an orange for night when you might need extra sweetness) but this time around I haven't cheated or deviated at all and am not interested to. I have decided that as long as I'm on the VLCP this time that I will be 110% devoted to working the program to the letter and the moment that becomes too hard then I will go to P3 etc. So far I think I will easily be able to do 40-60 days - if I feel so inclined.
