About 40-50 grams. I think 7 oz of tilapia would have closer to 40 grams and 7 oz of chicken breast closer to 50 grams, so that's a good estimate.
Hi All,
I am brand new to this and will be starting VLCD tomorrow for the first time. Try as I may, I can't find exactly how much protein is supposed to be consumed a day. I think I read that it's 50-60gr, but it doesn't seem like I will get to that with the eggs, CC and whey powder I plan on using. Does anyone have the correct figures?

Thank you! I am on VLCD1 and want to make sure I'm staying as close to protocol as possible.

Good point jmmrr!
But I noticed you posted non-vegetarian options in this thread a couple of days ago?! Chicken, tilapia...those aren't vegetarian options.![]()
Are you talking about my reply to someone asking how many grams of protein are required for the diet? I answered that there's no gram requirement; there's only food requirements, so vegetarians should try to mimic the nutritional makeup of the required foods. For example, don't eat chicken or tilapia, but choose foods (vegetarian foods) with similar number of protein and fat grams to chicken and tilapia.
Hi, according to the article I read, we really do not need much protein as we usually think. However, I guess it may depend also on our body weight and eating habits. Well, I found something online that could help us decide on the protein intake we should have per day. You may read about it here. I hope it will be of help to you guys![]()
