Thread: P2 Meat Alternatives

    P2 Meat Alternatives

I posted this to the P2 forum but I wasn't getting any replies so maybe it was in the wrong spot. Hopefully someone can offer some advice?

    Hi everyone!!

I'm on P2 day 2 and I'm wondering how others have done with alternative protein sources. Personally, I'm not a big meat-eater and having eaten it 3x already in a couple days is difficult for me. Is it possible to go meatless a couple days and substitute something like a sugar free whey protein powder, or 0% cottage cheese? Then maybe have meat maybe once a day instead?

    MEat sub

I go to 3 egg whites and 1 egg sometimes. Hard boiled or scrambled. I also do jayrobb protein shake but add coffee to mine instead of water which is way better for me then water. I have not tried the 0% cottage cheese as of yet. I have had the 0% ***e with strawberries if i skipped my 2nd dinner and have not had any issues. I am dealing with uti again so the doc suggested that the ***e was a good plan for a few days. My family are vegetarians so cooking meat is sometimes really hard for them to smell so I try to give them a bit of a break. Last round I did do a bocca burger 2xs and did not gain nor stall, but make sure you buy the non GMO naturals brand. Quorn makes a pretty good veg sub as well but can not remember the carbs on that brand.

I ate 1/2 cup of starch or beans in place of meat. I'm not interested in eating processed foods like protein powders, plus the latest studies indicate that animal protein is harmful anyway so you want to avoid it. Being plant based is healthiest and yes you can do it on HCG. I lost better on my second round than on my first. First round I followed Ornish proteins - egg whites and some fish. Second round I ate 1/2 cup of cooked beans, sweet or white potatoes, corn, rice, split peas, or quinoa. I lost more on the second round.

Stick to whole plant foods, it's better for your cholesterol, it prevents cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer's, and because they have no fat and a lot of fiber, they are just healthier. HCG primarily works because the diet is low calorie. So it doesn't really matter what you eat. 1/2 cup of any starch contains approximately 100-120 calories. That is the equivalent of 3 1/2 ounces of meat. good luck!

Bocas are really processed. I would avoid. They have oils in them as well, don't they? IF you are eating processed foods and meat, whether something is GMO isn't really germane. Animal products and processed foods contain a package of bad stuff.

I did my second round using whole plant based starches and beans. I ate 1/2 cup of beans, grains, potatoes, or legumes in place of meat. I did better on the second round than the first. Plus I had more energy. (probably because starches have more CHO).

TVP - textured vegatable protein (you buy it dry and rehydrate it with water and then use it as a ground beef substitute in sauces and casseroles

Tofu - chopped fine it takes on the flavor of what you're cooking and disapears into the dish

Quinoa - a south american grain that is high in protein (use it like you would rice)

Legumes (beans, peanuts, lentils, chick peas)

    Peanut or almond butter

    Eggs

    Tuna

I do alot of meat alternatives because I have one vegetarian and two pescetarians (no meat but eat fish). It's really not that hard once you get rolling. I found the hardest part was to retrain my brain to understand that a meal can be complete without meat on the plate.

I sent you a message Did you cook the beans? How much weight did you lose, and how many days?

Can anyone expound on this further? My daughter has not been doing well on the original protocol, so was thinking of using protein alternative and see if that helps her lose better. We are on VLCD day 9 and she is two pounds away from her preload weight. Am thinking that a better starch might help her??? Thanks

You can eat starches on p2? I would love to go this route! It would be so much more satisfying than the meat!

You cant eat starches in P2 and expect to lose like you do if you follow the protocol. Best to read pounds and inches before starting.

Vegetarians don't eat meat and do the protocol. I use cottage cheese some also. Fish, protein shakes, milk, eggs. There are a number of choices. I also eat my meat first because it's what I like the least so it's better eating when I'm the most hungry.
Hi everyone. I'm new here but not new to hcg. Please feel free to send me a message and say hi. I love to talk to people and share success stories! I'm hear to learn and encourage people! I've lost 30 pounds and I'm currently using Homeopathic Hcg. This has changed my life.
