Thread: RAW Vegan?!? HELP!

  1. #13
Good luck to you! If you are having success and staying away from carbs, sugars, and starches I would say you are doing very well.

    Keep up the good work.
70 Lbs lost on hcg diet homeopathic drops

    Hi there-
I just wanted to shout out cuz there isn't that much info on doing the HCG diet as a raw vegan. I started my load this past Sunday and finished Monday so my first day of the diet was on Tuesday. It is Friday morning and I have lost 15 pounds doing it as a raw vegan. I am on the homeopathic drops from DIYHCG.com. This is what I do and I hope it helps: In the morning upon waking I drink between 25-35 oz of water. I have a cup of coffee black. At around 10am I have an apple and for lunch I have a salad with kraft fat free italian dressing or something like that. I continue to drink water. By the end of the day I typically have had between 75-100 oz of water.

For lunch I have a vegan protein shake the raw for life one. Basically, I saturate it with vanilla stevia and drink it down. Supper is another protein shake smoothy. If I am still hungary I will have either an apple or cut up 2 cucumbers. I don't cheat, don't do milk or egg products and have had great success. I hope this info helps. It was hard for me to figure out how to do it as a vegan but I think I have found my stride. I started on VLCD1 at 168 and this morning it is VLCD4 at 153. I think the key is not trying to game the system and just eating clean and not cheating. Right now, I have lost so much in such little time that the weight loss is more gratifying than cheating. Although I don't typically do milk or egg products, I may try to substitute a protein shake with a fat free greek yogurt dip with my veggies. I am still thinking about that and may make that my thanksgiving treat. Anyway- much success-

    That's awesome VeganYogaGirl!! Congrats!!
When you say you eat salad.. what exactly do you put in your salad? I hear a lot of people eating salads on HCG and I've read that you're not suppose to mix veggies in one meal.

Tomorrow I have decided to go back to eating fish.
I haven't been eating much because its just getting hard for me to have an appetite at all and I've been getting sick because of it... obviously.
But its just so hard to eat the same thing every day. I've got 2 weeks left and have been at a plateau for the past week. I'm very depressed about it but the idea of "spicing things up" by eating fish has brightened my mood for the moment. Fish and zucchini. Hopefully it'll help me pass my plateau and continue losing cause nothing else is.
I'm so tired of experimenting.. I thought it would be a lot easier.. never thought I'd get so bored and frustrated with this!!! But I gotta keep going and keep trying..
I've lost 24 lbs so far.. I want so badly to lose the next ten in these next two weeks... technically a week and a half since thats all the time left of actually taking the drops.
So close to the end and all this had to happen! GRR! Oh well... at least I lost 24 lbs.. it would have taken me months to get this far if I did it without HCG.

Please do NOT let this throw any of you off by me saying this.. I just had to vent. Maybe somebody went through my same issue?
Be as stubborn as possible during HCG.. I think thats the main key to stay focused.

After such a big loss it is very normal to have a week of little to no loss and even kind of up down. it is the dreaded 2nd or 3rd week stall. But it is not technically a stall as it is just the body catching up and the inches are shifting etc.. just stay strong and it will pass.
“Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength.”

Thank you abbi! It did pass!
I searched the forum and did find that most people hit a plateau while doing this and it happens mostly to the people who lose about a pound a day and are doing really well... of course.
But I took a chance and tried an apple day and lost another pound this morning!

I have been on HCG for 3 weeks now and only eat eggs or fish 3 or 4 times a week. I am getting my protein from cold pressed Hawaiian spirulina tablets.

My typical daily menu starts with a smoothie for morning tea consisting of 1 portion of the allowed fruit, water, ice, 1 tbsp macca powder & brewers yeast, 6 soaked goji berries for sweetening (you could use stevia instead) and 1 tbsp of cacao powder. (I make it up before work and put in a thermal mug and take to work with me)

For lunch I have 6 spirulina tablets plus an allowed vegetable, usually diced celery, cucumber or torn baby spinach with kelp noodles marinated in tumeric, ginger and basil wrapped in lettuce leaves.

Afternoon Tea is the other allowance of fruit sprinkled with bee pollen.

dinner will either be a repeat of lunch or I will have eggs or fish instead of the spirulina. (occasionally I might do a strifry, but I much prefer my vegetables raw)

I have lost 9 kg in 3 weeks (I think that is about 22.5 pounds) and I have so much energy, I am sleeping well and am never hungry. It may not be as much as meat eating HCGers, but I am extremely happy with the results.

I also take a product called Max GXL which assists the body in producing glutothiane which is the body's own natural and powerful antioxidant.
I only do light exercise - Yoga, pillates and swimming 3 to 4 times per week.

its still just confusing to me. like, what does it mean any raw foods i like? can i eat as much as i want to?
i just hate how they are not specific at all when it comes to vegetarians and vegans!
i made up my own way of doing it now and its working. down 20 lbs in 20 days! 20 days left.
I started loading today, and will be doing a vegan hhcg program. Your losses are terrific!

When you say you made up your own way of doing it, I am wondering what you found that works for you. Like your earlier posts, I am wondering how much of this and that to eat, which foods work best, etc.

Can you help a fellow vegan out? I will be eating quite a bit of raw foods, but probably not all raw. Knowing how you worked out the raw version might help me to tweak it to get in some quinoa or brown rice occasionally without gaining.

Thanks, in advance, for any light you can shed on this.

I didn't do it completely raw either... though I wanted to. Its just so hard to jump into being a raw vegan let alone vegan. I went back to eating fish for several reasons but this is what I ate before I switched back to fish:

    breakfast: apple
lunch: 1 piece of ezekiel bread and half head of cauliflower (raw for a couple weeks- then I started to steam it cause it took forever to eat at work!)
    snack: orange or apple
lunch: 1/4 cup quinoa w/ spinach

I'm pretty sure that was close to my original meal plan.. I changed it more than I wanted to because you do get sick of eating the same thing every day. I gave up the spinach after awhile and just had cauliflower and ezekiel bread. I got weak after awhile of eating just cauliflower so I decided to eat zucchini and fish for my meals.
This is so difficult to do without any type of meat.
Before this diet, it seemed so difficult to add meat to anything I ever ate. I hated thinking about cooking meat or dealing with it. I tried to fight it for as long as I could because I really wanted to go back to being a vegetarian and my ultimate goal is to be a raw vegan but its hard enough to take away the foods you loved before and deprive yourself of so much.. I had to add something in there. I went to the extreme of how much I cut out. Next round I'll know better. Once I am completely done with doing HCG and losing any weight I will transition into being a raw vegan.

sandradavis...I have been vegan for several months. I am trying to figure out how to make it work with this protocol, since we are supposed to avoid starches and eat a lot of meat. I am experimenting as I go to find what works for me. I know I will not be totally raw though. I think there are some benefits to eating some cooked, and some raw, foods. Just a personal opinion, and no disrespect meant to those who are 100% raw.

I came into this thread, hoping to learn from those who have gone before me with success.

I did stop gaining once I went vegan, but now I still need to lose the old weight, which does not seem to be in a hurry to leave. lol

Being menopausal is probably not helping, but I have decided to be a big girl and stop blaming that for failure. I WILL overcome this somehow!

goforit...Thanks for your input. I am so pumped to get this thing going. If I make it through Thanksgiving, it should be much smoother sailing after that.

I will keep checking back here to see what's working for everyone.

I hope I helped a little.. I know it was frustrating when I couldn't get any detailed answers but I have learned that unfortunately I had to figure it out on my own. Everyone reacts so differently to what they put in their bodies. Even P3 confuses me which I start in 3 days but I'll just find as much info as I can and have to test things out.. just nervous because I don't have drops to fall back on when I try and experiment with foods.

    Best of luck!

You are right. I have decided to just go into this with an open mind, and do the best I can. When something doesn't work, I won't do it again. lol. On to another food choice that makes some sort of sense with the way hcg works, and see what happens. Plus, I will depend on the foods mentioned in the veg threads as a starting point.

Good luck with P3. You will likely do great. I see you have lost a lot of weight, but possibly plan to do more rounds after this one, so I am sure I will see you around. I would like to lose about 60-65 pounds, so I will be here awhile. No way I am doing all of that in one round.
    Tough girls tough it out.
