    Vegan R3P2: Spring 2015

I've chimed in on a couple of existing threads in this section, plus I created a thread to document my P3 experience. This time I decided to start my own thread for my rounds of P2 because I'm trying cycling.

Here's a little backstory, in case you don't read my other posts: tried HCG back in late 2010 (as a vegetarian) for one round on hhcg. Had great results on program and maintained for more than a year. In 2012, I was fighting an illegal eviction (I won), had to put my beloved doggie down , and I moved for Grad School. The weight started creeping on. I had gained back what I lost in 2010 by January 2013. From Jan 2013 to Jan 2015 (when I started using rx HCG) I had gained an additional 24lbs! I was at my highest weight EVER!! I was not a happy camper. I remembered the success I had on HCG so I did some research and decided to try RX this time. I attempted to do a long round -- starting MLK weekend -- but ran out of HCG before the 43 days so I finished at 35 days.

I got really squirrelly around 4 weeks in and decided that I didn't want to do long rounds ever again! I lost a total of 22lbs (including my 2.2 below LIW that I maintained during P3 -- I never went above my LIW).

While I was doing my P2 in Jan/Feb I looked into cycling thread and decided I wanted to give it a try. Here's my approach. I'm not doing a set time on and off, per se, for the cycling. I'm basing it off my TOM cycle. But that being said, it is working out to be about 21days on and 28 days off. I had a total of ~50lbs that I wanted to lose when I started in January, so my "hope" is to do 2 cycling rounds, but of course it all depends on the scale. I "stocked up" on rx HCG, which means I bought enough for 3 rounds of cycling (not counting my P2 in Jan/Feb 2015). For my last round, whichever it will be (2 or 3 cycles), I will do the 23 day minimum on HCG.

I plan to wrap up this round on Friday, April 3 (LIW), followed by two VLCD days, then on to P3 for two TOM cycles (I'll be starting my TOM around April 1-3).

I decided to do ONE load day when I started back on P2 for this cycle round. I had been sick for the last week of P3 and kinda struggle to get enough food in so I wanted to make sure that I had plenty of good fats in my system before switching to the VLCD.

So here are my details for this round of P2, which started March 14th:
    Height: 5'10"
    P2D1: 178.6 (LOAD)
    P2D2: 180.0 (+1.4)(first day of VLCD)
    P2D3: 177.0 (-3)
    P2D4: 178.0 (+1)
    P2D5: 175.6 (-2.4)
    P2D6: 174.0 (-1.6)
    P2D7: 174.0 (0)
    P2D8: 172.6 (-1.4)

    Total Loss to Date: -6lbs

Hi, Mia - I would like to see your menus .....while I am not vegan by any means, but if you have a diary of any kind hopefully it might help me plan cycling meals. I'm very interested in cycling, but also very unsure.
    Thanks much!

I'm back doing R4P2 after a successful P3/P4 blend. I maintained my weight within 2lbs up and down during the 35 days. My HCG experience is rogue just by the very nature that I'm doing it vegan, and so it was when I went over to P3. I kept very close to P3 "rules" for first 7-10 days and then slowly added some P4 foods. I even had a couple of vegan cupcakes during the month of P3, plus wine and a couple of bloody marys.

When I started P2 again I was .8lbs over LIW -- I did a load day with no injection. The last 7-10 days prior to starting P2 I was .8lbs below LIW. I'm down 4.6lbs (including load weight gain).

Just doing a quick check-in for any current or future vegan folks who want to hear about another vegans experience. I've posted about my food choices in several threads and by no means are they choices that every vegan would make, but they work for me and I'm happy, satisfied and like the results I'm getting since I started back on HCG in January of this year.

    Cheers!

    Hi Mia,
I'm about to start my first ever round of HCG on Friday. I'm vegan, and I read your previous threads that mentioned that you used Sun Warrior protein powders and Boku.
Do you look fit particular macronutrient ratios in the Sun Warrior as far as grams of carbohydrates and protein?
I looked into Boku, and I saw two types. One was protein and one was a super food. Which did you use?
I love the idea of using primarily protein powder, but I want to make sure I'm doing it right.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. There isn't much vegan/HCG info out there.

    Hi kcxtwo,

I think you have me confused with someone else... I don't use Sun Warrior or Boku.
I don't use protein powder as my primary protein source when I'm in P2, but I have used a different brand Jarrow Optimal Plant Protein and their Green Defense micronutrients in previous rounds.
Jarrow's plant protein is complete protein from pea, brown rice, hemp, chlorella & white chia seed. It uses stevia for sweetness. I really like it, but I'm not necessarily promoting it on this forum.
I think everyone has to do their own due diligence and choose what works best for them.

Personally, I would go a little nutty just consuming protein drinks during P2. I need variety in texture and flavor.

I'm having what I consider to be great results on HCG -- maybe not a fast of weight loss as other folks, but I didn't have a huge amount of weight to lose and I've loss right around .5lbs/day for each round. I always seem to stall for a bit after losing big. My body (or maybe it's my scale although it has the capability) doesn't register .2lb weight losses. I typically lose b/w .8-1.8lbs at a time. I'm 13lbs from my goal and switched to cycling on my last round. I've lost 37.2 since MLK weekend and I've enjoyed myself during P3/P4. I'm wrapping up a 16 day round right now -- today was my LIW. And I will pick up again after I graduate next month from grad school. Personally, it feels great to know my vegan choices work while losing on HCG.

I have to say one of the most important habits I've formed since starting in January is to weigh myself every day. I had a little lapse during my last P3 -- skipped a few days -- but thankfully it didn't matter on the scale. But I can really see now that 10lbs doesn't just happen overnight and I feel the only way to maintain my weight (besides making good food choices) is to have clarity on the scale.

I wish you the best of luck on your HCG journey. I've done this whole thing 'rogue' from a protein perspective, but kept to the fruit and vegetable choices when I was on P2. Feel free to PM me if you need any support or encouragement! You can do this!!!

    Hi guys,
This is my third round of HCG, but my first time going completely off protocol. Soooo, I have read maybe one or two stories about a raw vegan approach to HCG. For my life, I have decided that a raw food diet (Raw Fruits and Vegetables, some seeds later after HCG) is best for me. I wanted to do HCG to get the baby weight off, however I did not want to compromise my health journey by ingesting animal products again. (they just don't work for me anymore.) The few sites that I can find that mention a raw vegan approach - the outcome has been wonderful. I too, am having good losses, but I am making it up as I go. I'm living on mangos, bananas, apples, berries, etc...with big hearty salads at night. I am having pretty much all fruit (which means I'm NOT counting carbs), absolutely NO fat ingested (no nuts or seeds) or used on my body in the form of oils or lotions. I am wondering what the science is behind the HCG working on this raw vegan journey of mine, and I thought I would delve into this area due to a couple of stalls I've had. Any thoughts? Am in in jeopardy of wrecking the HCG's ability to access my abnormal fat stores by consuming fruit and not meat? I'd love feedback from anyone that knows how this truly works.

I would think that you need some protein along with your fruits and veggies for this program to be successful. You could use pea protein concentrate. Its non-fat and vegan. I haven't researched it, but somebody probably makes it in a raw form. ah.. here's one:

Or maybe brown rice protein.... there are probably lots of possibilities.

Dr Simeons speaks to the issue of doing HCG for vegetarians, and his emphasis is on getting a form of protein that they can tolerate. That says to me that the protein is important to the success of the protocol.
