Congrats on the great losses on your steak day, Leez -

It occurs to me my 15 hour fast (though without being allowed to drink water for 5 hours in the middle) and breaking my fast with a nice piece of salmon with EVOO and butter; kinda qualifies as a steak day. We'll see if I lose anything.

Mermaid, Alta already has 400", waaah! (About 1 hour away from me) Snowbasin (where I have my season pass) has 236" / 109" base and a couple of feet on the way this weekend. Waaaaah again!

PearlyMae, yes things can get stressful for sure. So always nice for a good result at the end.
Plus worrying about foods, and not be obsessed is in its own tricky.

I am trying something, if I go up I just go back to the foods I know are okay for a few days, drink my water and bone broth. It has happened once since in P4 and I came down.

Leez, glad the steak day worked, but I know what you mean. I hope it's not a roller coaster for you and you keep the loss.

gz9gjg, glad all went well. I bet you were happy for lunch and it sounds good. I know I hate that you have to remember to order the extra. In Canada they won't let anyone order salt. I remember bringing it in for my husband. You would think they could have the alternative salts, but they don't.

Happy Friday, I am glad for the weekend.

Hi Jayk, fortunately they supply salt & pepper, plus extra butter, if I remember to ask. Unfortunately no HWC, but half & half plus a pat or two of butter works. The teensy amount of salt in the butter doesn't bother me.

Didn't mean to write a novel, but...

gz9gjg - I feel you so hard on this one. That level of snow is what daydreams are made of. Makes ya wish for an exoskeleton! I'm so sorry! When I blew out my knee (volleyball) and had to learn to walk again, it made me hyper aware of how great the snow was when I couldn't go play in it. We lived in Washington State at the time, and it was one of those epic years where the "Cascade Concrete" base just held powder on top for weeks on end. I only got to snowshoe the end of it that year at Baker. And my muscles were so atrophied at that point I couldn't even get to any fun viewpoints. Our son was a toddler. He was not the limiting factor. Sigh. I hope you can get out to enjoy the snow in other ways. Dogsled?

I'll ski some for ya. It's such a way of life in Norway, skis and boots are free/gratis hand-me-downs at the schools, family season passes for all the lifts within an hour of Oslo are $750 for the year -- for a whole family of up to 6 people, and that includes free parking, and 50% off rental gear. Neighborhood ski teams with the kids calling each other's parents to see who's home and then running/skiing to go play in the snow together is like a local sandlot baseball team back in the states. Only with way more neon! LOL

We're leaving for a week-long cross country trek through Finse this afternoon. 100-150km (Wind gusts will determine which loop we take). My husband will have the polk, and I'll have a light pack with emergency medical kit and snacks, the kids are going to lead the way. No groomed tracks, no electricity, no running water, just compass and GPS if needed to go to DNT cabins every night. Limited cell reception makes it even better. https://www.dnt.no/english

Our youngest is 7 and finally skilled enough wrt mountain awareness (and basic first aid) that he can actually get into the back country with us to have fun. Other than the ski-play-team and occasional weekend races, we've only been taking him on long XC day trips until this week. Our daughter is 10 and an incredible nordic skier, so she's stoked to "finally not have to turn around and go back home."

I packed the kids their "Chocolate every day? No Way!" goodie bags to get them excited about the trip, like we do when we're backpacking. Mostly healthy stuff like homemade nut bars with a few tiny marshmallows and dark chocolate drizzled over them, oat biscuit/crackers made with dutch cocoa powder... But a few fun things like tiny bottles of nutella and the bite size KWIKLUNSJ bars in bright yellow wrappers.

And when I was at IKEA to pickup alphabet biscuits, they had an adorable moose themed kid food section. For the last night of the week, we booked a night at the Moose Tower https://www.elgtarn.no/home-uk because it's right on our path back to the car. So I couldn't resist.

Their treat for when we get there is:
"build a chocolate moose" kits with 200g of dark chocolate in a flat pack.
moose shaped pasta made with just eggs, Ukrainian flour, sunflower seed oil and salt
    new moose antler socks

They opened them yesterday with all the squeals and planning for how to earn their treats. Our family rule is that for every piece of chocolate consumed, we have to eat two carrot slices and celery stick first. (unless there's an injury on the trail, of course. I keep a brick of waxed chocolate with our tourniquet, haha) But other than that, we let them ration the chocolate for themselves during trips. 20 km per day becomes #kidgoals when they realize mommy put enough in to assume one treat bar per 10K.

Why am I babbling about this?
I have an HCG related reason, I promise.

Putting together our meals for backcountry trips is always one of my favorite things.
Usually, I taste the treats I make as I'm making them.

This time around though, I've been on such a high about the fat I've lost and how strong/mobile I'm feeling again, that I wasn't even tempted. I just enjoyed knowing how much my kids look forward to adventures with us. (And I intentionally took the time to focus on how nice it is that my husband takes the time to notate and plan out routes he sees from the air so we can go do really interesting things together when he's home. As a pilot, he's always been gone a lot and that really sucks. After nearly 20 years together, I'm not above regularly voicing my frustrations about his schedule.)

I feel so much better in my head during this round of HCG, like it's flipped a switch to help balance the hormones that got so disrupted from my myriad of health issues over the past 18 months. It will really feel great when I get to have my "did-your-mom-really-make-those?" high-protein granola nut bars again in about 6 weeks, because I know I'll have earned them!

    Journaling:

    I am at P1/2 D40 today. 38 injections total.

I'm still holding fast at 165.5 +/-.2 for 5 days now. But my waist/legs/arms are still losing girth, so I don't think immunity has set in. Period hasn't started yet, but it might be on my pre-hcg cycle that was off, but following the full moon. I'm bringing the injections with me for the trip to just finish it out until my cycle starts, and to avoid that surprise hunger bomb that happens like 3 days after the last injection. I don't need to bonk on the edge of a drift if we get a wind gust.

But I obvs won't have a scale, so it will be interesting to see where I'm at when we get back on Friday.

Congrats all on successful steak days, promotions, raises, healing, new doctors and getting out of the hospital!
(Pearly, why on earth a doc would mess with a thyroid medication that is working is beyond me. I hope the new one is better and you find balance again. Hormonal imbalance is so debilitating!)

And don't worry, we are leaving our route with friends so they can send a search party if there's a storm mid-week and we don't check in by Thursday night at the moose tower.

    Onward!

OMG, that Moose Tower looks amazing!

I once stayed in a lighthouse on the coast of Florida, you can imagine the views! Have an awesome time, Mermaid -

Loved reading about your adventure, Mermaid. It sounds like it will be a wonderful family time that your kids will always remember. Never having been interested in sports that happen in the cold, I can't relate to that particular exhilaration, but I sure love all the family time memories I have. I think you are brave staying in P2 while knowing you are going to need extra energy those days. I don't think I could do it. I have no endurance in P2.

    P3D14 - LIW +1

Jumped back two of the 3+ pounds loss in the steak day. Hopefully things will settle and inch back down a little after today. Trying to trust the process, but big swings like this make it kind of hairy. I've had too many times when I've had to adjust LIW up to be totally confident. However, this round has seemed different in a lot of ways because of the healing that has happened over the last 5 years, so I'm hopeful that is a factor, and the scale drops back down soon.

Wow, Mermaid. It's like I am from another planet from you. The foods you make/found sound wonderful, but are way off my radar. And my doing things in the snow means shoveling the driveway. LOL. Also,, I don't have kids, don't have a husband, so all I can do is enjoy your fun vicariously! What an adventure!

Gig, I didn't catch that you would need surgery. Ouch. Just what you needed to round out the week. You WILL have inflammation, so don't let it upset you. That will pass and all you can do is keep going so your actual body maintains your protocol and once the inflammation settles down you will be back on track. Protein is needed for healing anyway!

Leez, you can't lose 3 pounds of fat over night and you can't gain 2 pounds of fat overnight. As you know. There is inflammation /water retention going on. Dial everything back to where you were stable and watch it level off. Like I have to tell YOU this. And you know you are right about water. Seems contradictory, but drinking enough water flushes out the inflammation water.

Jayk, glad hubby is home. I know it is stressful sometimes to care for him, but even more stressful when you are not in control of his care. So glad the new job is going well.

    Slim, how are you doing?

Should I be worried about continued losses? Down another .6 today. I am enjoying my food and also my grocery budget. I am concentrating on enough protein and then secondary is fat then berries and then veggies.

I am having my cream cheese/egg pancakes today with Mrs. Butterworth sugar free syrup. Nirvana! Also bullet proof coffee just for the extra energy. It is Saturday so of course we got dumped on with snow and I have to go shovel. Kinda hoping the kid down the block would show up, but no joy so far. It was only 2-3 inches this time instead of 6, so I can handle that. Don't wanna, but I can.

So far, increased work has been a snap. My contact seems to think I am call to help her do pretty much everything, but I am not on contract yet, so am charging by the hour at the new rate, so all good.

Sigh. Time to shovel the driveway. Then pick up groceries.

Shout out to anyone I missed, lurkers and all!

    Onward!

Thanks for this good reminder to all of us about what scale numbers actually mean. My big take-away from your comments: I hadn't even thought about continuing to flush out the inflammation with extra water, but am catching up with that today and keeping menus basic and simple. Maybe that water thing is what I have missed in previous rounds when the scale has erupted similarly.

    P4 Month 2

    Hey all y'all!

I am up .8 overnight and while I am still below my window,-- so definitely not complaining!-- it is still worrisome to go up that much when I didn't eat ANYTHING I shouldn'a. I can't even blame any inflammation from shoveling cuz it was pretty easy and only my right hand got a little stiff. Getting a little arthritis there, I guess. Excess water in two fingers should not weigh .8 pounds!

Hmmm. Can't help but think I coulda had the Lindt truffles my sister gave me for Valentine's day that I hid in the CAR so I would not eat them all in one go. I haven't even had the first one yet! (Late night munchies have to get pretty severe before I go out in the cold garage and stand on my head in the back seat to get to the chocolates!)

I am NOT complaining. I am at the goal weight I have tried for many rounds without getting to. Just conducting a scientific analysis. And grouching a little bit.

Sun is back so that helps EVERYTHING, doesn't it?

    Onward all!

Mermaid, I hope you have a wonderful holiday/adventure. It sounds awesome to do with your family.

I have only skiied a bit, and did a bit of cross country skiing when I was young. I lived at Vernon, BC and we had Silver Star mountain right there.

I am glad your doing good on your round.

Leez, let's hope the water does it's thing. I know I should drink way more. I have my Lemon sips coming again from Dr. KellyAnn website. I love doing that in the morning. I know in spring, summer etc I have no problem drinking enough water. But in Winter I usually have to have electrolytes in it , and drink Tea. I totally forgot about the Good Girl Moonshine. I usually do it on hcg and in summer as well.

PearlyMae, your pancakes and syrup sound good. I may have some scrambled egg and sausage or bacon with a bit of my sugar free syrup. Sorry you got more snow and had to shovel.

Still doing okay, just eating some salads with beef in it.

My husband is doing good, unfortunately the Antibiotics he is on causes diarrhea , and that is not great for someone in a wheelchair. We have made it to the bathroom so far all times. He is on it yet all week, so hope all goes well. I will be so glad when he is done that. I haven't been able to sleep in even just a bit, so looking forward to a bit of rest. I don't like being tired in the day.

    Hello, hello.

Just a quickie; I'm up 1.4! Yesterday .8 and today 1.4? Yikes. It's almost like I have no control over my weight. Uh huh. I did not eat anything wrong at all. (Still no Lindt chocolates!) and not sure I could be reacting to something as nothing new or unusual. Still, I'll dial it back. Track the water and water-type substances (I'm big on Refresh Ice Lemonade flavored sparkling water)I don't mind if I don't go back down, but I definitely do not want to continue UP.

Lots of housework done over the weekend, and that feels good. I have a list for the handyman now. Cleaning shows ya what needs repair!

I ordered a new, upgraded computer from my IT guy --he built my current one and upgraded it a few times but it is 8 yrs old, which is 90 in computer years. Spending my tax refund and some interest on an account and getting a new ergonomic key board and much bigger screens. Woo hoo. I usually type messages here on my laptop in the kitchen, tho. Once I get seated at my desk, I am there for the day, so I avoid it until I have to go there.

I can't think of a single thing I want for breakfast. So I will make myself an egg anyway so I don't find myself swooning by 10 a.m.

    Onward!
