    New to the Forum...and HCG

    Hi All!

My name is Kristin; I'm 34 and a management consultant, based out of NYC. I'm on R2, VLCD2 today, using injections. I found my way here (to HCG and this site) because I've finally reached the end of my rope with my weight.

Fourteen years ago, I experienced a violent sexual assault. I went from a normal weight (~165 lbs. at 5'6"), to more than 270 pounds in roughly 18 months. I ate to hide from men, and to cope with the pain of what I'd been through.

Years later, after much therapy and general life experience, I'm FINALLY ready to get rid of the last emotional baggage -- which I literally carry around with me in the form of excess pounds. I'm scared to find out who I really am without the weight -- it has been a great excuse for not fully engaging in my life for a long, long time. But I'm also incredibly excited. I hope you'll all support me along the way, and that I can return the favor!

So, in terms of my progress thus far:

    VLCD1 (8/27): 280.8 lbs.
    VLCD2 (8/28): 273.9 lbs. (-6.9 lbs.)

I'm feeling okay today, so far. I'm doing well with my water intake, but can tell that giving up coffee (I use too much half-and-half for me to be able to keep it in my diet), is going to be a challenge. I stopped at Starbucks this morning for a Treinta (extra-large) unsweetened black iced tea, and then added a Skinny Stick to it (partially for flavor, partially for energy). They are sugar-free, zero carbs, and provide a decent pick-me-up.

I'm a little hungry (wasn't at all yesterday), but it's manageable. I'm looking forward to some lean protein at lunch.

As a consultant, I travel 40+ weeks a year for work. I eat on the go frequently, and stay in hotels constantly. Does anyone have any good suggestions for take-out, or hotel-friendly meals? I am committed to staying on plan, but need to be realistic given my schedule.

Excited for any feedback you all might have, and looking forward to getting to know some of you better!!

    Kristin

Hi Kristin! Welcome! How great that you've reached a point in your life where you're ready to drop all the rest of the baggage. It's brave, and you should be proud of yourself!!

How's the diet going so far? Your post is a couple of weeks old, so wondering how your journey is going? Well, I hope!

I travel a lot too, and on my past couple of rounds, have tried to schedule around P2. I've found that P3 is easier while traveling, but P2 is just not for me. Most of these suggestions for food while traveling are not on the original protocol, so you may not want to try them. I've done several rounds, and went from rogue-ish to full on 2.0 protocol this round.

    Ideas for on the go:

Chick-Fil-A Grilled Nuggets (drink extra water -- I think they're salty, but just my opinion)
Sashimi (I even do okay with the fattier fish like salmon and ahi, but you can stick to just white fish too)
Protein shakes (these are a life saver for me -- Joy Robb has been a good brand for me and others on the forum. Using Isopure unflavored now. Love it! Put the powder in the shaker bottle, and add water or whatever drink you want later)
Egg White Omelettes w/ veggies (these are easy to order from room service in most hotels. Ask for it to be cooked without oil. They usually do a decent job.)
Target and grocery stores sell cleaned, pre-cut veggies like celery. Keep in your hotel room refrigerator.
Applegate Farms lunch meat (also for the hotel refrigerator). The Organic Turkey and Chicken varieties have little to no additives.
Pre-cooked white meat chicken from the grocery store (in the deli area in large, flat "boxes". There are several brands with no additives)

    Hope all is going well!

Don''t forget about the Fresh Express or Dole Bagged Salads. As long as you only buy those with various lettuce mixes ( not containing carrots), they are great. I also add either one of the following to them - cucumber, tomatoes, or radish, and it works so well for travel.
