Thread: July Loaders - Round 2 - Eyes on the Prize!!

Well, Hunny, I still like my suggestion to just decorate a cardboard box, if you're not going to eat the cake. But it sounds like you are using admirable self-control. Yeah, you!!

Shelia: wow, 60 days tomorrow, that's incredible! How do you feel? Do you feel the extension was worth it?

AFM: down .8 this morning. that puts me back to 1.6 above LIW. I looked back at my weight log and I first weighed 133.6 (which was my weight this a.m.) on August 4th, so for 6 weeks I've been with 2.4 of my LIW. That's pretty stable, I'd say. Yes, I would've liked to go lower, and do still plan to work to get into the 120's, but I think I can lay off on the worrying a bit. So, since I'm down this morning, would you think I'm okay for xylitol and blueberries? Or should I eat them again today and see what happens tomorrow? I had 3 peices of bacon and 2 scrambled eggs for breakfast today. It was pretty yummy. I baked the bacon. It doesn't make such a mess that way, and we like it. I'm going thrift store shopping today. My hubby and I host a Halloween party for our car club each year, out in our old barn. We make a stage and people put on skits, etc. So hubby, having no concept of money, wants real curtains on a center pull rod for the stage this year. I, being cheap, don't want to spend the money for it, so I'm off to see what I can find at the thrift stores. Might have to check out the clothes too. It is so odd that I am scared to buy fall clothes that fit me. I am so afraid that I'll gain weight back. I personally don't believe that HCG resets anything, I think it teaches you to pay attention to what you put in your mouth, and teaches you portion control, and teaches you which foods trigger gains, but I don't think anything is 'reset'. Just my opinion. The way I look at it is this: I get to start over now. I am almost at the weight I want to be at and now I can choose to stay here (if I can) or eat like a fool and be right back to 'obese'. With other diets, I could never get to where I wanted to be, so I would give up. That's what I think hcg does. It gets you there fast so you don't give up, then you can try to stay there. Anyway, rambling again, sorry. See you later!
AMII could not agree more with you about this "reset" business. There is heartbreakingly abundant evidence on these forums that folks do not re-set. We just get a second chance to eat better and keep our new bodies. Re-setting the hypothalmus was all hooey! If that were the case the guy would have died with much more respect and recognition, I daresay... And I would be able to eat outside protocol without the fear of gaining 8 pounds like I have seen happen to others. That just defies everything I have ever learned about diet and nutriton. I am happy, however when I hear that in a day or so, most of that weight comes off. It is maddening though, to see such violent fluctuations. Makes me toy with the idea of going back on another round if I have to.... But my honey really would not like it at all...

just FYI...Melon allergies are typically related to Ragweed allergies. They are in the same family and if you are allergic to Ragweed, there is a high probability of having a reaction to melons, avacado, bananas. Not necessarily all of these, but at least one. I'm extremely allergic to Ragweed...and (sadly) have a reaction to all the above. Sucks for me because I love melons, cantaloupe, bananas, and avacado...but they seriously do not like me. The only time I've been able to eat them with no issues was when I was pregnant. Believe me, I indulged
I dint know that. I have Ragweed allergies but have no food allergies except raspberries. no my daughter, has developed more and more allergies to fruits each year. Sometimes watermelon and bananas too. Hmmmmm....

Are we going to be seeing you on Cupcake Wars or something??? I'll be looking for the FABULOUS looking baker in the knitted dress!!! btw I haven't done but about three cooking classes and at the end of every class, we ate what we had made. That's what I was picturing & all of its difficulties and challenges on me that that would be. We do have a poster that I have seen around...little bitty thing, now, named Debbie. She is in the bakery business and has Albertson's as one of her grocers she works with and she is in stores working with the bakers every work day so you are right you can apparently work with it without diving into it.

AFM: 2 more VLCDs after today so day after tomorrow, I will be doing my measurements to see what my R2P2 totals are in weight/inches loss. I was hoping to wrap up with only the last 10 pounds to lose in R3 and that won't be the case but hey, I feel good & look soooo much better. I am truly blessed.

Blessings & Healthy Success for each of you, shelia

Well down 1 more lb today, only 3 more to go. I know slow and steady.

Foxfyre-Not sure about the ragweed. But now you mention it, when I eat bananas I get the same reaction as I do melons. Cant say I eat enough avacados to say for sure, since well I just don't eat them. Thanks for the mention though.

Hunny-You definetly have more self control than I would baking. I would eat the whole cake and batter. Step away from the fridge, or else just go get that cupcake and smoosh it in your hand. Actually that sounds fun and messy. But don't lick all the fingers, maybe just one.

Ami-The babysitting is going well, actually this particular baby is so good, well except after shots. But yeah stress doesn't help. And I have been told my weight is too low, but try telling my brain that. I think it is harder for me because my highest weight was 265 and needless to say I have excess skin that won't go away without surgery. So when I look at myself I still feel and look overweight, and can't seem to get past that.

I have to agree with the whole hypothalamus thingy too, I think it is just a matter of what food works and what doesn't. And portion control and self control.

You are all doing so great, and from reading what you all say, you have learned what your body is telling you. And you are all great listeners and friends.
4 short rounds done and at goal weight. LIW 127.4, Adjusted LIW 132.4, 5'9" BMI 19.3. Total weight loss 40 lbs in 4 short rounds, 48 inches lost.

Shelia: 46 pounds! Wow, did I say Wow!!!! You have done so well and showed such self-control. Just two more days and you'll be like the rest of us (ooops, not Hunny, I think she's P2) trying to figure out what in the heck to eat!!!!

Cleo: Yes, I'm afraid that the hype was hooey!! Too bad, I was all excited about being reset. I guess my second chance will have to do! Yes, I think once you are at normal weight you shouldn't do another round, so my vote is with your honey, sorry!!! I've wondered and wondered, so I'll just ask. Which are you in the pic? I always picture you as the blonde. Anyway, you don't seem to have had alot of fluctuation in your weight, correct me if I'm wrong.

Fox: I didn't know that about ragweed either. When I was tested for allergies, oh maybe 20 years ago, they said I had no food allergies, but was allergic to most trees, weeds, grasses, dirt, dust, mold, etc..... So as long as I eat and don't breathe I'm ok!! haha

Hunny: step away from the cupcakes!!!! You know you won't be happy if you cave. Well, you'll be happy for the 23 seconds it takes to eat the cupcake, then it's all downhill!!!

Offroad: holy crap, batman!!! I just noticed that you are 5'9" and 130 pounds. You are really thin!!! My Mom was 5'7" and always thin, not on purpose that's just how she was. I bet that is your problem on holding on to the lower weight, though. It's impressive that you are able to get back there, only 3 to go!! Yeah, you!!!! I understand the loose skin and self-image thing. That can really mess with our heads, can't it? How did you lose so much weight, before hcg, if I may ask? That's like, what?, 135 pounds. Congratulations!!!

AFM: I tried adding back in the natural peanut butter today, so will see what surprises Father Scales has for me in the morning. I really feel fat, still. What is up with that? Maybe some of that self-image distortion?????

On a high note, let me tell you about my thrift store experience. While unable to find drapes, I found a dress to wear to my friend's daughter's wedding next weekend. It is so lovely, and my new bamboo jewelry will go great with it. I also found a pair of brand new heels to wear with it. Dress and shoes = $10. Feeling like a million for getting such a bargain = priceless. But let me tell you about my reallllllly nice find - a red suede jacket for $7.50. It's gorgeous!!!! Very dressy and in perfect condition. Ya'll may think I'm nuts for my thrift store shopping, but I enjoy it!!! And.... I ran into a guy I used to work with and hadn't seen in 15 years, I was soooo glad I had lost weight. Not that he is anyone important in my life, but just knowing that I stood there looking like I used to look and not like PorkyPig, well, it was a good feeling.

Sorry I've been so chatty lately. Don't know what's up with that either! I guess I'm just full of hooey! Love that word, Cleo!!!

First, I always pic Cleo as the dark haired one.

I did step away from the cupcake ....and slid right over to the cake. I had a smmmmalllll sliver. It was SO. FRIGGIN. GOOD. OOOOHMMMMGEEEE. Dont make no sense. I sliced it up and gave it away and got rave reviews. People are looking forward to being my guinea pigs every week.

I just saw a thrift store 2 blocks away that just opened up. I will be there tomorrow.

I agree with ami. I think you are too thin. I am an inch shorter than you and weigh waaaaay more but I would never think to be130 unless I was trying to be a supermodel. *wink wink*. For the height of 5'8 the weight chart says btwn 147-168. And I dont even want to go THAT low. I think you need to be a little heavier. Maybe 135-140. BUT THATS JUST ME!!

But I totally understand about still seeing yourself as fat. My highest was at the start of this diet at 245 ( I cant believe I was that big, that was bigger than me at 9 mos preg!) and now at 204, I still see myself as 245. I think I always will. If it werent for the clothes falling off me, I wouldnt believe it. Or people telling me they've notice. My neighbor tonite almost walked right by me when I said hello because he said he didnt recognize me!!

All this to say, YOU have to feel good about the amazing job you've done and how much you've lost. However, you should do some open-minded research to see how much you should weigh, just a range to give you something to think about. I think at the point you are at right now, it shouldnt be about the actual scale number but how you feel and how you look in your clothes. Right? We dont want a big wind to come and blow you away!!

Hello ladies! Sorry I dropped off the planet! Life has really gotten busy. I just started round three! So glad to see so many familiar faces that are still working at this diet! It has changed my life!

Hey gang. I don't know if I should extend the mystery and have others vote or reveal the truth yet about which I am in the picture... Most people think I am the blonde! That beautiful blonde beside me is 6 foot tall and on her own P2 journey to svelte. I am the short little sicilian girl, who seems to have settled in at 121 pounds and I will take it. My lowest weight was 115 when I was 15 and that took a summer of anorexia to get to!! Because of my rounded features and body structure I have never ever looked gaunt as one might think when hearing my stats. I look healthy. I have remained very true to P2 and have not deviated, so I shudder to think what might happen at Thanksgiving or if I ever ate a bad carb again. Hence I have stayed away from them and confess no desire for any... what with cocoa crack available. My worst stray into carbville is two rather than one slice of tapioca bread per day, but mostly eat eggs, cheese and P2 fruits, proteins and veggies to ensure I do not gain. I have a much younger (35 yo) friend who has been off hcg for months and she is down to 135 lbs from LIW at 149 by reportedly eating regularly and "not trying" to lose.

To OffRoad Hang in there. You are certainly an inspiration as you work to figure things out for yourself. I like that you are doing it naturally by increasing protein rather than doing the steak day. The steak day for me would just mess up my metabolism I fear.

Love and blessings to all who visit!! Hey, where has Mrsm been?

HunnyB You have answered correctly, how did you know? I agree with what you said about clothes feeling better and baggy and people noticing. And most of all the gift we have given to our bodies by eating healthy and avoiding poisons. After all, the white stuff in oreos and in twinkies began as LARD. Yuck!!

I KNEW IT!! *does shake yo booty dance for being right*

How did I know? I dont know. You have that NY look. Your partner does too, but not as much as you. I agree with looking good and feeling good. For me I am obsessed with the number until I get under 200lbs. Then once under, I will focus on the "just feeling and looking good". KWIM? I think the same weight can look way diff on diff people. Height and bone structure has alot to do with it and how its distributed on your body.

AFM, after falling off the wagon..sort of...and eating a little cake, I've dropped 1.5# today. WOO-freakin-hoo!!! I am down 42lbs as of today. Unbelievable. HCG is a magic diet for me. I've got to make another cake for tomorrow. So more prayers are needed. I think I am making a black walnut cake with the coconut pecan filling with pecan bavarian creme frosting. OOOOh lala!!! And only a sliver for tasting. *cubscout honor*
