Hi Vonda, this is vlcd5 for me on my second round of hcg. First round was march/April 2013. So far down 6.6lbs but 2 of that was load weight. Taking it day by day and enjoying reading about everyones journey! Already looking forward to phase 3! Marybeth

    Hi everyone,

I made it through the day and I am know home and in bed for the evening. I think my cold is a little better. I really what to be 100% for loading day which I can't wait for. This week has been awful but worth it. I dropped over 6 pounds to get below to LIW.

I notice that a lot of you only gain 3-4 pounds when you load, how is that? I almost aways gain 8. What are you loading with, how many calories? Thanks for any insight.

MissRed I have the first model fitbit. It is about 3.5 years old and I don't believe they even make it anymore. All function work great but it is not as convenient as Tamara's flex. Wishing you well with all your medical appointments.

Tamara I am right behind you, VLCD starts Monday. Good luck and how is it that you only gained 2.4 pounds loading. I must be doing something wrong. Congrats.

HaiHaiWa You have inspired me to step up my steps. I am taking on 1200 a day. I have my fingers crossed that your HCG arrives very soon.

Tracy I also lost a post yesterday and it was one of my longest one, I hate that. As far as exercising, it takes everything I have to get motivated while I am on HCG because the weight is falling off and I have it that that is a sign from GOD not to move my big butt. Also The weather is so gloomy here and i have no desire to be in the elements. Yes, I know these are all lame excuses.

CPow I'm so glad your surgery went well. FYI, you do not want to lose a lot of weight while you are going through radiation treatments. It would change the contour of your breast and they would have to create a new treatment plan. Radiation usually last 5 to 6 weeks for your cell type. Enjoy your vacation!!!!

Matthew Hang in there, I can see the light at the end of your tunnel.

FlirtyFlow I use My Fitness Pal to record all my food intake. I basically rotate 6 meals that I know work for me. I have all my meat portioned out to 100grams in the freezer ready to go. I also keep plenty of spinach, lettuce and asparagus around for my veggies. It gets boring at times but it is simple and easy. I try not to focus on food during P2 just nutrition.

Side note: I started my 3 round on Thanksgiving and two weeks into it I decided to come off because I was missing out on all the holiday fun. I thought those two weeks would be a wash and that I would gain back the 8 pounds (after loading weight) that I had lost. The good news is that I stayed P3 for most of the holidays with three exceptions and have been able to keep that weight off. That being said, between New Year's Eve and my friends 50th birthday, which lasted 3 days, I gained 5.4 pounds. It took me a week of very clean eating and low calorie, 1200 a day, to get that off. I do not regret my decision. I had an amazing month of fun and food and when I was bad, I was very bad and when I was good, I was extremely good. For me, weighing every day has kept me honest. I use to live in denial, not weighing myself, eating what I wanted and thinking that somehow magically the weight would come off. I am so grateful for this group and that you have made me accountable for my actions. THANK YOU!

Hi Marybeth! Welcome and yep, we all know how you cant wait for P3 haha. Sounds like you are off to a great start!!!

WOw tnx for sharing flirty - I had reduction surgery 10 years ago and my breasts are a mess since I lost anther 50 lbs since I had them done. I can REALLY appreciate that you want to be at goal when you go under the knife the last time. I had heard that reconstruction required a lot of surgeries. Right now I am dealing with getting my lady parts yanked voluntarily since I have the BRCA2 gene. I am not ready for the mastectomy too. I cant remember if angelina jolie had her lady parts removed as well as the mastectomies. I want to get more fat off my abdomen before I go under the knife so I can minimize the hernia prospects from the incisions, but I'll just do a million pilates classes
Hoping you stick around a while and report in on your final surgery. I am soo interested in whatever you have to share. Maybe a little OT but hey this group talks about everything. Like a fondness for board games and inability to poo for long periods while in P2 ( my record is 14 days).
BTW I use My Fitness Pal as well, you can get the link from Vonda's sig.

Vonda I only gained 3 lbs each time I loaded and I stuffed myself. Then when I crashed and burned this last round I gained liked 5 lbs in one day eating not much. Bodies are weird. It convinced me to go get hormones tested, which you already had. The good news is, your body is super cooperative and seems to pretty much go along with whatever plan you are doing du jour ... like you said, you can be very bad and then very good and you correct. Enjoy that while you are young- if its not my hormones it is being older that has been my issue. Mine and Cpow's.

This was a red letter day! My doctor called me to let me know that the margins were clean from my last surgery! She said, “You are cancer-free!” Whaaa-hooo! I will need to have radiation at the end of February, but for now, it is over. I have been incredibly blessed to have many, many friends & family praying for me – and so thankful to my God who has listened to them. Praise the Lord!

I’m feeling great, all things considered. Very little pain – so little that Ibuprofen is enough to handle it.

As for the blasted diet? Who knows! I was up 2#’s today for no reason, but I weighed later in the day than normal, so maybe that was it. I’d love to get under LDW, but geeze. At the moment it doesn’t seem important!

Vonda: Yay! My dream! Below LIW!!! Enjoy your loading! Oh man, you mean I can’t do another round until after the radiation. That’s going to take me clear into April!! UGH!!!
Wow! It sounds like you have really been through it with the cancer, surgeries and treatments! I hope you can reach your goal so that your next procedure can be successfully performed. Goodness, this has been going on for your for 10 years!
Taylor: Yay! It’s working! Gotta love that first week of VLCD!
Marybeth: Welcome! Sounds like a good start for your P2. Hang in there… P2 will be over before you know it!

    P2'ers... do your thing!!
    Blessings!

    Miss Red....
    1) Rather be safe that sorry...I cannot explain to you the impact forced surgery has on your life. When I was first Diagnosed I (like many other women) felt...take it out, take it out!!.... and the day after the surgery I questioned myself, doubting myself in that I possibly acted in too much of a rush.... but when it came back 10 months later, I had my answer....and can only imagine my own mind if I had only done a lumpectomy at that time.... Going through the journey is not something I will wish on my greatest enemy...yet it is theee most life changing blessing and experience of my life...yes I know it does not male sense... but what I am trying to say is do not put off today what could result in your life..... Boobs maketh the woman not! with todays technology you can do a mastectomy and a reconstruction at the same time
    2) no I don't thin Angie did do a Hysterectomy, but I may be wrong.... yet again, proving that the bits is not what makes us women...
    3) I will stick around for a bit till at lest reaching goal weight, some days are hectic but I'll be around...and I am an open book, I truly believe if anyone is offended then they need to get their heads out the sand...this is real life.... boobs, poops, the works..... I believe that If I can change one persons life with just who I am then it is worth the while...but God forbid I cannot Poo for 14 days!! I will stick my bare hand up there and shovel it out if I must!! ;-) I went through extreme constipation during chemo and the thought of it repeating (and that was not 14 days!!) sends quivers down my spine!!! OUCH!!

Vonda and miss red.....Re the Fitness pal.... no idea what it is but it sounds like you guys have it down to an art form...I am deskbound so it is easy for me to record on a spread sheet for now....

If I can pick your brains.... can anyone point me in the direction of the CORRECT veggie list please...some add Broccoli and Cauliflower and all sort... so I am not sure which one is built on the correct list

I am a bit peeved this morning as the scale did not budge!! ... so I immediately did the Tablespoon of Apple cider Vinegar in water bit...fingers crossed for tomorrow. Been having very bad toothache and put some clove oil on my tooth.... onlt possible error on my part and loads of pain killers....appointment only for Thursday but going to try and get in sooner....

Go well and go strong..... ***

Hi Vonda - I too have all my protein portions measured out in the freezer and every morning I take out two little packs for the day to defrost, however I hate any routine or predictability, so I like deciding on the spot, but having had the problem the last two days with not getting to 500calories, I need to do a rough calculation every morning to make sure I reach 500 but being my first time and only day 4 on Phase 2 it will eventually fall in place.... Quantity and variety is Ok for me for now and my big problem is that I tend to forget to eat and I now realise how little I did eat on some days.....I am Ok with the size of protein as well as the veggie options, what gets me is the SINGLE veg per meal..... but that too will eventually sink in

    picking everyone's brains now.....
    1) please share with me how you have your 500calorie day structured with examples of each meal please.....
    2) also I use my George Forman grill (if not steamed)for my proteins and usually everything is OK, however my Fish tends to stick.... no spray and cook allowed?...
    3) Any tricks or ideas from the old hands?
    4) do you do the fibre automatically or only when you need it and what fiber do you do?
    5) do you do the Apple cider vinegar as a daily or only when you stop losing weight?
    6) If I have decided that I am doing say 5 drops 4 times a day..... and then for example, I miss mid afternoon snack - Must I eat after the drops, OR Am I only allowed to eat If I have taken drops...ie...If I choose to do drops three times a day - do I then have to stick to three meal? the programme does not really allow for that...
    7) in other words, is it better to stick to the Times say 8 am 1 pm and 8 pm.... and eat your meals whenever? At the moment I do a mid morning snack ((9am) Lunch 12-1pm, mid afternoon snack at 3-4pm and dinner at 6-7 pm.... and I do drops 15 minutes beforehand...... what do you guys do?

not really , if you get to a surgeon who knows what he is doing its OK.... in my case the surgeon I chose had no idea that a reconstruction after radiation is completely different to a reconstruction without..... so in this case he [email protected]#$%ed up! big time....and that is why the stem cell treatment was required. My friend diagnosed a few years after me had her Mastectomy and reconstruction all in one.....

Fear not I think I will be joining you for my round one then, I am still not sure if I am going to do this as a short 21 day session or a 40 day session....then the break and hopefully session 3 as soon as I can after...... but even if we are not on the drops we may struggle more being on maintenance with out the security blanket of the drops..... If I read between the lines....Cancer? was it breast cancer? welcome to the club..... ! If you are going through radiation be careful not to me on the VLCD period at that point. Going for six weeks solid... even though they only radiate a small area, your healthy blood cells do not freeze for those few minutes, so every single day a few hundred of your normal healthy blood cells are also zapped.... so you get very tired and lethargic and I do not think it will be a good idea to limit your food/nutrient intake at that point... just keep that in mind when planning your programmes.... ***

Hey wait! Were you spying on me?

I am not the best person to ask all your other questions to but I'll share some general stuff. I did some miracle noodles at the end of round 1 to help with my constipation and they really did! I had tried smooth move tea, magnesium citrate, stool softeners, senna laxatives, some of that liquid from a bowel prep kit, etc etc and nothing worked.
I dont work so I just kind of ate when I wanted, and am kinda like Vonda in that I only had a few veggies that didnt make me gain, and the only fruit I had was strawberries.
I bought a new non-stick pan and was able to fry up tilapia no problem. I also used a squirt of PAM on occasion and had no problem , but I think Cpow did.
I give you the whole list of P2 foods in another post.

    P2 Foods, from P&I

Direct from the horse's mouth. I did not remember beef being on the list?!?

    P2 Lunch/dinner options:
    1. 100 grams of veal, beef, chicken breast, fresh white fish, lobster, crab, or shrimp. All visible fat must be carefully removed before cooking, and the meat must be weighed raw. 3. One breadstick (grissino) or one Melba toast.

    4. An apple, orange, or a handful of strawberries or one-half grapefruit.

Hi Everyone, very excited to share that I released 3 pounds and am now down 2.4 pounds of pre load weight, after VLCD2. I am super excited as I did not do as well as quickly last time. Last time though I was confused and did not take drops while loading and forgot to weigh myself. LOL

I am so happy to hear CPAW about your results. From the bottom of my heart, god bless you, and congratulations!!

    Flo, great topic question.

Here is what I ate yesterday:
7:30am 1T apple cider vinegar in water
    10:30am apple
12:30pm extra lean ground beef stir fried with sliced cabbage and half pkg shirataki noodles
afternoon herbal tea and green tea
6:00pm chicken breast, with green beans a big dill pickle and 1tsp coconut oil
8:00pm 1c raspberries frozen and blended in my Vitamix with stevia to make a sorbet and a decaf coffee
9:00 pm 1 ryveeta (like melba)

I wasn't on strict protocol but drank a lot of water. I also was retaining due to TOM, which feels better today.

I am going to try ACV everyday to see if that helps speed up my losses, I didn't do that last round.

Happy losing today everyone! I just did 30 mins on the treadmill, but I was walking before I started the protocol so I am keeping with it.

    1. 100 grams of veal, (We dont really get veal easily in SA...)beef, chicken breast, fresh white fish, lobster, crab, or shrimp. Can Crab or shrimp be out a tin in brine? All visible fat must be carefully removed before cooking, and the meat must be weighed raw. easy enough for me, fat makes me sick It must be boiled or grilled without additional fat. ( I steam or grill ) Salmon, eel, tuna, herring, dried or pickled fish are not allowed. The chicken breast must be removed from the bird.Drat NOW you tell me!!

    2. One type of vegetable only to be chosen from the following: spinach, chard, chicory, beet-greens,ewwww green salad, what exactly is meant by this? Lettuce? tomatoes, celery, fennel, onions, red radishes, cucumbers, asparagus, cabbage.,, now some lists gives Broccili and some also Cauliflower?.... my two favourite veg and very good from a cancer point of view

    3. One breadstick (grissino) or one Melba toast. Now here it is again... some lists says - you eat the same 4 things for each meal which means TWO grissini /melba toasts?

    4. An apple, orange, or a handful of strawberries or one-half grapefruit. that's easy enough
Now having said all that.... why teh hell can I not get to 500 calories... even having two grisinis??

anyone else wants to give some tips to teh newbie.....?
