For the past 4 or 5 nights, yes. I wake up with the sweats. I'm only 37.

Well, I finally think I'm on track. My VLCDs didn't start on time - should have started Nov. 1 - started Monday instead. I took my hCG over those extra days and tried to just hang in there. I know there are a lot of people and some research that says you shouldn't start a diet on Monday, but sometimes I NEED the predictable regularity of a workday to sorta get into the groove of it.

I'm pretty rogue with protocol so I won't go into details about food and such. I will say that my saving grace is BP (Bullet Proof) coffee. If you are using coco oil and having losses with it, (and you like coffee) you should try BP Coffee. It's basically 1-2 tbsps of fat in coffee. It takes the place of your creamer. The original BP Coffee called for grass fed butter (non-salted) and MCTs. I tried originally with grass-fed butter and coco oil, because I'm not sold on MCTs yet. That said, when I ran out of GFButter, I just started using coco oil. Oh, and don't just put it in your coffee - put it in a small mason jar, pop your blender bottom on it and give it some whirls on the blender. You don't want a pool of fat sitting on top of your coffee. The blender blades mix that stuff right in, you'll never know it wasn't creamer.

If I have a BP coffee (my Manly Man calls it Butter Bomb Coffee) I can make it to late afternoon before I get hungry - sometimes dinner.

Aside from that the fats slow the absorption of caffeine, so instead of getting a caffeine high, with the shakes, and then a crash, you get pin point focus (for hours it seems), no shakes, no crash. =)

Also, on the subject of coffee, another trick I have found is adding a pinch or two of aluminum-free baking powder to the grounds. This will alkalize the coffee. It will make it less astringent on your taste buds, (for me, this means I taste the coffee's flavour instead of the bitterness) and better for your body. Don't use too much, though or it will taste salty.

Anyway, down 1.2 today. Had major water whoosh yesterday - not sure why, as I don't recall drinking any water at all. Either way I will take it.
    Good luck out there, everyone.

My problem is, of the allowed vegis, I really only like tomatoes, cabbage, celery, radishes, lettuce & cucumbers. So I'm really needing to find some type of dressing that is allowed, because I'm tired of eating these things plain or with spices. I'm really tired of chicken & steak too. I don't like seafood either, so I'm pretty limited. I'm going to try a piece of cod tonight, I hope I am able to enjoy it.

I also have a hard time eating 500 calories a day when I'm not hungry. But I read on Dr. Simeon's report that anything can be omitted, but I don't want to mess up my stabilization, so I'm making myself eat!

Well I really wanted to say good luck to everyone that just started the diet, like myself, and nice to meet and read about you all!

I have every intention of doing this diet to protocol, but I'd like to find some P2 recipes, if anyone knows where to look.

This forum is SO confusing to me, I can never find my way back to where I was, so if it takes me awhile to respond, please bear with me.
I am loving the salad I made. I'm following the protocol my doctor gave me and mixing vegetables so I make a spinach salad (since you can have all you want) and I add 1/3 c. diced tomatoes, 1/3 c. sliced cucumbers and 1/3 c slivered onion. I use a flavored vinegar from Olive Creations called White Lemon Vinegar - nothing but vinegar and lemon - and then sprinkle it with seasoning salt. It is really, really good. I've made a batch of chicken breasts (fried using water or lemon) using the melba toast as breading and I slice it up and put a pinch of salt and pepper. I haven't read the book so I don't know how close this is to the actual protocol but I've been losing about 1.2 lbs. a day so far.

I have a freezer full of beef from my brother in laws completely grass-fed, no antibiotics, etc. hand-raised cow, but I haven't had time to thaw it out and come up with anything for that yet. I'll let you know when I do. I found a recipe for chicken tacos using lettuce instead of taco shells that I'm going to try this weekend. I'll let you know how it comes out.

My only struggle is breakfast. I'm used to having my bowl of oatmeal first thing in the morning - or a bowl of grapenuts, etc. So, it's hard to get through to snack time. I suppose my body will get used to it's new routine before long and it'll be easier. I actually had to force myself to eat dinner last night because I wasn't hungry at all.

I was planning to have maybe 3oz of turkey breast and touch of gravy and salad... no not to crazy but I know turkey is not an approved protein and wanted to see what other people’s experiences are...
I went to a birthday party over the weekend - while everyone else ate Mexican food and cake and ice cream I ate my apple slices and drank water. I didn't worry about what anyone else was doing. I have a goal if I think about cheating I remember what the scale said that morning and and know that if I stay the course I can be 1 lb. closer tomorrow. I have an hcg app on my phone that I can log into and see my progress at any time, too. That really helps.

Quick question about continuing exercise: Today is load day 1, round 2 and I want to lose 15 pounds in 23 days. On my first round I didn't exercise (but lost 18 pounds) but I started 4 weeks ago to go to the gym 3x a week and just work my legs and arms and I walk 3 miles in one hour each day. I also attend a one hour Pilates class a week, but that's all I do on that day. Can I continue and just add more protein and/or vegetables daily? I'm just trying to tone up those areas for a wedding, not build up lots of muscle. Thanks for any advice.

YEA! Congrats Daron! I also lost 2.5 lbs. I was happy to see the 2.5 lb loss after such lousy loading days. But, by the time I finished dinner, I was stuffed last night. My tiny apple for dessert actually was really easy to do instead of a tub of ice cream! LOL
Congrats to all of us doing our 1st VLCD & surviving! I will say that I'm still starving this morning, but trying my best to just ignore the tummy rumbling & hold out 2 more hours!

Anyone know if we can use Butter Buds? I'm guessing no, but wasn't sure. It sure would be nice on my asparagus I'm having with lunch.

Alas I only lost .4 pounds last night. But I see any loss is a good loss and I lost a 1.2 a % of fat so that is always good, also I think my hunger has finally curbed a bit. I couldn't eat my fruit yesterday- so I think im doing OK... I still feel light headed- but I think that will pass in time. I have finally settled on 12-13 drops 3x a day... and I think that has really helped. I have lost a total of 7.4 lbs so far Yay! only 28 more to go! (for this round anyway)

Oh bummer. Weight gain today but I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. I had to go off the protocol yesterday due to a tooth abscess that developed Sunday night and an emergency root canal performed yesterday. I was in so much pain and had to take some serious pain meds and antibiotics to get through the day. My stomach was so upset from the antibiotics that I ate a few extra breadsticks through out the day to settle it down. I was going to try to eat some extra protein but couldn't leave the house and breadsticks were all I had. I wonder if strong pain meds can make you gain too?

Thankfully all was resolved quickly with that darn tooth and I am feeling so much better today. I don't need pain meds beyond Advil and I am going to try to take my antibiotics with my protein so hopefully my stomach settles today. Here's to a better day on protocol!

    VLCD day 1

Well i got on the scale today and to find a gain meaning my load day 3 worked. Went up from 194.4 to 195.6. I went to a fair last night and rode all the rides and did a lot of walking and laughing so i was hoping it would still go up for my load. I ate nothing but fatty foods yesterday, no sweets that time. just to make sure i went up with all the activity that went on.

So today i started off with water, had a couple apple slices, and made my cabbage soup. So that will be my veg pretty much until i run out, apple will be my fruit whether i make slices, apple sauce, or bake my apple. And my meat will vary depending on how much time i have and such. Lunch: Cabbage soup, shrimp, apple slices, water with cristal light in it (idk if its on protocol or not but i've heard other people drinking it and its only 5 cal per serving) Dinner will be cabbage soup, apple slices, and probably tuna fish.

I don't feel like eating, i'm not hungry, i just see other food and i automatically want it. Like i saw some left over candy and i had to toss it out so i wouldnt eat it. But no hunger, i'm tired only cuz i went to the fair last night and didnt get in until 2am.

So all is good with me, hope it is with everyone else!!!!!

I make a cabbage soup that tastes pretty great ( i got the recipe from when i was on the cabbage soup diet you can google it) and besides that i make stir fry with my veg and cut up chicken slices and put it in there too which is pretty good. I love shrimp and sea food any way too tho.

I also probably am not eating 500 cal a day either. Not because i'm not hungry, but because i don't count my cal and but i know that my veg isn't a lot of cal, i don't always eat fruit, i don't eat the melba toast or grissini bread sticks, and my meat is pretty lean.
Also i'm not hungry when i shouldn't be hungry (idk if that makes sense or not) like if i've already eaten i'm not hungry until its time to eat again. When i wake up in the morning i'm not hungry until its time to eat type of thing.
