Mostly because of the food (or lack thereof). My social life in New York often revolves around going out for meals, drinks, etc. with friends, or going home to visit my parents and enjoying home-cooked meals, etc. It's funny how when you strip that part of your life down to the bare bones (e.g. doing the HCG protocol), you realize how much of a role food plays in one's day-to-day existence (or at least mine, lol).

There are also a lot more temptations at home -- my time tends to be less "scheduled," so I'm not as regimented, and there are always more options available --which can be dangerous for me. I'm also working from home next week, because of the holiday. So, I need to figure out a way to stay committed and on plan, even when I'm in this environment. Being proactive and planning meals well in advance seems key to being successful. I don't think I can leave anything to chance, especially during the first several weeks of the program.

How do all of you handle your social lives while on the program? Any tips for staying on track, while still staying sane and having fun?

Also, here are my daily stats:

    8/27: VLCD1 - 280.8 lbs.
    8/28: VLCD2 - 273.9 lbs. (-6.9 lbs.)
    8/29: VLCD3 - 269.5 lbs. (-4.4 lbs.)
    8/30: VLCD4 - 268.3 lbs. (-1.2 lbs.)
    8/31: VLCD5 - 266.6 lbs (-1.7 lbs.)

Down 14.2 lbs. so far. I know this is a lot, even by Week #1 standards. I know this will even out in coming days, and I have to say, I'm a little nervous about hitting a plateau -- one of the biggest daily motivators is seeing that number on the scale keep heading in the right direction!

Good luck to everyone out there today -- stay strong, and keep connected to your long-term goals.
Kristy - I totally understand your dilemma. I dread the weekends. I find I have to keep myself busy to avoid wanting to graze in the frig. I plan projects for my weekends. Like this weekend we are building shelves and workbench for the garage . We do have a family picnic on Monday so I plan on bringing my own food so I know exactly what is in it. If it was my choice I think I would avoid it but I'm obligated to go. So I will plan and hope for the best.

Happy Labor Day weekend, all. Hope NOBODY has to do any labor!

Before my little trip, I was bouncing around 132.8 to 133.8 and came home at 134, so thought I did okay. But earlier this week, I bounced up to 135 and was all Ruh Oh! But have whittled it back down to 133.8 again (whew). The thing about just weighing is that it just does not give you the full picture. At each of those weights, NO CHANGE IN THE MEASURING TAPE. So they were all just Normal FLUCKtuation, from travel, from being tired, from stress and finally, catching up on sleep.

I know, those of you working on different numbers may be thinking, who cares if you are 132 o4 135? You are in your 130's!!! And I agree! But, this is not my first rodeo, and I have already lost my original 50 pounds and am here, FIVE YEARS LATER, still trying to make it stick. Certainly not the stress of the first losses, but hey, not as exciting either! LOL. I THINK I am getting better at all this maintenance stuff, and then I fall off the wagon big time and have to start, if not all over, again. sigh.

But, my POINT is to measure, measure, measure so if/WHEN the scale is stingy for no reason at all, you can still see that you are making progress or at least, not messing up particularly. TESS (The Evil Stoopid Scale) will mess with your head big time. Measurements don't lie. TESS does!

April, you have done so well on being accountable to yourself on P3. Congrats! You are starting another round and I am dithering. Like you, I have worked my TAIL OFF lately, (I also work two jobs-a full time one and freelance/contract work) and some weeks it just kicks my but-she's nice. So, even though I yearn to be back to my 10 more pounds to go weight---and I won't get to wear my cutie patootie white with black polka dots capris this summer cuz they are just Too Too--- I gotta get some REST before I can even consider it. I may not be far behind you. Just don't know right now!

    Happy No Work Labor Day!

Hi Kristy! You're doing SO good, keep it up! Frankly, the social life DOES suffer while in P2. In the past, I've had a diet tonic w/a twist of lime if out with friends. If out to eat, there's only so much you can do. And yes, I was AMAZED at how much my social life centered around food and drink when I did my first round!! P3 is way easier for the eating part. In P2, I've ordered a PLAIN grilled chicken breast w/ a small salad and make sure NO cheese, crutons, or dressing is added. Or a nice piece of grilled white fish or unseasoned steak with steamed veggies. There are things you can have and stay on protocol AND be out having fun. One Thanksgiving my dad even made me a sirloin steak instead of me having turkey, he was very thoughtful like that.

Pearly, very wise words and advice! I've measured in previous rounds and it really helps the mental aspect of dealing with TESS

Does it matter if you take hhcg before or after you have your meals? As long as you wait 15 mins before/after, i wouldnít think it mattered.

Plan this weekend cause Iím in a stall and TOM is lurking- hermiting. Next weekend I will be getting out with my sister so that will be refreshing! I hope i can see low 80s then. Right now, went up a bit and stalling at 188. I made some poor beverage choices Wednesday- so Iím paying for it.
Happy weekend all. Hang in there!

    Happy Saturday everyone!

Ok, I'm using today as my transition day #2, P3 will start on MONDAY. I'm very happy with the decision, it's simply time. Today is VLCD34, total loss is 24.8#, averages to .72# per day.

I'll be doing another round after the holidays to hopefully drop another 20# or so. I'm 55, 5'7, so really don't need to be uber skinny just way more comfy. I figure if I can realistically maintain around 150#, I'm totally good with that. Especially with the health challenges I deal with now.

I will only be one day ahead of you. Whatever the scale weight yesterday showing 2.8 loss was a fluke. This morning regular weigh time is 137.2 same as last dose weight. Was nice while it lasted.

So today ended my 72 hours and Iím eating 2 scrambled eggs with bell peppers and two slices of bacon. This morning at my 72 hour mark I weighed the same as yesterday. Is that normal? I feel like I should have lost a little more. Oh well 175.2. Only .2 from what my goal was. Not bad. Hope yíall have a nice weekend. Iím off to show houses and try to get a new listing.

    Here are my stats
SW 178.6 (I was like 176.6 before load)
    VLCD 23 160.8 (LIW)
    (VLCD) 160.7 (VLCD) 160.7
    P3 week 1 160.7, 160.2, 160.7, 160.7, 161.0, 160.7, 162.4
    P3 week 2 162.4, 162.4, 163.9, 161.9, 161.9, 161.1, 161.1
    P3 week 3 162.6, 161.6. 160.3. 160.3, 161.4, 162.0, 161.7
    P4 week 1 164.1, 161.1, 161.5, 161.5, 161.5, 163.2 (no weigh in)
P4 week 2 No weigh until last day of week 2 (162.9) 162.9
    P4 week 3 162.9, 163.3, 161.6, 161.8, 162.6, 161.9, 162.5
    P4 week 4 162.5, 161.5, 162.5, 162.5, 162.9, 162.6, 161.6
    P4 week 4 161.3, 162.6, 163.7

So I am ok, not freaking out, have been here before and will have a nice high protein day and a lot of water. The beauty of weighing every day is that you get to catch it and do something about it. It could be a few things. My elbow is starting to bother me (like tennis elbow), but from too much typing in a non ergonomically correct position. I think there may be some inflammation there. Yesterday food wise I had a very clean breakfast and lunch (with a small chocolate chip cookie treat). Then for dinner we went out and my husband and I shared a greek salad and an individual flat bread pizza. It was very tiny and I wanted something different. I also had some gluten free flat bread. I want to be able to have a little something other than a salad all of the time, knowing that I might have to have super clean day. Isn't that what most people do, eat well 99% of the time and have a little splurge. I have never been an over-eater, I don't emotionally eat, I rarely eat sweets or a ton of junk, so I have always been so surprised at how easy I can gain if I don't pay attention.

Pearlymae, I totally get what you are saying. For me once I hit somewhere close to a goal weight then my goal will be to stay within that two pound window.
I am just not sure I have a number for goal weight for round two. I am going to do my next round with the hope of getting close to the 130's. But if I am in the upper 140's and my clothes fit that I want to fit, then I might make that my goal. I am 50 and 5'5" and for some reason like I have said I wonder if I have heavy bones as I measure lower than my weight.

Kristymac: HCG is hard to be social on. I would think in NYC esp where it would kill me to order lettuce and pay almost 20 bucks for it at a restaurant. I do think more so socialization revolves around grabbing a snack and drink. Can you find friends who would like to do something else that does not involve food. I also found that this the colder months are easier as it is easy to hunker down with a book and binge watch a series. If you are one of those people who like to snack more when you are home..and you feel the need to cheat, make sure you are only cheating on P2 foods. You have lost an incredible amount of weight in a short period of time, you body probably had a ton of water retention from all of that inflammation.

Blue...yeah to P3..and to everyone else it looks like everyone is doing great and chugging along.
