I don't know if I am autoimmune; I have heard my problem called insulin resistance, pre-diabetic, type 2 diabetic, and metabolic syndrome. (It's easier to just say T2D). My arthritis is bio-mechanical - my kneecaps don't sit correctly, which leads to cartilage wear and loss.

I limit my carbs to 20 g per day, basically it's Atkins induction phase. I'm not too rigid, will go over my limits some days, sometimes have a glass of wine.

Charts for my height and weight show I should eat about 70 g per day of protein. After that, fats to satiety. I also limit total calories.

It's not difficult to do. Whole, unprocessed foods; no starches or sugars.

I started HCG in late July 2017, then transitioned to keto. Within 4 months, I had lost 30 lbs (mostly from 2 HCG rounds) and my A1c was back in the normal range.

I mostly kept the weight off, but I am still 2 lbs above my goal weight. So I'll keep working it!

    Good luck,

    Lynne
Hi Lynne! I thought that was considered autoimmune, but I might be confused. Either way, itís a form of inflammation in the body. I really like your approach and Iím considering adopting something similar! The calculator that I used gave me just about the same guidelines that you mention. So I should be able to work my way up to that and see how I do! My weight stayed the same since yesterday, so thatís good news!

Hey everyone! Iím starting VLCD1 on Friday. Iím pretty nervous. I was going to wait until January, but Iíll only be fatter. Iíd rather start the year weighing less.

I had a successful round in 2012, but was never successful at it since. I have a lot of mental health diagnoses, so I have been getting those managed. Iím MUCH better now. However, my meds make weight loss a touch more challenging. Iím glad to meet people on the same adventure as me. I hope to do a longer phase 2, weíll see. Iím 240 and I feel like I want to go until I break 200. Maybe thatís crazy, I donít know.

    Anyhow, hello lovelies!

just checking in..my life could not be more stressful. In addition to all of my kid troubles last month (which have all settled down) and then my hubby being laid off. my brother graduated from rehab (6 months) and is now missing again and we know he has relapsed. I feel bad for my mom. I feel bad because I don't feel sad etc like I should. I am doing the phentermine until my next round in Jan to just get through the holidays and try to not gain my whole second round back. Food intake does not change, but the cortisol weight for me is amazing. Trying to eat less fat in one sitting as I have read a lot on how cortisol can slow down your body's ability to break down fat. We will see if it works. I would be happy to just to lose the little weight that I gained from the stress. Still up 5 pounds.

    April,

    I hope things improve -

The holidays are bad enough, but this added stress sounds tough. Weight gain after all the work and deprivation of a round, ugh!

Up five pounds? Uh... me, I was at 137 yesterday and I was 129 just a couple of weeks ago. Not sure if misery loves company. I would rather we both be back down. Like you, Iím eating pretty clean. No change, just creeeeping up. I was down to 135.2 today. 135 never looked so good. Tomorrow is another day. My stress levels are not unusually high. I run pretty high alla time... argh.

I am wishing you a good whoosh down tomorrow. And me, too!

So yesterday I was up 1.8 pounds bringing me to 125 and that is the same weight that I got this morning. I had some major GI distress 2 days ago, that caused me to quickly bring my carb percentage up to 5%. So for this reason I didn’t follow the PCDS to a tee. I’m staying at 5% for today and tomorrow and then will see where I am. I’m sure that the jump in carbs caused that the scale to go up. My GI issues were totally frightening and seem to have resolved. Also I’m stuffed eating this much fat and I’m still not at maintence calories. I’m trying to bump it up, a little each day and hoping that if I continue p3 for a longer period, that I will be stable. I’m on P3 day 11 and still feel like I have so many things that I have not put back into my diet yet! How long do you all like to stay in p3 to ensure the best stabilation?

    down a little 154.4
I am hoping to start seeing a downward trend, even if it is a slow one until my next round. No word from my bro. and I am sad to think that this maybe his end. We thought we had hit the bottom the last time with multiple jail and hospital stays. He does not have any money as far as we know. We keep looking at he jail intake in the area. I think we would be ok if he was in jail for awhile which would mean at least he was alive, he has already done court ordered rehab. At least the severance was deposited so I feel like we can be ok for about 6 months and my hubby will get a job soon. I have not changed the fafsa as I would like to see how this pans out. I am still working extra but now extra is not extra..I guess I at least have that. If it was not the holidays I would take a few days and go and see my mom in FL, but I told her if she had to go through his storage unit i would come out for that.

Hopefully the stress level will settle down now and I can look forward to xmas.

April - sorry to hear about your brother. Its tough. Thankfully mine has been a recovered alcoholic now for almost 15 years but it sure wasn't pretty when we were going through it. I was his keeper because I was too young to know any different. (Was at the end of HS and couple years after into our 20's). That's one of the reasons I don't want to up my medications into opiods because I am terrified of addiction, I would rather have chronic pain. I bought the cbd patches from frequency apps so when they arrive I will give them a whirl and see if they help.

Pearly - hoping the trend goes down for you. i feel like you body has been on a whirlwind with the surgery and whatnot so don't be too hard on her.

I've finally seen the south side of 160 this morning, haven't been in the 50's for a bit so hoping like April to trend down and start a round after the holidays. I know I can't be POP while all my family is in town for Xmas (I see them once a year) so I am not going to sweat the small stuff.

Still dealing with the shoulder issues from the flu shot - had an MRI on Wednesday and started physio therapy yesterday - hope I can get this settled as the additional pain on top of my normal chronic pain has me quite miserable tbh. And I know I am acting like a B!itch but can't stop myself sometimes.

April: Sorry to hear about your stress! I don't know exactly what you're going through (at least with the substance abuse) but I do know a little something about family members stressing everyone out. Glad you're still taking care of yourself despite everything that's been going on. Cortisol can definitely make you gain weight. I just attended a seminar about anxiety disorders and they talked about that. It's amazing what our bodies do!

I'm still planning on starting my round 1/1. Ordered my drops a few days ago from GFC. They have a new one that's supposed to be some sort of extra strength for people who have done multiple rounds and people have said it helps with their hunger issues. That's my biggest thing with any round is getting the dosage right so we'll see how it goes! I'm going to be out of town this weekend doing family photos and I'm not pleased with how I look but this week I've been eating much better and my jeans fit a little better today so at least I have that! lol I'm sure I'll eat plenty this weekend to make up for it though. I'm going to try to stick to somewhat of a diet until I start loading to minimize some of the damage. I'm hoping to do more than 21 days this round so that maybe I can lose about 20 lbs.
    New round! VLCD #1: 04/16/18

    Starting weight: 159.2
    Current weight: 148.0
    LDW: 148.0

    Goal weight: 130 - 135
