    I sense a Christy coming.... !

(Maybe I am psychic or maybe it is because she is hitting the thank and like buttons, which means she is reading and which generates 12 messages saying Christy likes something on the HCG Diet thread, all in a stack in my email. haha!)

    Hello Lovelies ~ T.G.I.F.

    TGIF Crazy Cat Fur.jpg

The T-Rexes seem to be very calm today and Big Boss T-rex is gone until Monday.

    T-Rex happiness.jpg

(For the newbies, I call all the Leadership at my office T-Rexes cause they roar, screech, run around and wave their tiny arms about at any bump in the road.)

Sorry I don’t have time to catch up on you all, but know I’m in there, cheering for every single day you stay POP. It is so great to do healthy things for YOURSELF, because you are the only one that can and will.

My P2 is going slow, but with only 20 total pounds to go until I get to my personal weight goal, I knew each P2 is going to be a struggle. I’m down 7 pounds in 13 days, which ain’t too shabby. I’m back to the weight I ended with on my last P2, so every pound or inch from this point forward is a victory.

WELCOME to all the newbies in this Forum!

April – congratulations on your P2 this month – you slayed it!! I get calf & foot cramps all the time, no matter what I eat. I have to make sure I drink enough water every day, BUT NOT TOO MUCH, or I’ll have to add more salt & electrolytes (hubby found a good one that tastes like salted watermelon, no really! I forgot the name, but I’ll get it and post). That helps, zero cals, zero carbs, tastes great if you like salted watermelon.

I’m gonna have to talk to you a little about your Insta Pot & your fav foods to cook in it – I got one for Christmas and it is STILL sitting in the box. I don’t know why I’m scared to break it out & use it, but there it is.

Lovelylady – thanks so much for the enzyme information. I’m shopping for that this weekend!!

    Mz.P – Congrats on a great P2! 4 months of bronchitis . . . AND a successful P2? You truly are . . .

    Superwoman.jpg

BTW, Quest is now making a pre-made pizza, with whey protein being the main component of the crust. I am buying some next week and will let you know how they taste. They might be an easy & tasty meal for you while you are recovering. I have to have foot surgery at the end of August, so we are both gonna need easy but heathy options.

    https://www.questnutrition.com/

    I didn’t think about trying Biofreeze on leg cramps. Hmmmm . . . .

Leez – thank you for that pearl of wisdom – I NEVER thought of pressure points to get rid of cramps, even tho’ I do the thumb pressed at the center of my eyebrow line for relieving sinus headaches (it works for me, but sometimes I have to do the pressure thing multiple times before I get any relief). You know I will definitely try that for leg cramps. I suffer from them 2 or 3 times a week.

Shmeans – so good to see you!

Kimberly – well done making through the Big 50 with no emotional eating repercussions! In August, I hit the Big 6-O and in my rebel 1970’s years, I always thought that was ANCIENT. To say the least, I have changed my thinking on that a bit over the years. BTW, I always have to go up a full size OR TWO in Mr. Ralph Lauren, so I don’t give him very much of my $$$.

About Headaches when beginning P2 – yep, I always get them. A lot of people blame detoxing, but since I normally NEVER eat sugars or grains, and I continue with my morning coffee as usual on P2, it isn’t lack of caffeine. I do not load with sugars or grains – maybe a couple slices of pizza accidentally falls in my mouth; or a pint of Halo ice cream. Or a large glass of very good red wine. But that is the extent of “bad” foods on loading, so I’m not headachy for days because of detoxing. I truly believe (for me) it is the lack of foods = constant low-blood sugar headaches. Since I usually don’t each much of anything during the day (I also do Intermittent Fasting in P3 while eating Keto), and when I do eat, it is a zero fat as I can get it, I think my blood sugar levels fall very low over night = waking with a killer headache. Pearly, I think you have had this problem for years as well. I don’t believe hcg has anything to do with it.

Excited about Healthy Food – we had a new Whole Foods market open up near our home and I’m so thrilled. So many of the specialty foods & mixes I purchase online are now there, including my beloved Coconut Aminos. They also have FRESH zoodles daily, so I’ll be getting those – along with my spaghetti squash, I really & truly don’t miss spaghetti any more. They have a full selection of Simple Mills products (I like their pizza crust mix & black peppered crackers made with cassava root flour). For those of you fighting the Chocolate Fiend, Lily’s now makes a dark chocolate/almond bark along with all their other sugar free/great tasting chocolate bars.

Weights & Sizes – I’m a size 8/10 and weigh 170. Yep, you read that right. I still have to wear Larges up top (thanks to HCG, I lose weight and inches, but not my DD’s). At 150 (which I was in college and after 2 years on Nutri-System foods in my 40's, don’t even ask/it was horrible) I was wearing a 6/8. If I got down to 135, I’d probably easily be a 4. But I’m happy and feel really super good between 155 & 160, so that is my personal final weight goal.

Mz.P – “Eeeeeek!!!! Math! >>runs down the hall and hides behind the sofa” move over, I’m hiding with you. Math is always against me.

    Hello all...

    Happy Friday everybody.

It's been an interesting few days - had my first experience of a stall with the weight not moving or shifting for 3-4 days - not fun to say the least, but it broke this morning and I'm down half a pound - so am down to 170 even, so a loss of 6.8 pounds on VLCD 11. Logically I understand my body needs to catch up and adjust to the loss, but I have to be honest and say that I really would like bigger losses next week. From everything I've read, that's not likely to happen and instead I should just settle in to the slow steady pace of hopefully .5 loss daily...

I think in my brain I was hoping to be able to lose the 50 pounds in 2 rounds maximum, but perhaps my body just doesn't work that way. I'm doing exactly protocol, with no cheating. So I can't do anything more than I am doing, other than perhaps offer myself some grace and understanding - and realize this is a long term life change, so if it takes a bit longer, that is ok. I think I'm more worried about motivation if I have to do another round or two....

I really appreciate the comment from someone in our group (I'm sorry I can't remember who in this moment), who talked about slow & steady for long term results and celebrating every part of our success, no matter how slow. I do feel that this can be a great attitude to have vs. fast and regaining it all.

Still working through the sizes and thanks for the support and recommendations for what to do while losing.

Wishing you all well as we head into the weekend.

    See you all on Monday...

    Cheers,

    Kimberly

Kimberly – During P2, I know how we all look forward to seeing that dreaded number on the scale get lower and lower. It certainly "sets" my emotional mood for the day when I see a loss.

But do not discount the total body reshaping that happens following this WOE (way of eating) for the rest of your life.

Christy - Before and After HCG.JPG

I cringe every time I post this picture, but I think it is very important. From my face down to my ankles, my entire body has been reshaped FOR THE BETTER because of the HCG protocol. I know many of the HCG Vets on this thread will concur – you may not lose that 50 pounds, but if you stay with it, hang in there throughout the process, find out what works best FOR YOU between P2’s to maintain (and even lose more inches if not actual pounds in between rounds) you will LOOK and feel like you’ve lost even more weight. I thought I needed to lose 100 pounds; turns out losing 75 pounds looks great on me.

After nearly 10 years, I'm still in the protocol, learning more and more about what MY body needs every day to stay healthy & happy.

    Just my 2 cents . . . .

    Okay, MY 2 cents!

Measure! I measure almost every day, with a safety pin marking the spot. I pull tautly, not just overlap. I don't pull tight, but about as tight as I could stand to wear. Nekkid.
That way, the scale is NOT my only way to tell I have progress. If you don't want to measure every single inch of you, fine, just choose a spot or two you most want to see progress on. And you will!

I have lost the same 'last 10' pounds several times on this protocol, after my initial losses. Sometimes 'just' ten and sometimes that 10 plus more. EVERYTIME I do this protocol, my ending X on my tape measure is lower than it was the last time AT THE SAME WEIGHT.

The protocol IS called Pounds AND INCHES for a reason!

We kind of all know this, but to see it in defined terms of actual measurement is seriously impressive. I noticed this on my past round, but I didn't have any data to back it up.

Christy, you look absolutely great and so much younger. Like you could be your own daughter. People tell me that too when they see me or old pictures, which I have pretty muich gotten rid of. I can't even find any more to use for before and after comparison.

Here's a trick they teach you in life-saving school for when a calf cramp (or foot cramp) hits. It is based on accupressure points and it works for me every time. Bonus: your finger is something you always have with you.

As soon as the cramp hits, take the side of your index finger and push under and up at the base of your nose. Push hard and maintain the pressure until the cramp releases. It might take 15 seconds or more, but it will release, sometimes quicker than that.

OMGosh. What a life-saver this has been for those middle of the night attacks.

EDIT: Haven't tried this version, since the above works for me, but it's from from Patrice Morency, a sports injury management specialist in Portland, Oregon, who works with Olympic hopefuls.

When the night leg cramp strikes, grab your upper lip between your index finger and thumb, and squeeze for 30 seconds.
How timely! I literally just had my FIRST EVER night cramp last night! Woke me up out of nowhere! But it wasn’t my calf — it was my shin!!! I figured it was because I was on my feet all day, running back and forth at work and my feet were killing me. Took some magnesium and potassium the next morning. Anyone ever experience that? A shin cramp?

Hi Kim - I am right there with you! I had very slow losses in week one and am now in a 4 day stall - on VLCD13 and have only lost 8 lbs. I agree, logically it makes sense what my body is doing and I tell myself I'm still getting above average losses, but emotionally... I want to cheat so badly! Being on P2 over the weekends is tough (single, no kids). R1 was so much easier mentally because of big week one losses and shorter stalls. I'm hoping mine breaks soon! I just keep reminding myself of how well I stabilized before and if I want that to happen again, it's not worth the cheat.

On another note - has anyone here ever done a Planned Interruption? And how did you find it? I am going camping for work for three days and a PI will be the best option for me. I've read heaps about it in the forum, but was wondering if any of you lovelies had experience and tips/tricks to share? I am going to bring mostly my own food - tins of tuna to have for lunch, miracle noodles for the 'pasta night', P3 friendly snacks, etc. But I'm hoping to hear how some of you guys went and if there are any pitfalls to avoid.

    I hope everyone has a cheat-free weekend!

A little frustrated after typing a looooonnnnnng response... only for it to not post and redirect me.
    I'll try again tomorrow.

Great updates, though. Good to see some familiar faces pop in!

Wishing everyone a cramp-free night.... (now that I know I'm not the only one... lol)
