AFM, meh, feeling very blah this morning. The rheumy started me on a new med for my fibromyalgia pain. A side effect is drowsiness, so I take it before bed. Great, but it seems to hang on in the morning. Another side effect can be weight gain. Geez, do you have any idea how many drugs list weight gain as a side effect? I received my hcg patches yesterday. Now just have to make up my mind if I wanna dive into a short round before Thanksgiving. I may, I hate hate hate the weight I'm at.

I am so sorry to hear that and that sucks that every med increases weight, if you do jump in I will support you. Looks like this thread has died a little and it has just been me and you this weekend. I am about 15 pounds from end goal..but I am ok with my body interestingly enough. I would says to myself "not bad for 50". I think for me I would rather do a few rounds and get there on this 2.0 protocol then to be so deprived that I cannot stand it. I think I could go longer, if I could forgo the social aspect of it and I do feel like I give up some of the things I like..which is dinner and drinks out, which for me is very doable on P3/p4 and not necessarily means a weight gain.

Interested to see how the patches work.

    Musings from Pearl...

Hmmm... Iím pretty boring these days, Iíve been 131 point sumpin all week. I keep thinking Iíll pop up or drop down. Up from eating a pc of toast or down from dispersing inflammation. But Iíll take 131.x any time. Iím 5 under LIW.

I admit Iíve loosened the reins a bit the last two weeks, so Iím surprised I am staying so stable. Thrilled but surprised.

But unlike other times where a pc of toast lead to donuts and fries, Iíve only loosened up a little, not tossed out the rule book. Iím still 98% P3 protocol. This is what P4 is supposed to look like. In 5 years, Iíve never been able to handle p4 without creeping weight. However, Iíve tried to keep my weight under 130, 125 to 128 has been my sweet spot.

So maybe I was just hitting my head against the wall and I could have saved myself a lot of anguish if Iíd settled for 131 -133 before.

So hard for me, as at one time 133 was my all time highest weight and it sent me to Diet Center, Jenny Craig, etc because that was such a scary number for me. NOW itís my low weight?? Eeeeeeeeeeek.

Probably just another instance of my denial of how freaking old I am.

I watched a lot of the Dr Who
Marathon this weekend. I really liked The Doctor #12. Who am I kidding? I have a type. Celtic, full head of hair and an accent. If heís left-handed, I was probably married to him at one time.

But on the subject of denial, the actor is older than dirt but FIVE YRS younger than me.

    Here are my stats
    Round 1 SW 178.6 LIW 160.8
    Round 2
    P1 day 1 164.1
    P1 day 2..no weigh in
    VLCD 1 165.3
    VLCD 2 162.6
    VLCD 3 161.0
    VLCD 4 159.7
    VLCD 5 158.6
    VLCD 6 157.5
    VLCD 7 156.9
    VLCD 8 156.2
    VLCD 9 155.8
    VLCD 10 155.0
    VLCD 11/12 154.6
    VLCD 13 153.9
    VLCD 14 153.9
    VLCD 15 153.1
    VLCD 16 153.1

Well..not sure I am going to make goal this go around unless I have a big whoosh..coming to grips with it. The scale flashed on the 152 number then settled back on 153.1. I am good. I feel like I have lost inches and a pair of pants I put on at the beg of the round which were fitting, are now hanging on so I am good with that. It really is how I feel and how I look in clothes and like I said I feel good with how I look. I am going to just finish this round with wherever it puts me and be good with it and then do a round in Jan-Feb and see what it puts me. If I have to..I will do one more later but I am going to space them out and again be ok with it.

I was meeting with a friend who kind of prompted me to go back on. She had just done a round with a friend and looked fantastic and it made me realize i could do it again. Her friend she did the round with had just done her second one and had done 30 days and only lost 7 pounds. I asked her how she looked though and she said "fantastic". So as we have said before this protocol can make you look better than the number on the scale and that is how I feel.

Pearly, it is not fun to struggle with staying at the weight we were when we were younger. Also our body shape changes to the same pair of pants not fit because of that. If I can get into a pair of pants that I have been saving (they are on but not looking good) then I will be good. With this diet, it may only take 5 pounds to get into them. I will just see what happens. Right now I am good.

    Good morning!

April, yup, it's surprising how little weight we actually need to lose on this protocol to really see a difference! That's one of the things I like most about it. I'm trying very hard to get over the number I see on the scale vs how I feel I look and feel. I just turned 55, most of my adult life I was 125# or less, and for many years actually held steady at 113#, and I'm 5'7. I won't say I was eating healthy, either, I was eating crap and starving myself. Very bad habits, to say the least. My reality totally shifted when I started menopause and then had thyroid issues. Since then, my body just love's the 170's, and I'm fighting it tooth and nail. I hope it's not in vain, but man, do I hate the 170's! And, thank you for supporting me jumping into another round. I very much appreciate that. Still greatly leaning in that direction, too.

Pearly, you totally made me chuckle this morning and it was sorely needed! Thank you With your surgery and recovery, you're doing awesome being 5# below LIW, too.

    Rose, hee hee!

AFM, feel like total yuck this morning. I'm sure it's the initial phase of getting used to the new med for the fibro. Screaming headache when I woke, and I have a ton more pain (these are both listed side effects). So, hubby went golfing without me and that's perfectly fine in my book. My shoulders hurt so bad it's very difficult to even lift my coffee cup - never had THAT before. Geesh. I expect to hear back from the Humira people today on whether I qualify for assistance covering the ridiculous co-pay. If not, I've already made arrangements to call my rheumy and she will prescribe the third oral med we discussed last week. Though, reading the literature, it has a lot of really nasty side effects, worse than Humira. Can't win, can I? Both have hair loss listed, so I've already decided a wig may be in my future. And, I have a ton of fun looking at them anyway so there's that, hee hee. Slip it on, pretend to be a new, vivacious me No plans today other than running to pharmacy for regular meds. Putter around with some housework maybe, probably a couple loads of laundry, we'll see. Oh, and I weighed this morning, 173.8# even with the increase in pain. P4D8, LIW was 172.8# so I'm doing great I think.

    Happy Monday!

I had a good whoosh this weekend so I'm now down 12 1/2 lbs - YAY! That darn cauliflower gets me every time. I should know better by now. I'm three weeks in and starting to think about the end of my round. It's nice to be on the tail end of the round. A week from Thursday will be my last drops day. I'll likely end 5-7 lbs from my goal - dang it. Although I wish I could go longer, I have an event and outpatient surgery so I need to take a break. I'm going to do a week in P3 and then decide how to proceed. I may consider it a planned interruption and get back on hcg for another week or so. We shall see.

This weekend, I did a few fun things with my daughter and pretty much laid low other than that. Weekends are particularly hard for me. Too much free time and temptations but overall I did well and tried to keep busy.

Have a great day all and may the losses be with you.

    Hey
I can totally relate to being a few pounds from goal, but I am stopping for the same reason, I have a life to live and don't want to do it on P2.

    hey y'all

Been a busy weekend - took Friday off and spent a date day with hubby. Was a nice break from reality of this last couple weeks.

We took a charter bus to Houston this weekend as my daughter had her two hockey games there - they lost in OT and won the second game and she scored a goal! Was a great day in my books.

I didn't weigh in this morning so will get back on the scale tomorrow.

Good work April - its hard when you have a goal in mind and it slips through your fingers but you were so steady in your P3/P4 that I have no doubt you'll get where you want in the end.

Blue - great work! sorry to hear of the side effect junk, my joints were killing me this weekend and think it was from all the rain/humidity we have been having lately. Think once I get the thyroid figured out I have two surgeries I need to schedule - knee scope and scrape and potentially a hip replacement (already had it reconstructed about 5 years ago). Sucks to be 40 and really broken lol.

    Diesey,
I had joint pain for 20 years that turned out to be thyroid related. Be sure your doc knows about direct T3 therapy as well as T4. I can't believe I spent all those years waking up and counting the joints that ached... and any day I had one or two that didn't I considered a good day. I was tested for everything imaginable, but it was thyroid all along. I have NO pain anymore. Meanwhile, just as I was starting on T3, I also started a supplement call MSM.

It is a sulfur powder and was recommended to me for joint aches. It DID help.
Note: I am allergic to SULFA, but amazingly, SULFUR is not related to SULFA.

I am taking both a T3 and T4 since I don't convert the T4 properly. I am still in the investigative portion of my thyroid journey and hit the doc every 3 months for bloodwork and adjustments. I currently do T3, T4, progesterone and testosterone lol

I hope the T3 helps with the joint pain but have had joint issues most my life and my mom just had her knee's replaced so think I am doubly screwed lol
