    Dear lovelies,

Friends, it has been an awful couple of days here. Things were getting better for dad. He is making progress and the therapists say he is getting stronger. So I thought I had turned a corner to getting back to some semblance of my own life. Today however mother got in a car accident. She is fine except for a cut on her arm but she sideswiped three parked cars. I am now going to have to drive them everywhere as I am no longer going to let them drive. They are not in favor of this but too bad. They live 30 minutes from me, so this is going to be hard. I also need to start finding them an assisted living place they can afford. They do not have much money at all and gosh are they picky. I asked them to look and all that meant is they went to all these fancy dinners at expensive places. Sadly I am not able to help financially, but I do devote a lot of time to them. I have one other sibling, a brother who has managed to spend every dime he ever had. Not only is he no help but he lives 6 hours away and just creates drama. When he comes to town for “vacation” he is no help at all, just extra work. Additionally, when I tell him what’s going on he just finds a way to try to blame me which is kind of outrageous considering he does nothing to help.

On top of that, P3 has been an unusual struggle for me. My previous P3s were dismal events where I gained weight. This time I am not hungry. I have no appetite for the first time ever. Part of this is due to the anxiety of finally being the weight I want to be, anxiety about my life, and my financial situation, and the anxiety of my parents situation. I asked Leez for help today as I am only up to 1,000 calories. I am worried I will tank my metabolism but I am just not hungry. The Good News is I am still 132, so still 1 pound below my LDW. I ate a very late dinner, so tomorrow’s weight may not be accurate. Today is P3 day 7. I have been trying to increase my calories gradually but never have I been “not hungry/ not wanting to eat “ like this in P3...or any day except for P2!

How has everyone else navigated a successful P3? How many calories did you eat? Have you ever been not hungry or had no appetite in P3? Please let me know your thoughts. Leez said that if I don’t eat more I will screw up my metabolism...

Sorry for the late night rant. Just keeping it real...Thanks for your input and I look forward to reading back and seeing how everyone is doing tomorrow!

    Fondly,
    RK

Oh RK, my heart goes out to you and your folks.I've followed your conversation with Leez and she is spot on.. Get those fat bombs in there and that will surely help. I've had similar appetite issues and sabotaged my P3, too. No hunger and no desire to cook was a double edged sword. My solution was to make the healthy fats more convenient. I would eat an avocado like an apple! I also really love cheese. I'd bake a whole pound of bacon and nosh on that for a couple days. I don't count calories in P3 though. P2 always cures me of any future math and calorie counting! I hope you find a comfortable resolve to your situation.

AFM, I'm chipping away at 171. Just .2 a day these last few days. I think I should walk away from the scale for the rest of the week, I feel like I'm swept up in this number game. Less than two weeks left, 6ish pounds from my goal of 165. A whoosh would be very welcome :-)

    Everyone take care today!

    Good morning, Lovelies!

RK, Ugh. I feel for you. I agree with Tracy & Leez (saw that thread - great info)... healthy fats are important and you do need to increase calories. Cocoa crack and string cheese are my go-to snacks in P3. I'd bet all that stress is impacting your appetite. Hang in there!

Pearly, I hope P2PIIVLCD1 was fabulous. lol

Hiya Tracy, Gem, Linder, Mama, everyone.

It's P2D5 for me. Typical week 1, so no challenges... yet.

    Have a great day, all!

Rk, boy do I hear you! My sister and I spent almost 3 months doing the hospital/rehab thing with my 94 year old Mom when she fell and broke a bone in her pelvis. She is home and doing well back in assisted living, but we are still spinning from the upset in our lives! As for assisted living places, please let them know that your folks are on a limited income. They have ways to help. My folks were eligible for Medicaid, which of course, as part of the Greatest Generation, they were too proud to take for a while, but finally it became a Godsend. There are hoops to jump through etc. but might be worth checking into. Also, there are senior driving services that have rates that seniors can afford. Usually they have to be scheduled in advance, so not spontaneous, but still better than an hour round trip for you for every time they want to run to the store.

And boy do I hear you about brothers. There is a reason the expression Oh, Brother! is popular. Mine is far away, always broke and having some kind of drama/trauma. Completely helpless when it comes to taking care of parents and barely able to take care of himself.

Tracy, you deserve a woosh. Hang in. Wooshes Happen!

Kar, you are a warrior! Keep on it!

AFM, I did not deserve any losses from my VLCD 1---extenuating circumstances, but the whole idea of this is to handle those without resorting to FOOD. My brother in law went to the ER with stomach pain and was kept overnight and will have an exploratory procedure today, so just as I was settling in to work for the day, I got a text asking me to go out and handle kiddos for the day. One of my nephews had stayed home sick from school. I got there at 11 and was there until 9 pm.

I took my lunch with me, I took an in case of emergency protein drink, but I didn't plan for supper. Somehow while getting after school snacks for teenagers, I started eating string cheese and chips like they were the most exotic, delicious and satisfying food in the world. Not. So, my day was only about a 60% POP.

So imagine my thrill that I am down 1.6. OMG and PTL!

I need to EARN that today and be 100% POP even though I will be running kids to lessons and stuff and spending the evening there again. I'll try to plan a little better. I hope to make a vat of soup later this morning which will get me through.

Yep, I made a "Post Planned Interruption" ticker! I said I would if I could get past my previous LIW and I never expected to get there so soon. I feel a little like I may jinx this, but I did it anyway!

Oh, RK, I feel for you. Sending a virtual hug your way...

You've gotten some really good advise here about healthy fats and parental care. I agree with all of it. Another thing to consider besides assisted living is in-home care. We did that with my mom as a transition to the full on, move to assisted living thing. We had a caregiver come in 3-4 hours a day to help with cooking, cleaning, driving to hair appointments & stuff. We were both working full-time, so it was a life saver for us. We did that for about a year and then we were all ready for the final move.

Tracy, Kar, Pearly - Keep up the losing. Even 0.2 down is still Down!

    Everyone have a great day!

Sounds like you may be low on potassium. Aching legs is a pretty good indicator. If you don't have a potassium or a magnesium/potassium supplement you can take 1/4 tsp cream of tartar in your water a couple times during the day and see if that helps. Using mineral salt (pink salt, gray salt, sea salt) in your water may help.

RK, big hugs your way. I am so sorry to hear about all you're going through with your parents. I'm glad they're okay, and hope they will be realistic with you about their plans for the future. The stress you're under is a lot; so please remember to give yourself grace every day, and take care of yourself. I hope your P3 will turn out really well because you've eased into it gradually. So try to add a little more each day and get to the right amount of food for you. I am so happy for you that you've reached your amazing happy weight! This is such a wonderful thing in this hard time you're going through. Hold onto that and keep your health and self care on your daily list. I know it's hard when you have to take care of others; so I want to remind you to keep yourself on that list too. You'll be a better help if you are okay and feel well. I hope you find some simple joys every day and do something little, even a few minutes of something that relaxes you a day...a face mask, a bath, a chapter in a favorite book or a short phone call to someone that makes you laugh. I hope you feel hope and joy for today and the future. You are worth it all!

Hi Ladies, I posted this reply in the Dec thread, but I know you probably won't see it there; so I'm pasting it here. Big hugs to everyone! I'm cheering for all of you lovelies!

Thank you so much ladies! I have missed all of you! I don't know if you will see this in the December thread; so I'll see I can move this over to Feb too.

I have missed all of you and am so excited to see you still here, losing, maintaining and succeeding!

Thank you for all the great ideas. I am going to get The Fast Metabolism book from the library. I have tried so many books but no that one. I have the Trim Healthy Mama books and use some of their menus, but ONLY the Low carb ones. So I haven't done THM. I am so afraid to try their carb meals because once I gain a lb. it won't come off without doing a fat fast. Even then it is a losing battle. Kind of 2 lbs on, 1 lb off. It's a nightmare. So I am going to see if the Fast Metabolism is for me. Leez has given great advice in the past. I think I am just to scared to add carbs and need to find a way that I can. I have tried, and so far it has always caused a gain that stuck.

The exercise thing is big. I only do light exercise. I walk several times a week, bike, and do gentle exercises. I don't enjoy the ones that work up a sweat quickly. But I need to just do it. Thanks again for all the encouragement. I am not giving up!

Beachy- Wow, so sorry to hear you are struggling in many areas. The food situation can really get you discouraged as well. That always messes with how I view myself, although I shouldn't let it, & has an effect with how I may cope w/everyday life.

Perhaps reaching out to one of the "coaches" here can help. You can go over your food choices & see what could be making you gain or stop you from losing.
That is sure a lot of foods that you should be able to eat w/o gaining- at least they are for me in P3. I was able to eat a variety of fruits w/o probs as well.

Good luck & try hard not to be to discouraged as it can cause you to slide down a "slippery slope."
This is the perfect place for you to come to get encouragement & tips.

    Until then, Stay Focused!

Gemgirl, congrats on your day-after-steak-day weight! lol

keke28, welcome! I've had some week-long stalls before. You need to trust that the HCG is working, even when the scale doesn't show it. Your cells are just holding onto some extra water, which will eventually WHOOSH away.

chawna, I haven't tried the shake, but I understand your frustration in P3. The "steak day" key seems to be that you're fasting all day, then eating high protein w/ a little fat, followed by the apple or tomato. I know of some who have had success with chicken thighs or eggs. So if you decide to do a correction day, substituting seafood may work for you.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Chawna: So Sorry about the loss of your mom. I don't consider this the worst time to do the diet--especially when you consider this is the time of year when most people (especially me) gain! So 10 pounds down is not bad! At Least we are not in the gaining mode!
GemGirl: Great job on your steak day! Nice that you are still in your window after a Christmas diner! That is wonderful!
Beachy: I'm so sorry it sounds like you have had a very tough time of it. Grammy always recommended, "The Fast Metabolism Diet" by Haylie Pomroy to fix any lingering issues of "Carb and other Sensitivity" like you (and I in the past) had. I got her book out of the library and it really helped me when I was on the "meat and veggies or I gain" wagon. Grammy has also recommended "Trim Healthy Momma" but I never tried that. Think about giving one of those plans a whril? Also, and probably a better idea is maybe start a new thread and ask Leez what to do? I know others have faced this, and another girlfriend of mine after HCG several rounds and that issue also did Haylie's book with great results. Don't give up! Others have faced this and there are solutions out there. We don't have to live like that.

Welcome KeKe! Try not to cheat. Often people cheat because their dose is slightly off and they are hungry. It always takes me several days of not losing after a cheat to get losing again. If you are cheating because you are hungry, then your dose is slightly off and I would try to get help from the veterans regarding your dose on the other threads. ( I do hHCG and so I am not able to help). For what it's worth, I have found Being on HCG was a good time to work out my own emotional eating issues and get past them. But I suspect it is a dosing issue. Apple Days, Dr Simeons says are more for psychological benefit and I have never found them to work personally. I prefer Detox baths and Inflammation smoothies. Also, most rounds I end up in at least one stall, even with no cheating, and I notice I lose inches even though the scale does not move. It is frustrating but it will pass. Don't give up!

AFM: The scale is moving better than my previous rounds, and I am doing nothing different....So it makes no sense to me but I am grateful for a .7 lb loss today. I wish I could figure out why my losses are so much better for any future rounds, but I am not doing anything differently. I was not feeling well yesterday, just pooped. I don't know if it was the diet, the holiday stress, or my family's sick people's germs trying to get me. Today I feel better! I'm way behind but moving forward...at a snail's pace.

    Onward as Dear Pearly says.

    Have a great day!

Beachy - so sorry to hear of your troubles. I like RK's ideas about following a plan to help your metabolism. I've not tried those myself, but have read many success stories about people who have.

Keke - Welcome! Yes, unfortunately stalls are all part of the process. I've had plenty of those myself. So, even though the scale doesn't move, the inches probably are. The beauty of this protocol is that you lose inches in places that no other diet enables you to! Don't give up!

Kar - Thanks for all your good advice and support! Hope your maintenance (you're in P3, right?) is going well. And hope you're over your illness soon.

Chawna - sorry about the loss of your mom. While it doesn't sound like the best time to be doing a diet, it does give you an opportunity to take care of YOU. 10 pounds lost is much better than 10 pounds gained ;-)

Gem - Good job on keeping your steak day loss! And braving a Christmas dinner on top of that. Good for you! I'm getting better at navigating my way through "regular" food meals and just sticking with low carb options in P3/P4. P2 is a little harder to do!

Everyone else - hope things are going well. This thread is getting busy again, so I've lost track a bit...

AFM: Down 0.3 this morning on P2D21, so I'm at the halfway point, more or less. Still about 1 pound above where I was before the beginning of my PI and 2.5 pound gain, but I am zeroing in on continuing my downward journey. I've got 19 more days to go and feeling like I can stick with it. I don't measure, but I can feel the inches coming off. My pants are baggy!

Have a great rest of your week everyone!

    Good afternoon, Lovelies!

    Welcome back, Beachy!

It's my P2D6 and I'm the same weight as yesterday. Very strange for week 1, but whatevs. At least it's not a gain. And......... I was just thinking, "Why am I so hungry all of the sudden?" Then I looked at the clock. "Oh... because it's lunch time." So the morning really got away from me today.

Hope everyone has a great day!

    Good Morning lovelies,

Thank you for all the advice and support. I ate dinner at 10 PM last night and the highlight of the day was reading your posts. It is so great to connect with you guys as we go down the path together.

Tracy: I loved your tea story ha ha. I know that's old but still so good. We can't have people falling asleep at work! Take the tea definitely! How is your weight loss? Glad to know I am not the only one with no hunger in P3, although Leez is probably correct (she is so smart) and it is anxiety tanking my appetite. Thank you for the avocado and cheese suggestion. I am now team fat all the way. Hello bacon and seeds too. A woosh is coming. I lose inches when I don't lose pounds so hang in there. Also, maybe a Planned Interruption would get things moving if this stall lasts a week? Also are you taking supplements? I take a Multivitamin pill, magnesium (calm) and vitamin C to keep things moving. Also vitamin D.

Pearly: You rock and so glad you are back. It is so nice to hear from you and the rest of the lovelies because I know you can relate to my situation. Years ago I bought this fixer upper (total dump), really neglected house in one of the nicest parts of town. The good news is great schools and we spent years fixing it up. The bad news is that most of these folks here all come from money, have wealthy parents, and can't relate to my situation. Mom and Dad struggle financially, they were even so stupid as to take their Social Security early (which was small anyway) because they needed the money. I am going to look into driving services and also some different living situation for them. My poor dad. He was so sweet to Mom, told her so long as she was ok nothing else mattered. It is just overwhelming for me here. The head of the SNF (Short Term Nursing) told me even though Dad has great insurance, and could stay longer, we should talk about an exit plan before he gets "institutionalized" and can't comfortably go back to living on his own. I thought that was very ethical of her, as they have low numbers of people there. So I am going to meet with them today and begin to plan an exit to home care next week, maybe. In the meantime I am telling dad he can put on his own PJs, etc. It's crazy what they do for him there. He also wants to set up one of the nurses with his GI doctor...We will ask Santa again for a different brother ha ha. The parents can manage on their own, just not driving now so I don't know what level of place that means. Also, great job on your losses!

Kar: Yes, Leez is brilliant. I hope your week 1 is giving you a ton of great losses. Sorry to hear about today's lack of loss, but I have had that in week one, and then week 2 was fantastic losses. So fingers crossed that is your story.

LinderLou: Thank you for your good wishes. You are our P4 inspiration.

MtnMama: Thank you! Maybe think about a multivitamin pill and definitely listen to Leez and look at the Potassium/magnesium supplements to cure the blahs and aches... I also always need to add sea salt. Also, I always do Homeopathic pellets and sometimes you do have to adjust the dose. Contact Leez and ask her how to do a skip day and get your dose right. It made a huge difference for me to adjust my dose. I felt better and my losses were so much better on the correct dose.

Beachy: Hello! Thank you for your kind words. I know a lot of people who have fixed their carb sensitivity on the Fast Metabolism Diet. The library is my choice for things too! My library even has free ebooks and e magazines, and the book on an ebook is good too.

AFM: Just keeping my head in the game. So grateful for you all and Leez. I posted to her on a P3 tab. I also found some blog posts she did on P3, which may be helpful for everyone come P3 time. Tonight I have a wine dinner. I may have a few sips of wine but no sugars and no starches. I am going to cross examine the chef about the menu and ingredients. I bring them a ton of business so I know they will take care of me. Also, I don't have hunger, so it should be easier to avoid all my favorite things. I am really taking everyone's great advice to heart. Having lots of fat bombs and making myself eat. My weight is very stable fo once which is weird. I m afraid of tanking my metabolism so I am eating more. I have cleared dairy, seeds and eggs. Maybe tomorrow I will try nuts or maybe wait until P4? Not going to talk about food here as P2 people don't need that trash haha.

Everyone have a wonderful day! Thank you again for all the support. It really means a lot to me.

    Warmest wishes,
    RK
