Well, if it's any consolation, you're not alone. My doc recommended HCG at my appointment at the beginning of August, but the woman in the office who administers the program was so backed up with folks who'd gained during COVID, I couldn't start until the end of September!
I was fortunate in that I'd deliberately lost 10 lbs at the start of quarantine for a spring break trip that never happened. Then I ate my feelings for six months and gained it back plus some. I'm not finding HCG to be a magic bullet by any means, though I do have 10 days left of a 25-day round, so time will tell. I've certainly lost weight more quickly doing other cleanses and fasts, but what I'm hoping for is a complete lifestyle overhaul. I needed the structure and discipline and smaller portions. I need the long-term stabilization to keep me on the straight and narrow. I needed my doc's intervention to help me return to a lifelong diet that is designed to support my thyroid health.
And I just wrote in my journal this morning that restricting and monitoring what I eat is going to be a permanent situation if I want to be healthy and happy in my body. It's just the way it is. It always has been this way, and now that I'm nearly 44, it's only going to be more crucial.
So, I'm reading about keto and IF and continuing to track my meals and weight. I know I'll tire of it at some point, but I'm doing my best to talk myself into making this habit because it will be worth it.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with me, because it really is so helpful. We all fall off the wagon and get back on periodically. It's almost like the seasons, no? Works in progress, all of us. Just doing our best and finding our best ways forward. Again and again. . . .
Today my weight is 160.4 and I've spent the morning preparing food. Orange roughy with fennel, roasted radishes, garlic green beans with shrimp, and salsa chicken breast in the crock pot. Friday is my day to replenish fruit and veg, and I have more than enough to get me through. Always helps to have good meals on hand!
