Thank you. I don't know why I'm so paranoid this time around!
At least I can laugh about my screenname reading as if I have hair-friends; I really should have put a space in there(I do not have lice.)
It's not unusual to get bloated as you enter P3. The change in food volume is usually enough to back things up. If your magnesium isn't working to free you up, increase your dose each day until it does. Then take a detox bath and start weighing again the next morning. You'll likely be fine. I'm always surprised the first few days of P3 because I feel like I've ballooned (until that bloat goes away) but the scale doesn't rise. I promise you, you have not had a return of the fat you lost.
If you find you have gained some, and it helps for peace of mind, you can just use that new weight as your new LIW and go from there.

Oh Sam! I’m sorry you’ve been going through all of that. This thread has been very quiet. Usually there would be a lot more people on here to tell you that you are doing fine!
So I will! Good heavens anyone who can stick to P2 and make it through is doing sensational. This is not an easy way of losing weight.
And all those people who harassed you do not know what the diet is about or how hard it is.
They read on the Internet how you can lose 2 pounds a day eating everything you like and just take a tablet. They are uninformed as that is certainly not how it works. If they think that is what you were doing they must also believe in Bigfoot and Aliens from Outer Space. In other words, they are Are the ones who don’t know squat! And they certainly don’t know what you’re doing.
Most of us here kind of don’t tell the kind of diet we’re on. Not that we’re ashamed of it but it’s just too much Internet Hooey about it and we don’t want to have to spend half an hour explaining it.
Personally I say I’m on One of those low carb low fat low food diets and people run because they don’t want to know anymore about THAT!
Transition days are always hard and so we are the first few days of P3 while we get used to actual normal volumes of food. Trust that is just part of the process.
I know. There are days when I’ve had some thing not totally off protocol but not totally on and the next day I’m sure I’ve gained back the entire 25 pounds I lost last round. Overnight. Which of course is impossible and sometimes I’m up half a pound but sometimes I’m down so I can’t tell, that’s why I weigh.
Weighing can give you as many victories as it does defeats. But it’s just a tool. We can’t let it mess with our little heads! That’s why we call it TESS (The evil stoopid scale).
Hang in. People are busy but they will come back and you can be the one to support them when they start their P2 rounds cuz you just nailed yours!
Onward!

I wasn't expecting this round to be as emotional as it has been. You're totally right - this diet takes serious determination and I need to recognize the strength it took to even make it this far. And as tough as it was, I'm very grateful right now for sticking with the long round.

Ugh, yes. This is exactly how I feel, regardless of how irrational it sounds. I'm not even eating dairy or nuts, but it's just the volume and frequency of meals that feels so odd. Never thought I would say that!
I really appreciate your kind words! I just needed someone to shake me back into reality. Thank you so much, and I hope you have a great day <3
UPDATE - P3D4
I finally had "movement" yesterday morning and today, so I decided to be brave and just weigh myself. I'm up 8.4 lbs. Decided to change the scale battery. Aaaand...8.4 lbs.
I added chia day one, to get things "going", and in lieu of dairy I've been using coconut milk powder (no fillers, 100% organic coconut). But I'm also using shredded coconut, and coconut manna quite liberally so I will just cut that completely and see what happens. Oh god, I also had flax bread with coconut flour. I have no idea what this coconut obsession is about!
I also used butter on P3D2, so hopefully that's the culprit as I had bad inflammation every time I used HWC before starting this round.
Ugh, not what I wanted to see, but now I need to decide between chicken thighs all day or pulled pork for dinner. I get so moody when my blood sugar drops so I need to make a firm decision to stick with lest I give in to cravings later.
I actually gained 8 lbs loading for this round, and I'm 99% sure it was from dairy. I lost all of that weight overnight after starting vlcd, so I'm taking that as a glimmer of hope for today.
Wish me luck. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Sam,
Oh dear! Good luck settling that bloat down and getting back to LIW. Definitely try a nice, hot bath with Epsom salts, and enjoy your correction day. Re low BS when fasting: I'm T2D and eat keto so I'm always driving for low BS; I allow myself one coffee with HWC on correction days.
I have had similar issues with weight gain when starting P3, so now I do a calorie ramp-up. The first week, I add about 1/3 of the calorie increase, the 2nd week, about 2/3 the difference, and the last week of P3 I bring my calories up to normal by the end of the week. Then in P4, I start trying more foods. I also use steak days in P3/P4 if I feel I'm creeping up.
AFM: I'm on P4D16, 136.3#.
Thanks for your kind words, gz9.
Just did a 4 mile walk in the freezing rain, so hopefully that helps. I should just head out now to get epsom salts.
I keep trying to figure out what I can put in my coffee for sustenance, since dairy and coconut are out for the foreseeable future. I have a small ripe avocado but that seems counterintuitive...hmmm.
I was totally planning on easing into the calories, but my appetite was insatiable. Whoops. Glad I finally checked.
How is p4 treating you?
Also - for tomorrow I'll plan on a P2 day (...plus olive oil?).
Would it be wise to do an inflammation smoothie as well? How many calories should I aim for throughout the day?
Thanks again, you've all made this set back much easier. I'm trying to be positive but oh it's a fight today!
Sam, I can’t do coconut! I blow up like a balloon and gain 1-3lbs overnight and that’s just cooking w a little coconut oil!
So I think you found a food sensitivity.
I understand there is an oat milk that is creamy for coffee. Maybe someone who has used it will chime in.

Oh nooooo, not my coconut!!!! I just bought another pound of the stupid coconut milk powder yesterday!
I'm petrified of adding anything else at this point, but thanks for the idea. I drank some acv, which I detest, so that worked as an appetite deterrent...for now. Ribeyes were on sale so I can only assume the universe is on my side today.
I woke up way earlier than usual, so I'm trying to figure out how early "dinner" can be.
I'm coconut sensitive too. It was confirmed when I had both the hair and blood food sensitivity tests done. I don't eat any coconut-based products, but my best friend makes a mean coconut cake every year at Christmas, and I make an exception for whenever I eat it by fasting the next day. It's totally worth it, and I do go back down in the next day or two to where I was before I ate the coconut.
See if you go back down by eliminating all of the coconut products for the next week at least.

Hi everyone! Still here! I guess I am just living the life not worrying. Scale is creeping up very slowly and my stopping point is 160. I want to see how I do by making good but not perfect choices. Suffice it to say that it's not ideal LOL But I am also not up enough for a round yet so I decided to just wait and see. Between the infections last round, and then travelling, and preparing for an exam (all done but no results yet) I decided to just relax.
My food cravings are weird: I could eat yogurt all day. No, I am not pregnant!
I am coconut sensitive too! It's so annoying!
