    Hi Sam,

My P4 is going well, I'm below my weight at the end of P2 and I have avoided major pitfalls.

Hmmmmm . . . no dairy and no coconut for your coffee? Maybe almond milk + avocado oil? I know, doesn't sound great, but I got nothing better to suggest. Good luck sorting this out!

So since discovering yesterday that I was up 8.4 lbs from LIW, I did a steak day. 1 lb of ribeye, but I salted it bc I didn't know not to. I was still hungry after finishing so I ate the skin from 2 chicken thighs and half of the meat from one thigh.
I dressed the tomato w/olive oil, oregano, more salt lol, and a splash of red wine vinegar.

I walked 4 miles in the morning, took a detox bath, then walked 2-3 more miles after eating.

Today I am down FIVE pounds!!!!
I'm still 3 lbs over LIW, so my plan for today is -
    chicken thighs and mahi.

I wanted to make mushroom soup to have w/ the chicken, and I already have slaw that I made w/ homemade mayo for the fish, but I am not sure if I should stay away from carbs today. I really want avocado all day too. Any suggestions are welcome!

I also have pulled pork that I made right before this debacle, but I finished it in homemade bbq that's tomato based. I feel like I should just freeze that for now.

gz9 - That's amazing stabilization! I hope that I can be like you when I grow up and graduate to p4
I am just going to drink black coffee with matcha powder + raw cacao, I'll report back if it turns into some kind of creamy miracle. I have an unopened almond milk but I'm too scared of nuts right now.

sdwis and mrsstrong - I had no idea so many people were sensitive. Huge bummer because my love of coconut mitigated the grieving period I experienced when I had to cut dairy. Also, that cake sounds amazing, I would take the gain as well!

Sorry to get all mushy, but you all really helped me get through this very scary time, and I can't thank you enough. :*)

    I forgot to add -

I have another steak, so I'm thinking

    friday - Steak Day
saturday - Clean P3 (does avocado fit here?), no veg
    sunday - Steak Day
    monday - Clean P3

I really thought I had a firm grasp on what to do, but I read something new every day that contradicts what I thought I knew, so I'm trying something new by asking for help. Thanks so much 🥰

Some mighty inflammation you are battling. Good to hear its coming off quickly.

Its ok to follow a steak day with a low carb day, but not a no carb day. That would be like doing two steak days in a row, which is not a good idea. A steak day can only be done after 4 regular eating days. (Even once a week is too much if you have to do that regularly.) You can do a high protein day more frequently, though. But don't omit veggies. Do have your avocado! And, at the very least, add some low carb veggies in your mushroom soup like celery or greens. Don't restrict calories....that is super important in P3.

Not sure what you mean by "clean P3" since you are listing no veggies. Generally, clean P3 would be interpreted as meats, veggies, good fats and fruits. Eliminating the main problem foods: dairy, eggs, nuts, cheese and processed foods---that would be the clean part. That is fine as a follow up to a steak day.

You may be able to get away with an extra steak day thrown in there, and some have, but the above is what is recommended for best chance at stabilization.

You don't need to avoid salt on a steak day. But its a good idea to use mineral salt instead of table salt. (Pink salt, sea salt, celtic gray salt....)

If you have some hemp hearts and a powerful blender like a blendtec or vitamix, you can try creaming your coffee with some of those. A little lecithin added helps the mixture stay emulsified. If that doesn't work for you, some find that adding a pinch of mineral salt to black coffee mellows it out.

Hemp hearts for the win! This was perfect, now let's all pray I'm not sensitive to hemp haha.

Thanks, Leez I'll add a salad to the menu and try some slaw if I'm feeling brave...I keep reading about cabbage sensitivity, ugh. I'm not ready for more surprises.

This round has been ridiculous for me. I weighed before loading @ 144. Weighed after first injection to find out i gained 5 overnight from TOM. 149.
Then I gained an additional 8 lbs after loading! I was very lucky to have those 13 additional pounds drop off in 2 days of vlc eating, but holy inflammation is an understatement.

Samslice, I wonder why you would still be hungry after a 16 oz ribeye? I would try to understand that before doing more steak days. Perhaps you eat too quickly? That's long been a problem for me: I eat too fast to feel satiety, when I have actually eaten enough. I can consciously slow down; but mostly I combat it by measuring / weighing and tracking what I eat. I don't mean to project my issue onto you - it's just something to consider. I also hate fasting; but a morning cup of coffee with HWC on a steak day seems to give me enough to start my day. And I don't wait too late to have my steak - usually before 4 pm.

The main idea of P3 is to get back to normal eating volumes and calories, while avoiding starchy carby foods, and staying away from processed foods.

P3 is easy for me, because the only thing I add back is fats. I add them slowly because that seems to work better - I think my gall bladder needs to be re-started when I resume eating fats (I typically get 65% to 75% of my calories from fats). P4 is also easy, it's basically continuing the final week of P3; I only count the days if I'm planning another round within 6 months.

I agree with Leez about salt. I use "Lite Salt" daily, it has potassium chloride + regular salt; to help keep my potassium levels up.

    Gz9 -

You're not projecting at all. I tracked all my calories day 1 of p3, and stopped counting (but kept eating) when I reached 300 cal over my intended goal for the day. I was definitely over eating. I was just ravenous after p2 and thought my body "needed" the food if I was still so hungry. I was also daydreaming of recipes non-stop. I feel really full now after having one skinless thigh and 1 tbl of hemp hearts. Really wanted a small avocado with that, but I went for a walk after eating, and by the time I got home I felt like I could save that for lunch.

I do eat slowly, but I also distract myself by reading while I eat so I think I'll make it a point to just focus on my meals, no distractions. And I also got lazy with my walks after p2 because it got cold. Now if I don't feel like walking, I'll jump on the train for a few stops then make myself walk home lol.

Thanks for sharing, I definitely have some emotional eating to address. I've been dealing with a brutal bout of treatment resistant depression for the past 2 years, with zero support and no health insurance. Getting my diet back in check has already helped immensely, but I definitely have more work to do.

Hemp hearts are pretty amazing thingies... They also work great in pesto instead of pine nuts and instead of bulgar in tabouli, and make a great non-dairy milk on their own. They blend up completely, so I find I don't even need to strain. Let's hope you are good with them!

If you think broccoli is safer than cabbage for you, a broccoli slaw might be an option. But if you ate cabbage in P2 without a problem, it shouldn't be an issue now.

*sympathy for that awful loading experience. 13 pounds is right up there with the records set for loading gains*

gz, that was a great tip and reminder to all of us about slowing down eating.

My reply about the loading weight was deleted when I tried to edit it, so I'm just going to repost for anyone that had similar struggles -

I weighed the day before loading @ 144.

    I weighed after 1st injection, pre-loading w/ a 5 pound jump (presumably from TOM) @ 149.

After 2 days of loading, I gained an additional 8 lbs from what I assumed was dairy inflammation.

So in three days, I gained 13 pounds total. I lost 8 after 1 day of vlc eating, and the other 5 fell off with TOM.

I'm very grateful that it came off so quickly, but this round has really been crazy for me with food sensitivities. I also had to give up shrimp and beef during p2, so that helps me understand a little better why I felt so psychologically deprived while entering p3. It's been an incredibly challenging and emotional round, and I'm just ready to stabilize and feel good again.

I use this website on my mobile browser - every single time I have attempted to edit, it just deletes the whole post. First time I thought I must have accidentally hit "delete", but now I realize it happens even when I click inside of the text box.

I can just reply with my edits, but I wanted to mention that this keeps happening.

    Thanks for restoring it.

So I have a couple of new problems -

I am the same weight as yesterday, as expected, I just ate regular p3.

    But I still over ate
My suggested calories is 1370ish, I took the liberty of upping that to 1400-1600.

    I ate -

b: 1 skinless chicken thigh (cooked in oil, no skin wasn't intentional or an attempt to cut cals) 2 tbl hemp hearts

snack: 1 small avocado (really small, like slightly larger than an egg)

lunch: 6 oz fish cooked in oil, cabbage slaw w/ mayo (homemade)

snack: 2 tbl hemp hearts in coffee (4 tbl total all day)

dinner: 2 chicken thighs w/ skin cooked in oil, mushroom soup, cooked in oil

snack: I was very hungry before bed, tried fighting it but gave in and had half a stalk of celery, and another tiny avocado

I finished at 1720, what??? I definitely didn't feel stuffed at any point.
I'm so confused - I read "don't deprive yourself in p3" but then when I fast for 20 hours to do a steak day it's "Why were you so hungry a pound of steak wasn't enough?"
I thought I was so hungry on steak day because all I could drink was plain coffee (can't have dairy nuts etc)

I'm still annoyed that I'm 3 lbs over, that essentially amounts to me eating vlcd for 46 days with a 15 pound loss, and I am so disappointed in myself for the inflammation I started and ended the round with.

I have to do another correction day, I know I'm supposed to wait four days but I just can't.

I have no idea what to eat and how much and when and I'm so upset that I tried so hard yesterday and was still 400 calories over.

I just want to give up.
