gz, I didn't take weeks to ramp up my cals in p3. I was under the understanding we were to pretty quickly amp up calories to utilize the increased fuel burning capabilities hcg produced in our bodies while on p2? If it is working for you, then fine. But I amped up my calories for sure to 1800 by the end of the first week, just no sugars or starches at all. And that took diligent reading of labels. Lots of things I thought were ok, weren't when I scrutinized labels--so many different names for sugar and starches. But you are really into "keto" style eating and that may totally effect your eating choices. All I can say, the protocol has allowed me to eat more like a normal person than I used to, as far a quanitity. Before I started doing hcg, and p3 and p4 properly, I'd gain weight eating 1200 calories a day. Now, I can eat normal amount of calories daily, three mails a day, have a few small snacks and not gain. I love it.

Yup, maintenance is the thing. Determination does seem to have a shelf life, doesn't it? Or that willpower only last for so long? I'm still working on it and right now feeling quite determined about maintenance. I have 10 1/2 more days before P3, and I'm feeling strong about where I'm headed. Already feeling within a happy weight range, though another five pounds would get me into my skinny jeans without the depressing muffin top, methinks. Would love to get there this round, but I'll be satisfied wherever I land if it's where I am now or lower.

My weight jumped up 1.2 this morning from yesterday's weigh in, but that's not unusual for me in the days leading up to my period. It's unfortunate, but a reality I've really been working on rolling with. Part of it also is likely that I do have increased hunger as well, and I ate some extra protein as well as the fruit which I've generally been avoiding this round.

Which brings me back to this idea of carb sensitivity. I was reading some of Leez's very good articles about having a successful P3 and P4 and about how to avoid carb sensitivity. I'm sort of at a loss right now about best practices for this body. P3 is a no brainer, though definitely more challenging in its own right than P2; but it's P4 I'm wondering about. Will I be doing myself a disservice by trying to stick to keto (and keto the way I do it means very low carb, <20g/day, plenty of protein, and just enough added fat to stay satiated), or is it simply what works best for me? And if it's what works best in terms of keeping my weight where I want it and my A1C where I want it and my heart and kidneys and liver where I want them, is it really best if I ultimately inevitably fall off the wagon?

    Le sigh.

    The experiment continues.

But just for today, I'm feeling good about my food and very much hope there will be a drop on the scale tomorrow. If not, then the next day. Must stay the course and not get complacent about feeling in a reasonable weight range.

Miss M, definitely agree that P3 and P4 is where the real challenge begins! And I believe some of us are more sensitive to carbs than others. This year I've experimented a lot with food combinations, I wrote a little about it on threads in past, but don't know if you read--you may have even been my inspiration, or Leez--but I've found I've been able to stablize this year on my P3 and P4 by not mixing a lot of carbs with fats. If I eat carbs, I limit my fats with that meal, or even that day. And when I have tuna with mayo, I try and limit carbs, tho I have tried lately a low carb bread, and I've found I can eat some plantain chips, if I limit the amount. I still eat fruits, but don't mix them much with meals. The fruits I eat the most are pineapples and strawberries of all things. On P2, at first I wouldn't eat my fruit, but I Later decided I didn't want to become too sensitive to carbs, so I put them back into my daily protocol. I do mix fruits on my salad--the salad I love at Wendys has apples, cranberries and bleu cheese crumbles and I don't seem to gain when I eat that salad with regular dressing. I love it--prob eat it 4/5 meals a week. It has grilled chicken breast on top. It is so good. Personally, I think trying to eliminate fruit or any whole food entirely may not be the best option. Unless someone knows they really have a sensitivity to that certain food. Now processed foods are totally different issue altogether.

It is an experiment. And it is a journey, a learning process. And very individual . I have learned so much this year. Thanks to so many of you, I might add. And not getting complacent is very important. And for me, I just have to weigh everyday. Some people can get by not weighing, but I have to, so I stay focused.

AFM: Happy Friday everyone. Wow, it is a gloomy looking Friday outside. If it is going to rain, hope it is today, and not tomorrow or Sunday. We have outdoor activities planned for Saturday and Sunday, both! Have to say, I was a little worried yesterday, weight was creeping up a tiny bit this past week--had added the low carb bread to my diet (I love it). And yesterday landed at .8 above LDW. Still yesterday had 1 of the low carb hamburger buns with no sugar added peanut butter for lunch. So didn't eliminate the low carb bread totally, but didn't have any fage yogurt yesterday. This morning's weigh in dropped 1.6 lb. so am now .8 below LDW. Yay

It's super inspiring to read about how many of you have figured out long-term maintenance.

I never really know if I'm properly in ketosis or not. I started following some keto folks who recommend counting macros and generally keeping to 10-20 or less total carbs, not net. It's a little much, and discourages all fruits and most veggies. Goes against lots of common wisdom. And I'm not sure it's right for me, but I got curious about it.

I had a big 3-lb drop on the scale today. Always motivating, and this time quite surprising since yesterday I ate two apples after mostly not eating fruit at all, and definitely went over calories with extra chicken breast. Even more surprising in that TOM is due Monday. But it often gets a bit out of whack with HCG, so we'll see. And I'm not crabby or moody like usual, so who knows.

So much of all of this is a real mystery. I often can't link cause and effect at all when I'm on top of things. When I'm gaining the cause and effect is always clear, though! Anyway, one thing I suspect is that the egg sensitivity that came back with my Everlywell test over the summer is real. I had eaten some egg whites the day before the scale went up, and then the following day was the big drop. But who knows. I do think I'll be avoiding eggs for the remaining week of this round, though!

Happy weekend, everyone! I'm planning to visit BF Sunday and will stay on track despite his bummer about my diet. He's a good sport about it, and is generally on board with keto, but P2 is too much for him to wrap his head around. I don't blame him. But it's been one of the best resources I've ever encountered, so onward!

Best news of the day Lovely Losers 2021- ON TOP OF IT in October!!Lovely Losers 2021- ON TOP OF IT in October!!

Woke up to a 1lb loss. Down to 157.8.

I think Iím going to do a brief PI for 5-7 days then hop back on. In the past thatís helped me drop the last remaining lbs. I am on Dose 26 so Iíve had enough.

My thought is that I didnít skip any days to do a long round so this way I can do two more weeks after the PI. Itís worth a shot.

Whoever had the 3 lb loss. Wow!!!

Dubbles, yesterday I had whole eggs with butter for breakfast, bacon for lunch, two big coffees with HWC, plus some chocolate; and it just seemed too much, like I was back to eating mindlessly. Plus, I may be sensitive to whole eggs.

I went grocery shopping today after breakfast and missed lunch, but wasn't hungry. Now I'm enjoying a creamy coffee and baking chicken thighs (with skin). I make sure I'm getting enough protein and healthy fats, and I'm avoiding fat/carb combos. That's what I meant by "trimming". Ramping up my calories has always worked for me in P3; if I don't, I eat everything in sight and regain.

MissM, about the only way to tell is with a ketone test kit, it uses different strips but is basically the same as a diabetic's BS meter. But also your urine will smell different, especially in the morning. If you want a ketone tester, I recommend Keto Mojo.

    Hi all,
Newbie back. And I feel like I need a warning label on this post. I'm sorry!
I'm so disappointed. I have stuck like glue to this protocol and today's Day 16. I *gained* two days this week, I'm at 245.5, and I have no idea how I did it.
I've not cheated at all. I'm doing my injections. And I'm drinking my water, on average more than 100 oz a day.
And to make matters work, I feel sick. Not covid sick, but bloated. I haven't, you know, since Saturday and my apples and cabbage fiber are not cutting it. I tried Smooth Move tea, and nothing, nada, kaput.
If you have any tips to get me over this hump, I'd appreciate it.
    Thank you!

charlie, it was Miss M who had the 3 lb loss, yay for her! And I say go for the PI. My last few rounds, I just couldn't do the long extended rounds without interruption. Worked for me. But during my interruption, I basically ate P3 foods, except for right before going back to P2-I would do a long interruption--so that I could do a load (bad me), but then my heart was not really into the load, but I did it anyway as I knew I would not be eating any sugars for a loooonnggg long time.l And I would then go ahead and finish my round. Never lost a whole lot more. But seemed to stablize well. Think because I ate so many P3 foods, good practice for real, bonefide p3 protocol eating. If you don't have interruption of 14 days, then you don't have to reload. And you might lose more, up to you. But I loved using the planned interruption to continue on. After 23/24 days, I would just need the change. Just saying. Your brief planned PI, should work fine. Good luck!
