We skipped 5 years after doing every 2 years since the 80's, and those kids went from high schoolers that had to come with their folks to out of school on their own and not interested anymore. Dang.

We did every other time in Iowa, whence we came, and every other time in another location and nobody wanted to go to Iowa 5 years ago. We were scheduled to come here last year, but ... Pandemic. So, now we are trying to regroup. Doing it on the cheap this time around, no lodge, no white water rafting, no catering. There are 3 of us here in town, and we each have at least one sibling and family staying with us, so fewer in hotel. We will start with happy hour gathering on Thursday at my house --the smallest-- then nice dinner out, tho only 24 will be here that night.

Friday we go hiking and sight seeing, then fun at my sister's in the forest on her five acres, with golf frisbee, nerf wars, etc. and a Ham sandwiches and fixings for supper. A memorial for my Mom and two uncles by marriage who we lost this year, and remembering the rest we have lost. We used to have talent shows, but that was for kids to do their piano lesson recitals etc. and will probably do a game this year. Sort of Family Feud / Family Trivia/ etc. (Name Grandma Hazel's siblings: Fern, Otsie, Fay, Glen, June, Seth and Dotha! LOL. 1 point each, cuz even I couldn't win that one without checking Ancestry.com.)

Saturday, Colorado Springs is celebrating its Sesquicentennial (150th anniversary) with parade, street fest, Olympic alums signing autographs, 50 foot - TV screen to watch Tokyo Olympics (US training center here) Pioneer Museum tours, so will do that for entertainment, then either pizza or tacos at my boy (Marine) cousin's, with fire pit and karaoke. Sunday, just brunch and hotel pool and trips to the airport.

Okay, I'm gonna overshare and rant a bit. You are welcome to skip or skim.

I planned to mow yesterday, but ...rain. I could mow today, but I am so tired. So will call around tomorrow and hire someone. I have been reducing my T3 thyroid meds as demanded by endocrinologist, as my 'free T3' is too high and of course, it is only the numbers that count, not how I feel. She wanted me to cut it by 50% but when I practically fell apart in her office (I've tried that twice for different endos with horrible results) she said I could reduce gradually. I was down by 30% lowering by 5mcg every week or so, but I've reached a point where live is not worth living this tired and with all over aches and feeling blue and ... yeah. Bleh memory and brains covered in maple syrup---sloowwwwwww. Did it affect that zoom interview where I didn't get a second? Who knows?

Pain pills lately have not been just for stiffness from overdoing, but general burning aches that make me want to crawl back in bed. Some days worse than others. No wonder I have been jumping up and down with weight. I sometimes take a tiny 1/8th pain pill just to get stuff done as unlike most people, they don't make me sleepy, but rev me up. I admit I have done that once every month or two usually. It has helped this last year that has been hard on me, physically, anyway, with continuing shortness of breath from bronchitis or as some think, Covid. I've resorted to it 8 times in the last 10 days. Not good. Even 12% of an opioid is addicting and I don't need that!

I decided to go back up to 75% of my T3 dose for this week, but will probably go up to 80% for the next few days so I can function. I will also call and see if I can get a test to see where I am on the free T3 at this point. I can't see why I should keep reducing without tracking whether it is helping. I know too much T3 can cause shortness of breath, but I haven't seen any change in that both of the other times I tried this, or this time yet. Could be that I don't get short of breath while sitting on the couch staring into space, which is about the only activity I can do right now.

    Oversharing done.

    Rant still continues...

In addition, I shouldn't have been so cocky about that carrot cake. I greedily finished it off yesterday, and I'm up 2.2 over night. Ugh. I have read that things that you crave are things that you may have an allergic sensitivity to. Of course. (eye roll.) So, will be careful today. I didn't eat enough yesterday overall, so there ya go. Out of balance.

Okay. I am obviously in a baaaaad mood. Little overwhelmed. Little crabby. Little up on weight. *&%$^*@1#+*^.

    onward. I guess.

Oh Pearly...rant all you want girl!! We are here to listen and offer any support we can! I really think sometimes it is just best to listen to your body, when it's telling you to rest/get back in bed, it's best to listen. You have a lot on your plate!! Stress can really do a number on our bodies!! Take care of you first!! Try and have a great time visiting with family! You are so fortunate to have many members that are coming together!! My husbands side always had a reunion every year but last couple, with covid, etc... have been very minor with few families showing up. I am not even sure they are planning one this year but my sister n law is having a 1st annual camp out at her beautiful property up in Wa state. Hoping we can make it to that!

Sounds like you have a wonderful reunion planned and I hope you enjoy every minute of it!! And....darn carrot cake!! One of my favorite cakes for sure!! You take care of yourself!!

I wanted to pop on here again and let you all know that I just took my measurements again....took them before my 1st round in May and again today and WOW....I lost 17 inches between my chest, waist, hips, arms and thighs!! A total of 4 inches off of my belly and 3.25 off of my hips!! I could not be more happier with that!! Just thought I would share!! Trying to look at my glass half full with respects to this diet today after a discouraging weigh in!

Phoebe - Wow! 17" in 3 months?? That's pretty spectacular. Congrats.

Pearly - So frustrating when your numbers don't match how you feel. You've got a lot on your plate. Hopefully you'll feel better when the reunion gets rolling and maybe even better when it's over :-)

Dubbles - Stay where you are so I can catch up!

    Good Morning Lovelies,

Pearly, I would seriously consider a new doctor. This one is only looking at numbers, and another philosophy is to adjust to symptoms. Enjoy the family reunion! SO fun! Maybe post some fun pictures and get the great-grandkids involved in the next one's planning?

Nice to read that everyone is doing well and plugging away.

AFM: gosh I have a problem. I tried doing Trim Healthy Mama and I screwed it up by not watching my portion sizes. My bad, not the diet. Then I had that fun vacation and very fun business trip "on the company". This week it is my birthday and other family birthdays....I am sad to say that I am 8 pounds over my window! OH MY!!!!!!

I was up 12 pounds, almost fainted giggle and some of it was water/inflammation. But I fear that 8 pounds is a true picture of where I am. I am not sure what best to do. As MRs. Strong says, I need to do something before it becomes bigger. I may just do a quick round post birthdays???? Not sure how to recover from this. Any advice or ideas? please reply and vote for a good solution! Thank you! Ihonestly don't see how to get this off without another round.

The good news is: I have learned that half my plate really does need to be veggies at every meal to stay on track, and sugar is the devil I love. I also really need to drink more water every day, because the calcium supplements I now take for osteoporosis and the monthly Boniva are really constipating! So when I am done sugar has to be a weekly treat, not daily. Also, I really need to get back into the exercise/ walking mode. I have become more sedentary than ever between my bug bites, back and truly overall real total laziness ha ha.

I hope everyone has a great day. I figure it could be worse and I am lucky to have you guys and that it is not even bigger!!!

    Fondly,

POLLY, Rant all you like, and it is not oversharing, read every word, just wish I had words of wisdom to share, suggestions to help healing or to soothe--unfortunately I don't. I am clueless. I do understand feeling and hurting tho, my joints have been that way at time and Feeling bad, tired and achy just sucks and there is no other way to get around it. Unfortunately I am not knowledgeable about the tests for thryoid function and the medication for it, but I hope they will work with you, like you say-- why keep reducing your meds without tracking whether or not it is beneficial to do so or not. You are under a lot of stress right now, too--sounds like you are basically hosting the reunion and that's a pretty big event, I think. Stress can do a number on your body, plus looking for a new job. How could you not be having issues, is probably more to the point. Just hope you are able to focus during the week to enjoy the moments you have with family that come to attend the reunion and appreciate being with them. Like you said, seems like the younger generation don't seem as interested in fostering relationships with extended family as in times past. People haven't stayed in the same cities or towns as they used to, not so much--life has changed, it's much faster these days. If not for skype, and cell phones, we'd really be isolated, so guess we can be grateful for those things. I only had the one daughter, we were so close, I never thought she would grow up and have a family living from 500-1000 miles away, but that is how it has been. About being up weight wise, I don't know, seems like that is happening to a lot of us. I am too, these last couple of days. Must be somethin in the air, or in my mouth! Ha, oh well.

    Onward as you say!

RK, considering all you have had going on, vacation, fun business trip, birthday, and family birthdays, I'd say 8 lb over LDW is not as bad as it could be! It actually could be worse. So if it were me, I might try a couple of all protein days to try and get off a few lbs quickly, say 2 or 3 lbs, then limit carbs but eat protein and fats and some good carbs after that. Mindful of clean eating, no sugars at all for a while. It might take 2/3 weeks but it would come off, I think without another round. I wouldn't not eat all day, on those protein days, but just eat protein and fats maybe, see if it drops a little weight to jumpstart some loss? Drink water, green tea? Maybe Leez has some other ideas? I really think you could get the 8 lbs off without another round tho. Good luck, and don't beat yourself up, we are human, life happens and you were down with a bad back too!

    Hi all,

rk, (edited) as others have said, maybe try and eat high protein for several days to see if the weight comes down, and then, if it's too hard or the weight just isn't budging, then you can always do another round. You have the right idea and it seems you know where your mindset needs to be, which is half of the battle!! I think we all learn from this diet what we can and can't eat. You can do it!! You are doing hhcg, right? Do you have any issues getting it here in Calif? Just curious as we can no longer get injections here but I started out on hhcg back oh 10 years ago and did very well, and maintined for years! I guess that is always an option though I really like the dietdoc stuff.

Misscast, you are funny...and Dubbles, that made me lol about being nice that way!! Thanks for the chuckle!!

Well as for me, as I mentioned yesterday I was .6 above my ldw, didn't do a steak day because well, I just can't go all day without eating... I did try hard to stick to proteins however, last night my dinner came with strawberry shortcake and everyone else had dessert, I basically ate all of the whipped cream and some of the strawberries and took about 3 bites of my daughters peach cobbler, but hey... I was down .6 today so I am exaclty at 2 lbs. above my ldw today. I will just be careful today and eat mostly protein again today and hopefully the scale will keep moving in the right direction.

Intersting how many people are sensitive to cherries! I was eating them daily, wonder if that could have been the cause of my gains? They are gone now although my daughter asked me to buy more, they are so healthy for you but I will try and refrain for now.

    Happy Monday everyone!!

Rk, I would do a few steak or protein days, with several days in between, and keep to the best P3 foods you can and see if this new weight comes off. A lot of it is "fluff" not fat, that is, water retention in one form or another. Then if you still feel you are not making progress, then yes, as Phoebe said, do another short 21-day round. I tried once when I was up about 6 pounds over my window to do a 3-day round, then extended to 7-day, but only lost a few pounds and they came right back. I was trying to create a new protocol, I guess, but I'm no Dr. Simion!

Dubs, I think the stress is from being tired of being tired, plus interviewing time after time and not getting hired. There was a time that if I got the interview, I got the job EVERY TIME.

Much younger then, tho, and even though it is supposed to be illegal to judge people on their ages, I do believe it is still a factor. All three of the interviewers at that last place were in their 20's and just didn't relate to anything I said. I was talking about experience for the job that they did not have and had basically no idea what I was talking about. They were ancillary to the job, so their jobs had really nothing to do with it, anyway.

Since it was for a University, they insist you send your college transcript. My grades were fine but it is not hard to take the year you graduated, since it is on your transcript, and do the math. How do they get away with that? I see applications all the time that ask what year you graduated college. How is that legal? Grrr. If available, I usually click on 1900, the earliest available date, so it is an obvious typo.

It does not help that I used to look 15 years younger than my age and because of whatever has made me chronically ill--short of breath, etc.-- this last 18 months I now look 15 years older. Fact, but I am working on it. Losing 25 pounds has helped. At least I look youthful (not young but can't have everything) from the neck down...

I have an appointment for an ENT at the Denver hospital this afternoon. Since my health stuff (probably not Covid, even though I am working through the Covid Recovery Center at a pulmonary hospital---never diagnosed and started in a year ago in January not March) began with sinus infections, I probably should have been referred to an ENT at the very beginning. But by the time I was not recovering from the sinus stuff, it was full on Pandemic and nobody was seeing anybody unless they were bleeding out or had Covid.

Weight up another .8 today which was really a surprise. I felt like I was going to be down. Rats. All I can do is do what I do, and since it was successful since April, hope it will come back down. Like Rk, if it keeps going up, then I will have to do something more drastic! I'm only .2 above my LDW, so still in my window. Thank goodness for wiggle room!

    Onward. Trudge. Trudge. Trudge.

Always assumed it was due to lack of control, would nosh on a whole bowl of them when in fridge, but maybe it is a sensitivity to them. I assume they are high sugar as well, but I always thought it was due to lack of portion control. So I no longer purchase them. I have found, after reading one of Leez's post, that I can eat fresh pineapple and not react with gain to that, and it is very sweet. Anyone else like or try that? I just put some in a container to take to pool later today. Purchase it already cut up in produce section, so it's easy to portion out and take with me--and it's so good, as sweet as candy.
    Hi Dubbles,

Yes I have the same problem with grapes, but they're not one of my favortite fruits. I too can eat fresh pineapple and not gain, and even sometimes do two Jay Robb Protein Shakes with frozen pineapple and pineapple juice mixed in for a correction day (instead of a steak day) and easily lose around 3 lbs. the next day.
