Polly, I totally understand your frustration about age discrimination about job search. It's illegal, it's wrong, but it happens. Probably impossible to prove, however. The thing is, those that discriminate and don't hire you, or the older applicant, are often hurting themselves! When I quit work I was working on a team of about 35-40 mostly women of various ages, ranging from early 20s to mid 70's. One lady wanted to work till she was 80 as takes herself and her grandkids live with her, her husband has passed--she feels she needs to work. Anyway, she is a great worker. In fact on that team there were 4 of us, one in late 50's, two in early 60's, and the older lady I mentioned in her 70's, and we were used to train everyone. We were the go-to group for the managers for everything. The corporate higher ups knew our names as did the nurses and sometimes physicians in the hospitals or doctor's offices around the country as we were who they asked for to assist when there were problems. We made sure things got done and quickly. We were empathetic to the patients and caring and thorough and accommodating--sometimes the younger generations failed to show that empathy. And honestly, we rarely missed a day--even during bad weather, we were there. I know I never called in because of weather. I just left earlier to get to work on time. So there is something to be said for the work ethic of some older, seasoned employees, they can be your more stellar employees! Keep the faith, something will work out. Enjoy your reunion this week, it sounds like so much fun.

Phoebe, how is the puppy doing? So cute, but so much work! Like having a toddler! Good for you on all those inches lost!

rk, I saw that you posted for advice on what to do about gain during your vacation and birthdays, have you decided? It's such a personal decision. I am so dreading doing another P2, I will really have to adjust my mindset to do another round. But think I might benefit. We'll see.

mrsstrong is on planned interruptiion, I'm thinking. Hope it is somewhere cooler.

Yesterday I tried to install tapatalk so I could read and respond while out of town this coming week, but for some reason it said my devices couldn't do tapatalk? Huh? Oh well, I will be leaving early tomorrow. I will read, but guess I won't be responding. So I will be with you guys in spirit.

Gonna do a few errands, then go to pool for a few water exercises and to relax a little bit, Kelly keeps saying to rest up, we'll be going at dead heat once there--so I'll get in pool and then sit and try and finish a book I'm reading. I've already packed a few things in car I'm taking, and have dogs items packed to go to care takers, just need to finish packing my stuff. Will leave early tomorrow.

I have been inching upward, trying to let misscast join me! Thinking I haven't been eating enough calories I decided yesterday to up my game a little. Had 4 slices of sausage with my stevia maple syrup, yummy for breakfast. Then 5% fat Fage yogurt with Hersheys sugar free chocolate, whipped cream cheese, and big tablespoon of cool Whip in it--made a pretty large bowl for lunch, then celery and peanut butter for snacking, then for dinner went out on a limb and had one of Costco's Kirkland's food court hot dogs (no bun) with onion, sugar free relish, sugar free catsup, and homemade slaw for dinner, then a handful of Lily's chocolate chips with coffee for dessert. I didn't add calories up--but I think it was plenty. And this morning weighed 158.2, so down .8. Go figure. I really thought I'd gain with that hot dog. But they are beef hot dogs and very good. I generally do not like hot dogs, but I like theirs. So maybe you just have to change things up a little. I know one day last week when I ate 2 hamburgers for dinner I dropped the next day. Who knows, it is so weird. Anyway. I'd rather see a drop than an uptick. Hope everyone has a good day. Will check back later, this is my 2nd typing, I typed once and lost it and had to go back and retype. 1st edition was better, sorry. I get frustrated and really edit when that happens!

Dubbles, we will miss you! I use Tapatalk in iPhone just fine, but not sure about other systems. Have fun being super productive with daughter!

Yes, not eating enough seems to lead to imbalance and leaves extra carbs, sweets or sensitivity a path to do mischief!

I’ve upped my thyroid med by only 5mcg— tiny bit— for I think 3 nights and >>angel choir<< woke up human today. Like the sun coming out! Well, maybe not shining brightly, but much less gloomy.

Down 1.6 today so back under LDW. Huge sigh of relief there!

So much to do to get ready for my part of reunion. I hired house cleaners and lawn service but I much manual labor just to
    Get ready for them!

Second interview today for small startup, get this: weight loss clinic! Not sure what their process is, but i think I clicked a little with owner/dr on zoom interview. I can’t work for a quack so sure hope she’s legit. Website does not give away much but not sure if they are trying to be proprietary or just need a better marketing person! Lol

Not sure Ill be on much the rest of the week— enjoy the break! — but will be reading and thinking of you.

    Good morning!

Pearly I can't agree with Dubbles enough!! So much experience and wisdom as we get older and what company wouldn't benefit from that!! Each and every company that doesn't hire you, well, it's their loss!! And it wasn't meant to be. Hopefully the weight loss clinic works out!! Keep us posted for sure!!

As for me, I didn't move on the scale at all today, still exactly at 2lbs over my ldw. I honestly don't think I am getting enough to eat, I had scrambled eggs for breakfast with 2 sausage links, went to a winery and picked off of a charcuterie board (barely anything), with my son & daughter n law, had a glass of wine and did eat grapes, after that, they had a big beautiful bowl of blueberries out that everytime I passed by, I would grab some. The kids wanted this garlic sour dough round bread thing with brie cheese in the middle, only ate a tiny bit of the cheese, and after that, a burger with lettuce, tomatoe, cheese and mayo and a little bit of dark lillys chocolate bar. That was it... not sure how much that adds up to, but I feel like I typically eat more than that. I was a bit nervouse because of the glass of wine and grapes... I'm a glutten!!

Well I need to take off to take my mom to a dentist appointment. Dubbles, have fun this week and enjoy your time with your grandkids, puppy is doing great, but a handful at times! Pearly, enjoy the family reunion and glad you are feeling better this morning. Misscast, how are you doing?? Mrsstrong, hope you are having fun camping!!

    Will check in later

    Good morning lovelies!

Pearly hang in there! Looking for a job has always been hard. I know at our age it is even harder. I also have never understood this, as we do not have little ones at home and are more stable employees. Also, I am sure you look great sometimes it takes a while for things to shift and my face can look a little older and then things balance out.

Thank you everyone for the help and advice. Also, thank you for the support as I feel like I have flunked maintenance. But, learning the diet has been a process and maintenance is also a process. I think my approach is going to be two prong: first, I have all this fruit and vegetables that are not P2 in my refrigerator. I also have a ton of eggs. So I’m going to figure out what to do with them and try some of the high proteins/steak/ correction days and see if anything budges while I use up this food. I also need to survive the food celebration events. If my weight does not go down and the scale does not budge or, goes down and then goes back up the next day then it will be a short 23 day round for me!

Meanwhile, to share what I have learned: trim healthy mama did not work for me. I think that’s the kind of thing that works great if you just had a baby and are about 30 to 35 years younger than me. The concept of separating fats and carbs may be a good one though but I still need to really watch my calories in portion sizes until I get the hang of things in maintenance.

The other good news is I am not beating myself up about this. It’s a steep learning curve for me to stay at the weight I want to be. But better to be 10 pounds over from where I want to be than be back up to the 30 to 40 pound over range like I used to get to. Usually at this point I would be so upset with myself and so disappointed I would gain another 8 pounds just over that! So I am going to capitalize on whatever small victories I can.

I read this in the newspaper today and I’m hesitant whether I should even post it, but I thought it is an interesting food for thought:

Every time you eat or drink you are either feeding disease or fighting it.” by Nutrition and Lifestyle Coach Heather Morgan

An interesting concept. What do you think? Maybe that will help me shift my mindset toward fighting disease and being healthy. Have a wonderful day!
    Fondly,

LOVELY LOSERS 2021 - You're HOTTER than JULY!!!

    Well… who knew???

I went to this job interview thinking I’m just going , good practice, not sure it’s gonna turn out to be anything. It was a second interview this time in person instead of on zoom. Spent an hour talking to the brand new COO. And he started talking about how if I came on Tuesday the HR people could get me on board as far as paperwork.

I said, wait a minute are you on boarding me? And he said yes can you start on Tuesday!? I had to laugh and say “That is the most low-key offer I have ever had! But yes, I would be delighted to come to work for you.”

Unbelievably, its a weight loss Dr. She has a couple of locations that were doing well before the pandemic and now they are trying to gear back up again and would like to go national in the next few years. It seems to be nutrition, coaching, encouragement and … expensive. Once through the program they seem to eat like P3 with a few P4 days now and then.I can get that. The office is eight minutes from my house and they all bring their dogs when they want to, so no problem bringing mine if Penny needs me to.

Poor me, I’ll probably have to fly to Salt Lake City in a couple weeks to see their other location. I used to say if they don’t send me to a seminar in the first week it’s not the right job for me because that seems to always happen. Lol.

So what a difference a day makes! Thank goodness my T3 meds kicked in and I didn’t drag in there like I’d lost my teddy bear.

Weight loss is kinda my hobby so might as well!

LOVELY LOSERS 2021 - You're HOTTER than JULY!!!

Thanks rk and Kar. It is a big relief!

Rk, have you tried a correction day or two? How is it going? Smart of you to take a positive and long term view. For sure, this is not just a marathon, it’s kind of an Ironman! Run, swim, bike… with an obstacle course thrown in and occasionally someone is shooting at you!

Im sitting here waiting for lawn service and house cleaners to show up. If they don’t— I am
    So screwed!

I have plenty to do without actual cleaning and mowing. Food, drink, for happy hour here, hosing down lawn chairs, getting bedrooms ready for overnight nieces and their dogs, a powerpoint for memorial service, plus I still have to come up with a trivia game. Yeah, I coulda done without that string of tired days.

Woke up today down 2.6 to 127.4. Just ate what I always eat. Just finally got rid of inflammation.

Whoo hoo. Enjoy while it lasts!!!!

PEARLY....YAY!!! Congratulations on the job!! Sounds like a perfect fit for you!! I am so so happy for you!! And WOWZA, nice drop!! Congrats again!! Happy Day!!

As for me, I think I have some of that inflamation happening for sure this morning. I only lost .1 on the scale, but thankful I am now below that 2 pound mark!! But...I put on Retinol serum and cream last night before bed, woke up at 2 o'clock in the morning and my neck was so itchy...got up, my face and under eyes were red and swollen...and my neck was super red, like a sunburn. I washed my face and went back to bed... this morning...boy do I have bags and my face and neck look really burned!! I have used this product before and honestly, now that I am thinking about it i have woken up with bags under my eyes that I didn't know why...I'm thinking that is the culprit, maybe I am allergic or something, just took tumeric and ibeprofen and have been icing my neck! Jeeezzz...I'm sure my skin will be peeling in the next few days!! Well, I tossed the stuff out so won't be ever using that again!! Anyhow, as Pearly says....ONWARD! Going out to dinner tonight with the kiddos again, they leave Friday, so just a couple more days here. I will make sure to look at the menu and eat as best I can. I kind of want to try some seafood but am a bit nervous that I may react to it, so probably stick with chicken or steak.

    Happy hump day!!

Wow, you guys have been busy this week! Me too, which is why I haven't been on. Plus I have nothing to report. Have been hovering around 161 all week, up a LB one day, back down the next. I'm going to have to break down and do a laxative tonight because food is coming in every day but nothing much coming out. Sorry, TMI.

I'm stopping for the weekend as I have family coming to town and we have a nephew's graduation party to attend. No idea why my brother is having his son's HS grad party at the end of July but try finding a graduation card in the store now. Of course I have annoyingly organized siblings who are like, Oh I bought mine in June.

So... DUBBLES and PHOEBE - you better keep stabilizing so I can catch up for realz! Although Phoebe is way below my goal weight.

PEARLY - I hear you on the transcript. I taught at a University for 25 years before relocating and, applying for a teaching gig now, well, your transcript is a dead giveaway. I too feel the ageism in interviewing, yes it's illegal, but how could it be enforced in hiring? There's always another reason they can use for not taking you. But big congrats on the job!

RK - Love that quote and really believe it.

KAR - seems that sublingual RX is working well for you. Curious about it, as I am needle phobic so injections are not an option. Although I'm doing fine on pellets.

Whew, one day down, 2 to go. Gathering at my house went fine. Then we went over to the cute steakhouse and just about everyone split a steak w a spouse or kid but restaurant was absolutely fine with that.

Today, most are hiking w my boy cousin (54-year old boy) or as I call it, a forced march. The rest of us will drive thru Garden of the Gods park and everyone will eat lunch with their group then head to my sisters for the rest of the day— with a little down time in between.

I’m three days in the 127’s. Maybe it will stick. I bounced down here once before but bounced back up again so didn’t take it seriously, but I had only 1 cocktail, 4-5 ounces of steak and half a baked sweet potato plus small salad for supper so I’m not “empty” and not dehydrated, so …. Maybe?

    Onward!!

Hi Misscast!! I think you have me mixed up with Dubbles, she is at a lower weight then I am, I do believe. Today, I am actually 2.8#'s above my LDW... 161.3 so you have already caught up to me!~ I wish I could go back on P2 sooner then later but unfortunatly,I won't be able to until I get back into town on the 7th of August. I really screwed things up not having enough hcg to get me through this round!! And now can't even get anymore of the injections that I really like from Diet Doc. I am just so PO'd about that!! UGGG!!
