Good morning, lovelies and happy "whoosh day" Friday!
    I'm down 1.2 from yesterday.
In celebration, below is Christy's immortal fat whoosh graphic:

So this amuses me... I was thinking I'm mid-way through week 3... I started planning my next grocery list and realized today is actually VLCD 27. So I'm in week 4. For me, P2 never seems to "fly by," so to speak.

Kar! Week 4! No, P2 never whizzes by me. I can't get anythihg else done, pretty much. I sits and waits til it's time to weigh in again...!
Thank you for the Woosh graphic. It always helps.

Jess, so glad you are doing well in P3. The better the P3, the easier P4.

I'm a little tired and sore today. I'm getting to be an old lady. I shoveled sidewalks, porches and driveway yesterday, and had to take an hour nap. Then it was time for a swimming lesson. Onlly a half hour, but between the two, I'm moving a bit slowly today. Also messed up my garage door and had to open it manually to get my car out and that left me with a small twinge in my back.

All that to say, start of Week 2 when I traditionally start playing Bounce-A-Pound (up and down in the same pound) I'm up .4. I ate PERFECTLY, now that I have veggies steamed ahead, soup in the freezer and plenty of eggs to poach for breakfast. Deciding what to eat is pretty easy and not hard to stick to. But! Dang. I know a woosh will come once I get the little bit of inflamation down. I'll hit the tumeric tea today.

My goal is to be able to swim laps at the Y. My Medicare advantage insurance pays for my Y membership and three years ago I signed up with the same goal. Six weeks before the first Shut Down. So, here I am three years later trying again. I decided to take some lessons to strengthen my swimming skills, as I took lessons when I was 8 and did a Red Cross certification in college, but have never been a strong swimmer. I'm learning technique no one ever taught me before! I am not strong enough to do actual laps yet but am contemplating using a kickboard to keep me in the water longer. It's too much work to go all the way there, swim for 5 minutes and come home again!

I've been short a litte on protein most days lately, so trying 2 eggs instead of 1 this a.m. I'd rather do that than try to add late at night.

    Onward!

I'm feeling a bit deflated. I had a spectacular start to a short round, losing 8.7lbs in my first week, unheard of for me.I only have about 12 to lose, so I was a little worried that I would end up losing too much. Ha. I should have known. I have spent the last 11 days going up and down the same pound (as Pearly says), and ended the week with a 0.8 gain! I'm seasoned enough to know that this is the way it can go, and Kar's Whoosh posting was helpful, but it's also a bit demoralizing. I'm now second guessing everything I do.

When I stop feeling sorry for myself for a minute I remember that I got back into my exercise routine at the start of week 2(at a modified level) after not doing much of anything for the previous 5 weeks over Christmas (during which I had a stomach virus followed by Covid, all in a B&B with 6 people and 3 babies, who were all also sick. No one slept). I did a half-workout 4 days in a row, which was a pretty hard, but I have always continued exercise during my rounds, and it's always a bit hard so I didn't think anything of it. My muscles were a little tight and sore, but nothing too bad. Oh yes, then I remember that I've had a cold all week. Nothing too awful, but blowing my nose like crazy. So, I guess there is plenty of inflammation.

What I would like to know is if inflammation just camouflages the losses (ie fluid retention) or does it actually prevent you from losing (ie hanging onto fat)?

I'm planning on doing a slightly extended week 3, 9 days (23-day round). Hopefully I get a good Whoosh and lose the remaining 4lbs I was hoping for (and normally get).

Here's hoping everyone else's round is progressing better than mine! And thank you for letting me Whine!!!

MO! ABSOLUTELY ( I think, myself) that inflammation camouflages losses. So, in Week 2, the Woosh graphic is happening, which slows losses so much that week, plus inflammation in your muscles as well. Since I am experiencing the exact same thing today, I admit I may be "That's my story and I'm sticking to it" ing, but I also think it is true! It makes sense. You and I just lost a TON of fat in about a week. Those fat cells gotta be hurting and holding on to water as much as possible. Then, the muscles are also saying, I don't remember hurting like this, I will comfort myself for a while until she quits doing that! You are not eating and burning starchy carbs for your body to burn immediately, so the muscles have to work harder. Your bod is still working on learning (or since we have done this before!) RE-learning to get energy from burning FAT, not starches and not MUSCLE.

So, hang in. It is all part of the process. And maybe take the exercise down a step. You have done it before during rounds, but not after the whole world attacked your body and it is still healing from all of that. And a cold! My goodness. My first round, I had a cold at the end of week 3 and had a stall for 13 days, until it was over. I'd like to say I lost 6-7 pounds overnight to make up for not losing at all for that long, but I did not. I did have nice losses the rest of that week, tho. Then I started my normal losses of down a little, up a little, down a little more on the third day. I usually have a net loss when that starts, but I should weigh every third day to keep the stress level down!

As I indicated. Bounce-A-Pound day. I'm down the .4 I was up yesterday, so that's something. Disappointing, cus, sorry TMI, I peed my BRAINS out all day long yesterday, so expected better.Ok.I'm over it. I ate perfectly yesterday. I will do so again today. And tomorrow will be intersting!!

    Onward.

All that whining did some good! I FINALLY dropped...1.4lbs. Thank goodness. I'm so relieved. It will be interesting to see if I continue to drop or if I plateau. I have had some good losses in the past during week 3, but I've never had such a long stall so fingers crossed.

Thank you Pearly and Kara for your support. It's amazing how important it is to be told things that you actually know perfectly well yourself!

I would like to start taking a fish oil supplement with EPA and DHA. There is a dizzying array of products available. I'm wondering if anyone has any brand recommendations. Leez, do you have any ideas?

    Good morning everybuddy!

No need to reply to me today. I am just venting.

I am trying hard not to be discouraged today. My scale says I gained FOUR POUNDS OVERNIGHT. I did not even eat 4 pounds of food yesterday. I was PERFECTLY ON PROTOCOL yesterday. I am not stiff or sore. I feel pretty darned good and had a good night's sleep. I weighed at the usual time. I am not, to my knowledge, constipated, and would know if I was FOUR POUNDS behind schedule.

My fingers, hands and ankles etc. are not swollen. I did not skip a dose. I didn't have any more salt than usual. I did not forget and drink a cup of coffee or a beer before weighing. I don't think I could drink 4 pounds of coffee.

I changed the batteries in the scale. I jumped up and down on it 'til it said ERROR!! Twice. A couple of times it gave me 3.8 pounds, proably to make me stop jumping on it, but went back to 4 pounds the next three times.

This is just weird. Has anyonoe reported a gravitation shift in the Earth's core overnight?

I do not believe it. I was just admiring how my tum is getting flatter ---ok, at my age, it is still saggier than it used to be, but it is NOT poofing out as much---and feeling pretty good about reaching my last goal by Friday when I run out of doses. I just had TWO POUNDS TO GO YESTERDAY.

I put on a pair of jeans that are not my regular size, but the ones that are one size up (I've been wearing my two size up black jeans since Late November) and they fit. Not just fine, but pretty great. Room to pull out the waist with my thumbs, no camel toe, they FIT. They are in my regular rotation of jeans but are the "slack ones." You know, the going to Costco and the grocery store ones, not Casual Friday work ones.

    ARGHHHHH.. So frustrating.

All I can do is all I can do. I guess I have to lose six pounds now, so I will be taking a PI after Friday. I'll transition over the weekend and then do P2 until my next batch arrives. I need to order syringes, too.

ONWARD....even if I just went BACKWARDS today.
    P

PS: I cooked all afternoon yesterday, baked chicken breasts to put in chicken soup, cooked the soup, browned ground beef and ground turkey to add to my remaining beef soup as I did not have enough on hand last week and had to freeze three servings with just veggies and no protein. I just portioned them into baggies to add to the soups when I am ready to eat them. The chicken soup made 8 servings. In P3 I can top with a little sour cream.

I had half a pound each of the beef and turkey left over so I made up a P3 meatloaf recipe and used riced cauliflower instead of bread crumbs, an a little salsa instead of ketchup. Some lemon juice and an egg. I have a Suzanne Sommers recipe that calls for chopped onions instead of bread crumbs, so I pulled from that. I used up my onion to make soup so had to inprovise. I froze it in portions after baking. It will need a little salsa on top of it, but took a tiny taste and meh, it's meatloaf. Can't taste the cauliflower at all.

I was so danged good yesterday!

    Get thee behind me Satan!

Dang, Pearly. I'll share your anger. That evil, stoooopid scale...
Water weighs more than fat. Maybe you had a LOT of fat cells refill overnight. That sounds good. I'm going to cling to that theory.
    HANG IN THERE!!!!
