Thread: Lovely Losers - Astounding! Astonishing! Awe-Inspiring in April

I tend to distract myself from the pain with tv or books, and that's when I also feed my pain (in the past). That is a hard habit to break; it's so deeply ingrained now. However, I am also trying to keep the snacks less accessible.

I cook for my family too. I tend to cook in big batches... my adult son and hubby tend to prefer hot lunches at work, so we pack up lots of leftovers, and I only have to cook 3 or 4 nights/week. Our daughter usually cooks 1 night per week, but it's usually Thai, so I can't eat it (high oxalate spices). For phase 2, I try to base at least some of their meals off mine, but it hasn't happened that way this round. They have been eating pork, and me chicken. For vegees, I had some in my soup, and other times, I am just nibbling on small cucumbers. I buy the dozen organic gala apples and the small cucumbers at Costco, and eat them daily until gone. I also like romaine just by itself, so I can snack on that in the car or at home. Once a week I make a big salad, and do my vegees first. Then I pull some out for me and add lots more variety for them. Then we have "hcg grilled chicken" sliced on top the first night, and they can have salad as a side for a night or two afterwards. My food is pretty boring because of my oxalate restrictions, but less choices makes it easier for me...
You've done an amazing job working meals together in P2! I do it well in P3, but in P2 I make my meals separate though they do eat more chicken with me. Sometimes they want chicken in P3, and I don't eat it then at all to avoid getting weary of it since I have done so many P2s and more to come! Hee!

Linderlou, I hope your husband is recovering well. That was so interesting to hear even DH doesn't know you're doing this diet. I was still in the mindset that this diet was too restrictive/possibly dangerous when I began and wanted DH to know I was doing it, but I'm used to telling him which diet (there were many!) I'm doing just so he knows why my eating has changed. The other day he made steaks and had forgotten I was in P2 again. It smelled delicious! Thank you for sharing the comment about P3 starting all over again if you need to do a steak day. That makes sense. I haven't been able to get into P4 at all without gaining weight. I may just need an extra long P3 and be more careful about which foods to add in P4. I'm not giving up on that.

Pearly, I hope your conference goes great!

Has anyone read THE FAST DIET? I only read a synopsis and watched a little news video. You eat normally 5 days a week, and for 2 days a week you "fast" by eating 500 calories! The meals looked a lot like P2 days. I don't know if that is a good idea, but I thought it might be worth a read in case it helps my weight stay stable when I get to goal.

207 today! I wish all of you lovelies a beautiful day!

Coffeegirl, It can be really hard mentally as well as low level hunger that can make it feel like a struggle. Try to think of a way that makes it a positive for you, for example, physically think of it like a detox/healing for your body. Mentally think of it as a challenge to yourself or a game or whatever helps motivate you. Do you have a goal outfit in your closet? I have a pair of jeans I want to fit into. Think ahead to the reward or find out what motivates you and try to turn it into a reachable goal. I have an end goal but also know I generally lose 15 lbs. a month on this diet; so I can get excited about that. I have goals for upping my exercise between rounds, and that really makes me get excited. Coming here for support is really helpful and finding new positive healthy distractions can be a big help too. I like to find little ways to pamper myself too without spending a lot of money. I wear a necklace that's special to me and wear my fun colors of lipstick, scented lotions, light a candle, listen to great music...Think about what you have access to that encourages you to keep going and makes you feel a little pampered.

Juliinga, I second the idea that this alone time really helps with the P2 part of the diet. Be careful to not feel too isolated. If you can spend time with people without being around food, it will be good. If you like, sit in a bookstore with a glass of water/tea or somewhere outside when weather is nice so you're not alone. If you feel alone, go for a swim or a walk or something that gets you out around people without having to be around food. If it helps, consider planning a social activity for P3 so you have something to look forward to. Come here for encouragement and you will find it among all of the lovelies!

I read many, many posts about how people reacted negatively when folks mention hcg and decided I didn't need negativity to complicate things further. After reading many, many other posts on this forum, I decided it had to be safe. DH was very concerned about my health when I started my journey a little over a year ago. I didn't want to worry him further, so I just did it. I told him I was going to try a new "diet" that some of my friends (you guys) were having great success with. He has seen me do so many diets over the years, he was like, whatever. I told him he was going to be on his own for meals for the next 3/4 weeks because I had a very limited amount and type of food I could eat and I didn't want to be tempted by cooking something different for him. He was accepting of that and when he had seen me drop 25 lbs, and start wearing smaller sizes in clothes, all he said was "I don't know what you're doing, but it's working, so just keep doing it". I took that as meaning he trusted me to do what's best for me Over last summer, I did an extended P3/P4 and started eating more "normally". We socialize a lot during summer, so it was easy-peasy and our friends were amazed at how much I could eat and not gain. (Me too!) Anyway, my health is MUCH better being (now) 50 lbs lighter.

The funny thing is that he gets so confused when I go from P2 to P3 and can "suddenly" eat chicken with skin, eggs, bacon, etc. again. Just a little while ago he quizzed me about the chicken thighs with skin I had pulled out for dinner tonight. Did you know the chicken you took out has skin and bones? Yes, it's OK, that's what I'm eating this week I do envy those of you who can share your hcg experience with your SO. I would love the support, but since he gave me permission to keep doing what I am doing, I'm just going to continue on that path. So glad I have the support of this forum. It makes all the difference in the world!

Beachy - Congrats on 207! (Missed that in my first read...)

On the Fast Diet - I have not heard of that one. BUT, I wanted to caution you on some of the "diet plans" out there. They are all pretty much based on the calories-in/calories-out nonsense. After many, many years of trying to lose that way, I know it doesn't work for most people, at least not for most of the people I know. The thing I LOVE about hcg is that it mobilizes the abnormal fat and spares your good fat and muscle. All of the other diets I have tried and my friends have tried do the opposite and you end up with a haggard face and losing muscle. I'm not sure what strategy I will use when I get to goal other than to try to stay within my window and if the "creep" on the scale gets above that, probably do another round. I'm hoping that won't happen, but it is an option if it does...

Hi everyone! I made it through the weekend without cheating and gaining a million pounds, like I usually do! Lol! I’m ready to lose more weight this week! I’m on day 10 and I’ve lost 12.2 pounds. I’m sure this week will slow way down! Thank you all for being so great and for all the encouragement!!

Today was my long day so I couldn't check in this morning. The scale was up 2 pounds again this morning, but after the almost 4 pound drop of fluids the day before, I wasn't too surprised. My shoes were tight again, but not as bad, and today I just drank a lot of my liquid mineral drops in water and was glad my bladder slowed down for the drive from the nanny job to the janitorial! By the time I got home, I was down 2.6 from this morning, and I ate all my food portions today, plus drank a gallon of water! Can't wait to see what the scale says in the morning, because I usually lose about a pound overnight...

The little girl was sick again, so I had both children today instead of just the baby. That means I will probably get sick AGAIN! URGH! I may have to quit nannying for this family as my immune system isn't strong enough to deal with the constant illness. I really feel for the parents dealing with two chronically ill children! They are moving at the end of May, and so once I see where they buy their new home, that may be a good time to make the break. Their current location is very convenient to my hubby's work, allowing us to commute together.

Tomorrow I have to finally sit myself down with our records and get started on our taxes. We still don't have one document we need in order to file, so we'll probably have to file an extension. However, I need to figure out how much I owe, and get it mailed in...Plus, I need to do my quarterly taxes for this year. I am SO behind!! So, it's taxes and housework until I go back to work on Friday!

My fluid situation is still very "fluid". I was down 3.6 two days ago, up 2 yesterday, down 4.6 today. Prepared for a gain tomorrow?

VLCD 8, so after a full week on the low calorie diet, I have lost 9 pounds, including 4.4lbs loading weight. This is my slowest start ever, but I went up 4 more pounds the first 2 days after starting the VLCD. Some of it was probably a delayed reaction to the big dinner out, and some of it fluid weight.

I will do my measurements later today. Didn't have a good night's sleep, so I am heading back to bed for a bit before tackling more paperwork for taxes...

    Good Morning Lovelies,

Roni: Hang in there! Sometimes I have a slow start but things really get cooking! I know you will have a great round. I remember little kids are always getting sick! Maybe you can charge more when you have two kids instead of one?

I am down .4 pounds. Better than a gain! But I am still 2 pounds over where I was on Friday. DH wants me to go with him on a business trip to Vegas next week. I feel very conflicted about this since he did go with me on my business trip. I probably could go, and see my clients too but it is just so hard to remain P2 on the road... although I walk so much and when I am there and get Time in for exercise...So I am not sure what to do.

Does anyone have any tips for eating P2 in restaurants? I am just sick of shrimp ****tails, and plain green salads. I always don’t trust their protein! Somehow I suspect added oil or fat. So if anyone has any ideas I would sure appreciate it!

    Have a wonderful day!

For P2 on the road, my go to meals are:

    1) steamed lobster tail w/old bay seasoning and lemon with a dry salad
    2) garden salad(lettuce, tomato) topped with grilled fish or chicken breast prepared with no oil - ask them to sear it with lemon juice or water instead.

Never have any issues with these.
