day 8 vlcd so one week later i’m at 154.2 so down 3.4 and losses much less than in the past so thinking nasal hhcg somehow culprit. i had the liquid hhcg but i remember caffeine affected my heart rate. so…second day on injections as i go thru week 2. the hhcg did help my appetite without a doubt but scales zigzagged each day. my real problem with hcg is mixing with the large syringe. my hands are arthritic and somehow the large needle is hard to manage in the mix and makes a mess.

Good Monday morning - I got too ambitious, wanted to sleep in my bed last night, but I tossed and turned. My ankle still needs to be supported and elevated, so back to the couch. But I am back to my knitting, anxious to finish a sweater I've been working on.

    P4 Month 3

Thank you, Jayk. I WAS so tired, and one good night's sleep didn't cut it. Rose will testify, I'm sure, that with a little age, it takes a little longer to bounce back. TWO night's sleep and getting a lot of housework done so I dont have to look at dishes in the sink and crumbs on the floor helps!

Rose I hear you. My hands are only slightly more fumble-y than they used to be but it is very annoying. I use tongs and such and keep small pliers in my kitchen drawer to hold things. Even an elaborate Walter Mitty contraption if it helps. Sometimes ya even have to ask someone else to do it. That's hard as we all kind of keep hcg close and private.

Changed the batteries in TESS and I must have a horrible disease. Today she says I am down 3.8. Not as unbelievable as down 11 pounds overnight but pretty weird. Has she gone insane? Was she wrong all this time before? None of it makes sense. I am now at ... afraid to say it... 120.4 . I ended my round at 128.

My logical brain says I am eating a little TOO keto like and too small of portions at the same time. I have a photo in my phone of TESS at 120 from about 5 years ago and it lasted about as long as it took to take the picture.

I have an annual check up in a few weeks. I have no doubt I will be back up in my window by then! P

I think I'd go with...TESS was wrong all along for now. Especially if you don't feel any different. Pretty sure you can tell if your body actually does have a 4 pound drop regardless of what the scale says.

I have all kinds of contraptions that help me grab things. I too noticed my mixing sequence was a lot clumsier this time. I dropped the mixing syringe a couple of times when preparing for my recent round. That surprised me. Grip doesn't seem to be quite as dependable now.

Had lunch with a friend yesterday at a previous favorite oriental restaurant. I ordered some Szechwan eggplant, a favorite for me and a splurge because of the sauce. I only ate a couple bites. It was not good, so I filled up on a rather limp Vietnamese shrimp springroll, and afterwards stomach did not feel well for a while. That will be my last visit there. Seriously...they got every. single. thing. about the order wrong, included there being no heat in a dish that is meant to be very spicy-hot. Sad to see a restaurant that was once excellent decline to that level. I have been eating so clean, the shock of substandard oils and whatever else was in that sauce may have just been a shock to my system.

Bone broth is my lifesaver at work too, Jayk!

I don't think the saltiness has bothered my weight loss overall but since I often drink broth and there is a normal fluctuation when using salt, I found it easier to let it be part of the game. It can make you gain and lose in P3 and beyond too, not just in P2. I also want my body to take care of its homeostasis. I don't want to force fluid loss and if my body retains some fluid, there may be a good reason.

    Pearly, get a new scale!

I hope it is a smooth transition, Rose. I wonder if maybe your body is just different now than before? Things change as we age and how we respond to hcg certainly does as well I have found.

Happy knitting, gz! I love knitting too. Healing vibes sent to your ankle!

I hate that when you go out and expect something you are used to and it's not. Hope your system settles today, Leez. I went to a place the weekend before P2 and I got diarrhea afterwards. I think it was one of the scallops because the texture of it was different. It didn't taste bad though but it caught my attention. Not sure I'll go back even though the food was amazing.

Doing well here. Nothing to report.

Hi all. I survived my night shift. I could not sleep for the life of me last night, but this morning I went to bed and slept 6 hours. The best sleep I have had in awhile. We got my husband up and dressed, fed him breakfast and I went to bed. I think with him being sick and disabled this works out good as he is sleeping anyway during that time I was at work. My son in law was up in the day and now he will sleep. He is working night shift too.
I started to feel a sore throat last night and woke up now with a cold. Time for my David's 911 Cold tea and see if that helps. I took my vitamin D the other day and C. I take 50,000 IU at a time for the D, but I do it weekly or thereabouts.

Glad your feeling more refreshed Pearly. I know it does take a bit longer now these days to catch up for sure. I as well have Arthritis. I have Osteoarthritis in my one knee, and my hands have had for years. Unfortunately Arthritis can hit at any age. I wonder if Tess is right or not, but glad your staying within your window.

Rose, I hope the mixing goes okay for you and you continue the losses. It's no fun having arthritis or other issues you need to worry about.

Leez, I know it is disappointing when a restaurant fails to meet its standards when it used to be good. Not good at all especially when your looking forward to it. I wouldn't go back either.

Good luck on your Sweater gz9gjg. I haven't knitted or crocheted in years. But it's a good pastime for sure and productive. Sorry the bed didn't work out yet. Worth a try haha.

mrsstrong, same for me I don't think the sodium in the Bone broth has bothered me either. Glad your doing well.

Cold here for a few more days, then supposed to start warming up again.

Jayk, I hope you are taking Vit K with your Vit D3 - it helps assure you don't build up calcium deposits in your circ system. When I feel a cold coming on, I take a hot bath and wear heavier clothes to bed: simulates getting a fever to kill off the virus.

I ended up buying a new scale when this happened to me a few months ago, turns out the digital reads were off kilter and I wasn't the one going crazy!

P3 Day 9: Down 4 lbs to 160 from 2 days past last injection! And Holding!

Hey Everyone! I just spent an hour catching up on the thread. We got back 9 days ago, but I haven't had time to myself yet.

The trek was AMAZING. I'm so stinking proud of my kids. I'll cut and paste a bit of the trip summary from our family email thread. So many of our local friends are excited to try it now that we tested the process. It wasn't as difficult or technical as we expected it to be, just long days and keeping at keeping at it.

    ***

Saturday: we packed the pumpkin and drove up 3 hours north of Oslo to start a 50+ km ski trip from an 1880s farmhouse adjacent to the planned route.

Woke up at 10:00 on Sunday to horses actively nudging our window. They loved the apples and kisses from the kids while we made a dozen eggs for breakfast and loaded the polk.

At 12:30, we were off. And only 2 hours behind schedule. Typisk!

On the first two days of skiing, we arrived at our final turns which should have been "only one more km downhill!"

    Blocked.
    What?

Windy conditions and drifts had closed our primary, planned winter routes.

Cue the map + backup trails.

That first day of rolling, groomed terrain had been a gorgeous, steady trek through the woods; the "good kind" of challenging with pack and boot adjustments every few km. Lots of giggling and silly pictures.

That night's safest detour was 4km more.
    Also through the woods.
    Luckily out of the wind.
    But in waist deep powder.

    Cue switching to snowshoes.

No babe, I don't want my headlamp.
Yes, I know we packed 4.
    Wait, is this a road?
    "I need to pee!"
"If we can't find the cabin, do we get to build a snow fort?"
    🫠

The second night's shortest detour was a 7km box, uphill, around the main trail.
    Well past dinner time.
When the sun was already down.

    "We got this Mommy!"
    "...Hands ok guys?"
"My toes are kind of cold, but my fingers are warm!"
"This means we get an extra Kvikk Lunsj, right?"

Can I just say how gorgeous the stars were when we realized we didn't have to talk one more 5K into the kids, even while they were tired and hungry?

Following nothing but twigs and a compass in sub freezing conditions?
    Under a nearly full moon?
    Sure, have more chocolate sweetie.

    Those stars.
    They were something else.

It's hard to describe the ephemeral sense of bright blue moonlight guiding your kids across the foothills of Jotunheimen: a flat valley of sparkling icy snow in the middle of a mountain range that's on top of a plateau....

    ***

Basically, every DNT cabin we got to was an oasis of rest for a bit. One of them felt like walking into the photo shoot for an LLBEAN catalogue, it was so functional and clean and cozy. In the legit middle of nowhere. Oskampen if you want to click through, might need to use google translate though. Here's the history of the region if anyone gets sick of knitting and is still couch bound, gz9gjg (Hope you are getting some relief from the pain and itch of healing, that's always such a PITA)

And 20 K per day FELT SO GOOD TO BE ABLE TO DO. My body was so happy. We went at kid pace, they led the way. They want to bring friends next time. I want to do it faster next time and go further.

When I stepped on the scale WITH MY PACK ON, I was at 200 lbs. My pack had the kids dry wool backup layers, my backup layers, all the "still" jackets for when we stopped moving, 5 lb emergency kit that we've only needed twice in 25 years, but it saved a life, so it always comes with us (Epi Pen, Tourniquet, saline injections, morphine, heavy single does antibiotics, splints, etc.) the day's lunch, and a thermos of tea. about 35-40 lbs per day, depending on dampness of clothing.

I only tweaked my knee once when I fell in chest-deep powder because my husband thought it would be funny to pass me with the Polk, and then I had to avoid hitting a tree as the kids followed him. Once I caught back up to them, he got to carry my pack in the polk too, so the joke was really on him, haha.

I did injections daily until the second to last day, but upped the calories to 750 on the two harder days. Surprisingly, I wasn't hungry but nearly "Bonked" on the third day because I had to really push up the last hill. I woke up on Wednesday morning with ab muscle definition I haven't seen since before my son was born.

And my body has just kept getting better healthier and stronger.

The morning after we got home, three days after the last injection, I weighed 164. I am using that as my LIW.

    25 lbs in 44 days.

For the first week of P3, I was consistent about following the same foods from OP, just mixing them together and increasing the volume. I measured protein more than I measured veggies and fruit. I continued to consistently lose 1/2 lb per day. It was crazy. That has NEVER happened to me before.

Since starting P3 the day we drove home from Espedalen, I have been going for 15-20K per day on my classic skis since we got back to Oslo. Mostly flat with some slight up and down on the tracks near Holmenkollen. I've been wearing my compression body suit under my windpants and jacket. Somehow, my muscle recovery time is so much better than it was before I gained all that weight. I've noticed that my skin is catching up more quickly from what has grown to a 28.9 lb weight loss in under 60 days.

(If anyone lurking wants to try them, just email Dawn at Nouvelle. She can customize lengths on sleeves and inseam. She's absolutely lovely and an amazing seamstress. Her designs are super comfortable and making a huge difference for this random internet stranger.)

I've also fallen asleep in my compression leggings twice, not on purpose, and both of those mornings there was a .75 lb loss on the scale that has stayed off. I don't know if there's a correlation, but it's worth noting as it might help someone else who is trying to flush water or those squeeze those fat cells into oblivion after they fill back with water...

The past three days I've been intentionally more lenient with myself, sipping on two glasses of wine with dinner last night, and enjoying the kids' favorite pasta with them (curly Italian-flour noodles with a vitamix sauce of equal parts roasted garlic, cream and good parmesan. Basil and tomatoes on top. It's simple and perfect.) and a salad with avocado, lemon, cranberries and olive oil. I also crushed about 40g of 90% dark chocolate, but I tracked it as 50g so I'm not cheating myself, haha. I realized I'd only had about 105g of protein during the day, so I ate 200g of shrimp after dinner. (I'm trying to get at least 120g per day, goal is 130g.)

Scale was "up" to 160.5 this morning.
Still 3.5 lbs under LIW at P3D9.

Goal is to be consuming 125g protein per day in under 1250 calories by P3D14
Then, bumping up to 1500 calories by P3D21 with adding complex carbs and healthy fats.
I think I'll level out at about 1800 calories a day depending on workout intensity.

Goal weight is still 150 lbs. 10 to go.

I think I can get there without doing another round if I can keep up with distance skiing for the rest of the season. The toughest part for me was finally getting past that 165 lb plateau, as I was at that weight for such a long time. (It's crazy how accurate the OP always is. I wish there was more info on the research he did to get to that simple 17 page document.)

    Anyway --

Congratulations to the people in P2 who are navigating the daily changes -- you've got this! I have been so thankful for this forum, the resources and the knowledge everyone shares is top shelf. Glad I had the courage to step out of lurker status and add my silly user name to the mix.

For anyone with me in P3 right now - cheers to finishing whatever length of round you were on. I hope you run into friends who you haven't seen for a month and they tell you how amazing you look. For me, that's when it really sets in that I've accomplished something big. Here's to giving ourselves time to enjoy the compliments while our bodies find a nice balance to maintain in P4.

For the P4 rockstars that are able to exercise fully again, what big differences are you noticing?

    P4 Month 3

Good morning, good morning, the best to you this morning...! (Extra points if you sing along!)

I went back to January's thread because I could not remember exactly when I finished P3 and I have been posting what month of P4 I am in, and could not believe I am in month 3. But Yep! I hit the end of P3 on January 2nd!

Amazing. Yes I will get a new scale but nobody has paid me yet for anything since the middle of January so I am watching pennies right now. And if I get a new scale, what if I am UP ... 50 pounds... or something? LOL. The midnight scary thoughts of a dieter.

I really wanted a baked sweet potato last night but didn't get away from my desk until after 10. I billed 11.4 hours yesterday. I hope this catches up all the little Couldya's they have been sending me. Couldya take a quick look at this... Couldya edit this little article ( 8 pages long not counting graphs and sent on Saturday needed on Sunday) Couldya change everything on this graphic invite, it looks too in your face. Don't use bold fonts.

    O M G

Any way, I keep counting my money in my head.

I am not hungry this morning but I need to eat. My usual semi-poached egg (I start by frying it and add water and cover when it starts to set up)on a slice of cheese (keeps the egg from leaking onto the plate where you can never get it back without toast!) sausage patty, avocado slices and tomato .... just are not calling me. I had berries and plain yogurt with almond slices yesterday but the weather (and my house) are still too cold to enojy that. It is a summer breakfast. Ok, guess I will make an almond flour muffin and put cinnamon and sweetener on it and call it toast.

    Borrrr-inng. Sorry.

I'm still a bit tired today.

    Onward!
