ray and virgi- i think you'd be fine. it's pretty much phase 3 without dairy or nuts, so it's almost impossible to gain with that diet. and if you lose you're not going to lose quickly, so i don't see that as a problem.

Not Margie, but I use cream (heavy whipping cream) in my coffee and sometimes coconut oil. Just like in P3.

Loving this thread, as it's answered some of the questions I've had. (so thanks all!) Would love to see some daily meal logs from some of you that are doing Leptin. Anyone willing to share? Pretty please. Also, is sugarless gum chewing allowed.. and what about beverages? Assuming water, but is it possible to get away with a diet soda?
    Thanks!

Can someone tell me the no snacking rule...how extreme is that? Does that mean no S/F gum or lifesavers between meals even? Also, does anybody know WHY exactly we are only supposed to exercise after 5? I'm trying to read the Mastering Leptin book right now...very intense! Thanks for any help you can offer.

The no snacking rule has to do with what goes on in your liver when you ingest any food at all. If you eat 50 grams of protein at breakfast, you will not be interested in snacking.

@ Lisa…LR folks need to extend fat burning. Once one eats it immediately turns off fat burning. So the best time to exercise when you are getting your “Ferrari” optimized again is to work out after your last meal. If your already fit you dont need to pay heed to this issue.

Ok I think I understand now...the exercise after dinner rule is ONLY if you think you are still Leptin RESISTANT. I tend to think that I am Leptin Sensitive at this point...so, exercise at any time of day should be fine for me. PLUS, as to the no snacking rule...I'm ok to not SNACK per se, but like a breathmint or something in the afternoon. If that ignites my digestive system, then why wouldn't tea, or even water for that matter??

I am not Leptin Sensitive yet. I know because I still have extra pounds in my middle, still get cravings, still get sore after exercise, my sleep is not the greatest, my energy is down, my feet are cold, and I can easily gain weight.

I'm sure the technical reason for not snacking and what constitutes a snack is covered in the blog. Dr. Kruse does say no cream in coffee apart from meal time.

I realized today that I may be breaking the no snack rule. I didn't even think about it for the past week as I was putting lemon juice in my water. This morning I must have been more with it because I had an aha moment as I was making my first 32 oz bottle of lemon water. I use about 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and a dropper full of vanilla creme Stevia per jug. Do I need to stop the lemon juice between meals?

I would say it may constitute a snack because it has calories.

    From Dr. K:
    14. Can I have coffee or tea between meals, with cream? You can have them plain with no cream. But again should you? Nope. No snacks at all. 3 meals a day…….drinks without calories don’t count and don’t even ask me about artificials sweeteners……no freaking way. Stevia right now is OK as long as it has no fillers like maltodextrin with it. Generally the liquid forms don’t. The real obese or metabolically broken (fibromyalgia) may need four meals a day but it is rare if you eat an BAB! (Big *** Breakfast)

I want to do the leptin reset for phase 3. How do we go into phase 3. Do I just start eating anything thats in the plan, or do I slowly start out with new foods to see about problem foods? I don't want to mess up now after all my success.

Slowly add in new foods every 2 to 3 days and watch your weight to see how your body reacts to them. Avoid and I REPEAT AVOID SUGAR AND STARCHES -- they are NO BUENO on P3. Read ingredient labels carefully and become familiar with other names for sugar such as maltodextrin and sucralose
