    Questions for Dr. Kruse

Not sure how often the good Doc will check in with us but we thought we'd make it easier for him to find any questions we might have.

    Question re leptin reset

I am on my second round of hhcg and have a week left before P3. I only have 2 pounds left i would like to lose. I'm 5'5 and goal is 125. My question is
how crucial is it to eat the BAB within 30 minutes if I don't have 30 lbs to lose? Also does the no exercise in the morning apply to me, as I will be at my
goal weight. My plan to do the reset is mostly to keep my weight stable as I struggled a bit in Phase 4. I still plan to do the no snacks and no eating
    at night. Thank you!

Just in case Dr. K doesn't see this, the only thing that is different by how much weight you have to lose is the carbs allowed. Not the timing. You still need to eat within 30 minutes.

    COLOSTRUM: JUST MASKING LEAKY GUT?

hi Dr. K, a couple of years ago, trying to deal with many of the leaky gut symptoms, but not having a name for it, or even thinking they were tied, I started taking colostrum. i avoided gluten while i took it. i was feeling really great. then while on vacation, I ate a bunch of bread, and had absolutely no ill effects, or none that I could sense. I thought I was "cured" of gluten intolerance.

then i kind of slacked off on taking it - feeling over-confident. symptoms returned returned slowly but surely. i told my naturopath and he said the colostrum was simply masking the symptoms. do you think that is true? do you think the prolonged use of colostrum can help in healing leaky gut.

once one is gluten intolerant, is that it? should i just accept i will never be able to have gluten and be optimal again?

    thanks.

AVOID ALL ALTERNATIVE SWEETENERS DURING THE RESET?

Hi Dr. K. I thought I had read somewhere that even stevia should not be used during the reset b/c it still stimulates your brain to think you had something sweet and so it mobilizes all / most of the hormonal cascades to deal with what it thinks is "sugar". is this true?

i understand about the sugar alcohols (xylitol and erythritol) being a no-no b/c of leaky gut. what about this new product Just Like Sugar? http://www.justlikesugarinc.com/

Just Like Sugar®, is made from a natural dietary fiber deriver from chicory root, vitamin C and flavors extracted from orange peel. I had the company test the product independently for the presence of L-glutamate, D-glutamate and aspartic acid, based on concerns about other sweeteners that contain these excitotoxins. The results show that the product is completely free of all three. I have tried it and it really does taste just like sugar. There is no hypoglycemic effect, as seen with Stevia, and its sweetness is equal to that of real sugar. Importantly. There is no aftertaste.

if this is a "NO" is there anything besides stevia that is acceptable? i still have not found a stevia that is not bitter.

i am just trying to arm myself with all that i need to know so that when i begin the leptin reset in Nov it is a true success, and hopefully fast. i don't mind giving up stuff to be optimal, but the list of no foods is getting really really long. thanks!

Thanks Dr. Kruse! I have taken note that on the days I used 1 pkt of NuStevia in Cocoa Crack that I had gains & when I had the Lemon Trufflish Treat w no Stevia, I had losses. Can it be that 1 pkt of the NuStevia has that much mayhem in it???? I just went to amazon & ordered a 1# box of Just Like Sugar for $19.99 w s/h Prime covered. Thanks for the Just For Sugar recommendation. Thanks Itsy for generating this information.

I will be interested in what Doc has to say about this if he finds this thread okay. But I limit anything that tastes sweet. Studies show that the taste alone can spike insulin levels. So all those treats I used to eat like cocoa crack and mug cake are something I only have once in a while, certainly not every day now. Maybe once every 3 weeks. I use KAL stevia in my coffee and only a tiny bit, maybe 1/3 of that teeny scoop that comes with it. it doesn't taste sweet and I only drink it with a meal.

Oh! Oh! I thought the JLS in blue was his way of responding. oh well...sugar happens. No Problem. I'll put it in the cabinet for somebody to clean out when I go on to GLORY.

well, lets wait to see what he says!

grammy i agree in theory, but to have some coco crack after a high protein / fat meal should not spike insulin, right? i am just trying to be realistic regarding will power etc. when i have cut so much out b/c of both P2 and leaky gut and in the near future leptin reset. it would be nice to be able to make a high quality chocolate or lemon treat that will not impede getting to optimal.

but if it will.... i WILL take it out.

That's the only time I eat something like that too. But I don't do it very often. I want to break the back of the sugar monster in my life.
