    Where is everyone?.

February is usually a great month to do HCG! I am starting my injections tomorrow. I mixed it just now and usually start on 125 ius. I'm dreading weighing myself, I am 2 diets from goal not one, and or maybe 1.5 diets lol, I just know it's over 20 lbs. Anyway, I do have to remember I gained a ton of muscle from working out so much this past year, too! My legs actually are very muscular now. I just need my tummy and arm fat gone! It's taken me awhile to get into hcg-diet mode in my head. I have been doing a re-do round once a year. I probably will go ahead an do a 2nd round at the end of April, I want to be light for summer, for my workouts and hikes. If I could ever learn to keep it off, or maintain that would be a win (for more than six months). At least I haven't gained ALL of it back just about 1/4 every year to 1/3 of it back.

Anyway, we are going out to eat tomorrow. I'm excited to see the weightloss. Every time I think I can do it "on my own"...via keto, working out, intermittent fasting, etc. I initially lose 8 lbs or so and then it stops. lol. I also had some set backs in the past year, I was on leave from work, I had a hysterectomy, I had my thyroid meds adjusted 2 or 3 times, so that always causes fatigue/and weight issues that are beyond my fault, then I also do notice that during Covid, there is more mindless eating at night in front of TV even if it is "healthy, or keto". So I have been working on being mindful.

Good luck, anyone else joining me? I will do 28-30 days of the VLC part. 32 days of injections probably.
    Started JULY 2015
    Ended 4 rounds November 2016
    -80 pounds!

I keep gaining 20 to 25 of it back, I take off 5 pounds myself and then I do a round and lose 20 lbs. So I have done a total of 7 rounds. I am on my 8th round, taking the SAME 20 lbs off. ugh. But at least I don't gain 80 back!

HI Cupcake! Hi Leez! Hello new friends!

    Cupcake I am in!
I have had tremendous back pain and sciatica. They were going to do surgery and that scared it out of me ha ha. Being on pain meds provided an opportunity for me to get off track. I was maintaining well for a long time prior to the pain. Now I am still having some pain but no pain meds so I know that will help me food and weight wise. I just need to do a round before I get way off track.

Please disregard the ticker below. I have to fix that now.

Today is day one. Leez how are you doing?

Wishing you both success, Cupcakesoaps andrkthin! I did a round starting in December and felt the same way, "where is everybody?".. When you are ready, you are ready. I am so happy I went forward and am in the 3rd week of my P3 which ends Thursday. If I feel restored enough, I do plan on another round after 3 weeks of P4. My gallbladder is giving me trouble and HCG diet aggravates it as I can't eat beans which is the best thing ever to recycle Bile and keep my gallbladder happy.

I can't recommend enough learning EFT or taking seminars on how to use EFT for food issues. I am attending another one at the end of the month even though it is being held in Australia time, so I will be on from 12am central to 7:30am! It is worth it though, because what I learn is invaluable. I am in training for Clinical EFT but I take these courses for my own benefit. There is a connection between cravings and people we have loved or love and experiences we had together which cause the brain to equate the food with the good time. These connections happen in childhood especially but it can happen later as well like from college experiences or other highlights. So the chocolate is not just about the chocolate, or the pastry, or the booze, or whatever it was that made us really happy when we had this WITH this beloved figure or happy event. The brain connects the two and we get compelled to eat or eat at a certain time or whatever because of what the brain connects the habit to.

I also had an EMDR session with a trained therapist who taught me an exercise I can use whenever needed to connect the pleasurable feeling state (wanting to carry out my addiction or compulsion) using EMDR and feeling it in the body, where I feel it, what I believe in that moment, why I should do this thing, and then connect with the after effect, the consequence. I repeat a cycle as many times as I need to. It teaches the brain to become our best, good friend that fully understands what will make us truly happy. Instead of the bad friend, who is like, do this, you will like it, it is worth it, only to to realize after we do it, how horrible we feel with disappointment in ourselves or worse....

Just saying there are many tools available to help with the emotional reasons for using food for something other than enjoyable sustenance when hungry.

@rkthin: doing as well as can be expected for mid winter. At least we are getting some sunshine and warm days this year, so that's helping.

Have had a few winter pounds creep on, so I'm trying to mitigate that. I think for me, its related to being cold all the time in winter, no matter how much I bundle up. So I tend to feel like I need calories to stay warm. My current strategy is to replace that tendency with just hot teas, but not sure if that will work. I guess we'll see!

@KerryLR: you might try adding some digestive enzymes that include oxbile to help support your gall bladder. Losing weight is hard on the gall bladder and its not unusual to have some GB issues afterwards. I find papain enzyme helps as well, especially when you have a meal where you feel a bit over-full afterwards.

    Good Morning Fellow Foxies,

Kerry: Thank you for telling me about EFT! I will look into that. Something that helps me with chocolate craving when not in a round—is I use cocoa powder in my coffee. I also find my craving for chocolate is linked to my low magnesium levels. Cocoa powder is something like 30 cal a tablespoon. I also second the papaya enzymes. I find I use them in P3 as well or if I have a big meal. I am going to look into the ox bile! Thanks Leez!

Leez: I am also always cold. My doctor has tried looking at my iron levels but it is just who I am. A couple things that have helped me is making sure I wear fluffy socks to sleep in at night. I find that helps me go to sleep quicker and stay asleep. I also bought these huge thick socks at Costco and then bought some men’s tennis shoes and hiking shoes to wear with them ha ha! It keeps me much warmer. That and cute hats! And gosh I live in California I certainly could not survive anymore in the Midwest!
Also, I made to overnight oats recipes from “fit foodie finds”. And In one recipe she has you make a chai spice mix which I am going to try to re-print below. I add that to my Tea and I really enjoy it. How do you feel about soups? I find soups and broths based soups really helped me stay warm... When I am not doing a round I will take the chicken skin and bones from the chicken thighs. We will grill the chicken thighs boneless and I will take all those bones and make a bone broth soup. Then I will skim the fat off and I think that’s high in collagen.

Leez: What do you think of blue agave syrup and Monk fruit? Are usually do not use artificial sweeteners, but before I started the round I was using agave syrup in my overnight oats. Is any of that OK for P2?

AFM: gosh I just wish every week was week one! I am already doing well and it’s a day 2 and I’ve lost 5.6 pounds. I probably should’ve started a round much earlier to deal with “a creep of the creep!” However, since I threw out all my heavier clothes I am always limited when I get to High these days! Giggle

Some things I am doing differently that is helping me: first, I think posting more frequently kind of keeps me in the right mindset. I live a life with friends/Family where people are either naturally thin, not talking about how they are living a healthy thin life, or content being the heavier weight they are. So I think posting will help me keep the correct mindset.

Second, maintenance is always an issue for me. It’s a learning curve I am trying to get better at. One thing I’ve learned in my wardrobe supports this – when I reach a certain weight I have to take immediate action. What I would like to do is try to make that a much smaller window. Before things get out of hand!

Hope everyone has a great day! I am just going to see if I can copy and paste that chai spice mix! It is so much better tasting than the mix I was buying at the store!

Soups do help me keep warm. Remembering to take my thyroid meds would likely help too. ^_^

Leez: What do you think of blue agave syrup and Monk fruit? Are usually do not use artificial sweeteners, but before I started the round I was using agave syrup in my overnight oats. Is any of that OK for P2?
Agave is pure fructose. Its not a healthy sugar, contrary to reports, and overuse causes metabolic imbalance. No sugars are recommended for P2 other than what is in your allowed fruits.

If you can use stevia, you might send for a $5 sample of Yungas Green, a stevia imported from Bolivia available through the US site naturamericas.com Most stevias have a bitter and long lasting aftertaste to me except for this one. Its very close to a sugar-sweet taste, and I find can use a lot of it before it starts to get bitter. Which means I can finally get things sweet enough.

Monk fruit is likely OK, as its a zero calorie sweetener. With zero-calorie sweeteners that were not available at the time the protocol was written, you just have to test it for yourself to see if it stalls you.

Leez! Thank you for the sweetener thoughts. I was thinking about growing my own Stevia because I agree I cannot stand the stevia aftertaste. Usually a better idea to just forgo the sweeteners in P2 for me.

Here is the chai spice mix recipe— I like the link because you can make several servings once you decide you like it.

Sweeteners are so subjective... I usually hesitate to recommend any. We all perceive sweet differently and what tastes wonderful to one might be horrid tasting to another. Frankly, I would never have even tried Yungas had they not offered the $5 sample because I had spent so much money on multiple full sized products in my search. Thankfully, this last try was the winner for me. Maybe it will be for you as well.'

Not a chai tea person myself, but I did find that I actually liked a curry recipe when I made the curry spice blend myself. Something about freshly toasted spices and a good recipe!

    Carry on, Foxies!

My acid reflux us flared bad since I started I assume my liver is working hard and that's why, I have bile duct issues. So weird, to eat clean and acid reflux flares.

My fatigue from 1st 3 days was gone today, so yeah on that.

Its a good idea to support your liver while going through detox, as it can help alleviate some of the detox symptoms. It sounds like that is part of what is behind your various miseries this time. Some things that help: milk thistle, NAC, epson salts baths, things that get your lymph moving like walking, bouncing, even arm circles and waist twists.

    Hello Foxies!

Big week of deadlines here for me!

Leez your curry spice mix sounds terrific! I agree freshly toasted spices is a great idea. I will try the Yungas Stevia. I am also trying to control my sweet tooth so not having any sweetener is always a good move for me!

Cupcake I am a big fan of epsom salt baths. I get the Epsom salts plain at the .99 cent store...I have had my usual detox headache but am so grateful tylenol works for me!

This round I am trying to keep up my walking. I find that helps me mentally and I think avoiding regressing to couch potato is a good thing overall.

    Have a great day!
    RK
