    Hey RK and Leez,
Not happy today with another 0.5 increase on the scale. Ready to get back on P2 Friday and will REALLY watch what I eat and drink today and tomorrow. Hoping it is mostly water weight...

RK - I have a hard time figuring out a 40 day chunk of time for this protocol as well. I print out about 5 months of calendars and try to fit it in between "events". I travel for work every 8 weeks for 4 days. I have come to the realization that P2 and that trip don't get along, so work around that in my planning. I'm still 20ish lbs from goal, so I know there is another round in my future... Taking Super Bowl into account, that would give me a 27 day round before my next work trip. Fingers crossed nothing else crops up. I don't think a PI will work for me again, so that's not even an option.

Leez - Sorry to hear your elimination diet experiment went awry. Good that your antibodies are down. Hopefully your other "interventions" keep things headed that direction. I miss bread too, but just not worth it to try to work it back into my life.

Have a great rest of your week all!

Good Morning Leez and Linderlou and everyone else,

Leez, That really stinks! Elimination diets are hard at baseline anyway. I also had that experience with elimination diets. The only thing I learned was that If I have bread I have to buy imported non GMO flour, make it myself and only very occasionally. I have Hashimotos, which makes weight loss a challenge and I can just imagine what real autoimmune disease can do to weight loss. Maybe you could do a short round when the weather turns nicer worse case? Also, I am a big low calorie home made Vegetable soup in winter girl, it really helps me get my veggies in and keeps my calories down. If that helps. I have one with beans that my family loves, I freeze it in quart size portion freezer bags, (not P2 or 3 ha ha) LMK if you would like the recipe.

LinderLou I don't know why you are gaining! However, please be consoled that like me after a Planned Interruption it is like the first week of P2 for me. I am down .8lbs today, and was down a whole pound yesterday. Talk about feeling renewed motivation!

Personally though, it is a challenging time of year. I think it takes all my self control to be POP, i have to "dig deep" to keep my usual good humor to deal with life. I am having sleep issues again, so tonight will be a bath in epsom salts and the Natural Calm. I am also going to get some bright light this morning as I once went to a sleep doctor and that helps. Any insomnia fighting tips would be helpful. Thank you so much.

    Have a wonderful day!

rk, I'd love your soup recipe. I have trouble getting enough veggies in in the winter too. No cold salads for this girl when my fingers are already icicles. ^_^.

A spring round might be a possibility, but yeah--no more winter rounds for me. I've done a couple and I get that HCG chill effect, so the only time I'm warm in P2 is when I'm soaking in a hot tub.

Early day, so no time to weigh this morning. I didn't want to see the number anyway... Hoping I jump back in with the losing first week rate too, like you RK.

RK - Hope you get through your sleep issues. Not fun, no matter what the reason. Hope the bright light helps you. We finally had a little sunshine today and I made sure to sit outside and enjoy the warmth and sun on my face.

Leez - I freeze too. Actually, I find it easier to deal with in cold weather as everyone else is freezing too. No one gives me a sideways look when I ask for the heat to be turned up, or put on an extra layer of clothes. Now, in the summertime, when it's 80/90 outside and I put on a sweater, I get many more funny looks... ;-)

    Ever onward everyone!

    Good Morning,

Yes I am freezing too. Don't know how anyone does this diet in real winter weather! I slept really well last night. Took this CalMag (that natural vitality no longer makes, so back to Calm Sleep when this runs out). Also, the bright morning light really helps me. Leez, I was in an epsom salt bath last night and said, "this is the first moment I feel really warm" ha ha. Great minds think alike.

LinderLou I am down another .8 today. It is phenomenal for me as I usually lose a steady .4 a day if I am lucky. It is all due to the Planned Interruption as it is like week one again.

Leez, I will post my Veggistrone soup recipe once I clean it up. I am a huge soup fan. I freeze soup in quart size ziplocks. Freeze the bags flat and when they are solid you can stand them up so the look like books on a shelf in your freezer and take up less room and are easy to find. Last night I took 2 sheet pans, lined them with foil, in a 425 oven roasted big pans of tomatoes from the 99 cent store, sprinkled a little Thyme, salt and pepper, a head of garlic wrapped in foil and sliced purple and yellow onions. The onions and garlic got done in 30 minutes, the tomatoes took 45 and then I pureed it in a blender with some chicken stock (Costco). Then reheated it. Everyone loved that here and it was very easy. I don't use any oil, I never peel the tomatoes. If I wasn't P2 i would have added a red bell pepper and maybe some carrots to the pans. These were Roma and cherry tomatoes, but any would work. If I wasn't dieting I would have garnished the bowls with goat cheese, maybe fresh basil but honestly it wasn't needed. I thinned mine with water and chicken stock because I wan't sure how many tomatoes would be allowed, but it was super easy and low cal.

Hang in there. I hope you all have a good day. LinderLou Do you have any idea why your weight is going up? If you are cheating a lot that's ok, just would be great if you could figure out the reason! Once a few rounds ago for me it was Blue Cheese! I gained so much weight the next day! So now I never eat that until after P3 and 3 weeks of P4 has passed, so glad I know that.

Have a focused weekend--always the hardest for me! But I will push through and look at restaurant menus and call before I go.

    Best Wishes,
    RK

    Hey ladies.

RK - Glad to hear you are getting better sleep and your soup sounds really good except that I don't do tomatoes. They're too acidic for my system. It limits my menus in many ways, but have learned to live with it over the years. I could be sensitive/allergic to so many other (worse) things...

I discovered in one of my first rounds that I don't tolerate peanut butter. That was a big surprise and revelation to me. I love it, but have steered clear of it ever since. As for my weight going up during my PI, I'm hoping, like you said, that it's water, and will come off quickly. I've been really good about only eating P2 or P3 foods, and nothing new at all, so I'm thinking a couple of things. 1) I had really nice drops the week before, so my body might just be fighting to get that weight back. I've usually entered P3 after at least one week of a stall on P2, so kind of already stabilized, OR/AND I was only on D15 of P2 when I started the PI. Maybe just not long enough... Whatever... I won't do it again, and just hope I can salvage the rest of this round.

That said, I have a question about counting P2 days now. Do I just deduct the 4 days of the PI and start counting today as D16 instead of D20? I'm thinking yes, but wanted to confirm. Still up in the air about pushing through the Christmas holiday or stopping there. I guess it depends on if I hit a slowdown/stall around then... Hmmm - what to do?

That could be your problem. To be successful, you can't start a PI until you have had 23 dose days (2 loading days plus 21 VLC days). Before that marker, your system has not yet finished resetting and weight gain during the PI is likely.

The protocol directions for "an unforeseen interruption" (what we now call a PI) is probably where the whole idea of cycling originated. Cycling is very non-protocol, but a PI that starts the transition after 23 doses and includes up to 2 weeks of P3 before jumping in for the rest of the allowed 40 dose days is a kind of cycled round.

You count dose days instead of actual low calories days. For purposes of making sure your round is neither too short nor too long, the two loading days count, plus any VLC day where you are taking the HCG. For instance, a 35 day round would be the two loading days, plus 33 dose days. The actual time you are the VLC diet can be longer with skip days, period days, or transition days to PI and P3.

Leez - Thank You SO much! I had a feeling I was missing some important piece of information - and I was! For a while, I was afraid that I would never stabilize again, but now I have hope! I've renumbered my calendar and if I stop before Christmas, that puts me at 31 dose days. If I push on through to the new year and my next work trip, it puts me at 44 dose days.

I'm not going to let other people interfere with my schedule or P2 round again. I will bring my own food if I have to...

    Hi,

I have done a PI at 20 days, but that is as close as I have gotten to below 23 days. Just a thought: Maybe take another PI at Christmas and then you could have some doses left to get you where you want to end up. My personal history is that a cheat in P2 or on a planned interruption is just a loss of time, but a cheat for me in P3 can really result in a gain I can't shake...Of course, Leez is the expert.

I have often just had to say to people, my stomach is not my friend right now, suddenly and then just eat what works or eat nothing but herb tea....However, I always seem to get in a pickle while on P2...sometimes there is no avoiding it. I think everything will be fine once you start back up. You just may need to give yourself a good motivational talk!

As long as the total dose days for the round doesn't exceed 40, you might be able to do your interruption at Christmas and then finish out your 40 doses afterwards. Since you didn't wait until after dose day 23, what you just completed was not an actual interruption, it was just days off.

Personally, I have never chosen to do an interruption. It just seemed like it would be too hard to get back into P2 once I was out of it. So I just powered through regardless of what life events were happening.

This is my family's favorite Vegetable soup. It is NOT for P2...

    Veggistrone Soup, MODIFIED

    Original recipe is from:
    http://www.eatingwell.com/recipe/250625/veggistrone/

This vegetable-packed minestrone soup recipe is inspired by a popular Weight Watchers vegetable soup recipe. It makes a big pot of soup, so keep some in the refrigerator for up to 5 days and freeze the rest in single-serve portions. That way you always have an easy, delicious vegetable soup to start your meal or to eat for lunch. Think of this vegetable minestrone recipe as a starting point for other healthy soup variations, too: toss in leftover chopped cooked chicken or whole-wheat pasta or brown rice to make it more satisfying.

    Ingredients10 servings
    • extra-virgin olive oil—I use just a Drop, if any!!
    • 3 large chopped onions
    • 2 cups chopped celery I USE bunch or more
    • 2 cups chopped carrots or I USE 6 large

    • 1 cup chopped green RED bell pepper (1 medium)
    • 4 cloves garlic, minced
    • 3 cups chopped cabbagecan use more, sometimes 2 colors
    • 3 cups chopped cauliflower (about medium) can use more, chop and use leaves and stems too.
    • 2 cups green beans, cut into 1-inch pieces, or frozen, thawed
    • 10 cups water because can’t taste the broth, the original recipe called for 8 C of chicken or vegetable broth
    • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce- this IMHO Does NOTHING, optional
    • 1 (14 ounce) can diced tomatoes
    • 3 cans(15 ounce) can kidney or pinto beans, rinsed thoroughly I like pinto, black and kidney 1 can each. This key step makes the soup more filling. Original recipe called for 1 can of beans
    • 1-2 bay leaf DON’T CRUSH THEM!
    • Mushrooms 1-2 packages especially oyster etc.
    • 4 cups chopped fresh spinach or 1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed OPTIONAL, can also use Kale or nothing.I tend to leave out the spinach or add it at the last minute, I just don't like the way it looks in soup
    • Any other veggies past their prime
    • cup thinly sliced fresh basil OPTIONAL
    • Dried Basil
    • Dried garlic
    • 4 Tbs Salsa. If I have some
    • Oregano
    • Chinese 5 spice if you want to change it, or CURRY POWDER
    • 10 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese -the cheese is optional, I never use it
I always add some fresh ginger, curry powder or turmeric.
    Spices change the flavor:
Don't let the length of the ingredients put you off. It is very flexible. You can add whatever veggies you have on hand. Cabbage, onions, carrots and cauliflower are the musts.

    Preparation
Active: 1 H Ready In 1 h 45 m freezes great. Makes a very large pot of soup!!!!
    1. Heat oil, a spray of PAM or a little bit of water in a large soup pot or Dutch oven (8-quart or larger) over medium heat. Add onions, and let cook while you chop up the other veggies. Add Carrots, celery, bell pepper and garlic; cook, stirring frequently, until softened, 13 to 15 minutes. Add cabbage, cauliflower, and green beans; cook, stirring occasionally, until slightly softened, about 10 minutes more.
    2. (Add broth, if using, I don't, use water) water, tomato sauce(optional), tomatoes, beans (well rinsed) and bay leaf; cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, partially covered, until the vegetables are tender, 20 to 25 minutes. Stir in spinach (or Kale if using) and simmer for 10 minutes more.
    3. Discard the bay leaf. Stir in basil. Top each portion with 1 tablespoon cheese. If using cheese.
    • To make ahead: Prepare through Step 2 and refrigerate for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 6 months; finish Step 3 just before serving.

    You can add Chili powder
    Spice it Indian
    Spice it Mexican or Italian
    Throw in parmesan rind

    YOU NEED A BIG POT

I freeze this in Labeled Quart size ziplock bags, I freeze it flat and then stand them up in the freezer on a shelf so they look like little books and don't get lost in the freezer.

I used to make a beef vegetable soup that was similar to this. Beef instead of the beans and its almost the same. I like the idea of the beans as the hearty element. I think I actually have all the ingredients.
