At least you have an explanation for the gain. The hard ones to deal with are when you do everything right and the scale still bumps up.

I remember getting my water in in winter rounds by sipping hot lemon water all day. I just could not do cold anything those times.

I don't do lemons... Drinking tea or coffee after 1pm keeps me awake at night. I DO savor my coffee in the morning and hold the cup to warm my hands up. I usually have to rewarm it a couple of times because it takes me so long to drink it

    Hello,

Hope you guys are doing well. LinderLou I agree getting in water is a challenge, and also because you don’t want to drink to little or too much.

AFM it’s really bad here. I understand how I got fat. Can’t wait until the holidAy and the food pushers are over.

    Have a great day

RK - sorry to hear about the food pushers. I've had to deal with that a bit this week as well. I am ready to be done with the holidays and move onto P3. So much easier to eat out or with friends in that phase. Hang in there!

    Hi LinderLou and Leez,

LinderLou thank you for your support. Glad to be on a planned interruption but very afraid to get on the scale when I get home. I have eaten way too much over here, fabulous food, wines, etc and have not had control over my food choices like at home. However, today is a new day and I will do better. It has also given me a lot to think about for how to deal with my healthy eating goals while traveling. If I enjoy a big breakfast, then I can scale back lunch and dinner without feeling deprived, but I may need to “reign in” at breakfast also. I just love a big breakfast...

Hope everything is going well for you guys. Yes P3 it is easier to eat out. Can’t wait to come home this weekend. Then I need to figure out when to resume my round. I would like to get back on right away, but need to look o
    At the calendar.

Leez, How long should a planned interruption last? Is it better to wait until after Christmas to resume or is that too long a break? Are shorter PIs more successful? Thanks for your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

Leez, How long should a planned interruption last? Is it better to wait until after Christmas to resume or is that too long a break? Are shorter PIs more successful?

Just to check.... did you have 23 dose days before starting the interruption? Because if not, it doesn't matter if you are following the rules or not. You won't have the benefit of the rested hypothalmus to weather the interruption properly.

Interruptions are meant to not last more than 14 days. At 14 days, you start right back into P2 without reloading. Success in PI's is very individual. Its either going to go well for you or not. The length doesn't seem to matter.

    Here's what the protocol says:
    Unforeseen Interruptions of Treatment

If an interruption of treatment lasting more than four days is necessary, the patient must increase his diet to at least 800 Calories by adding meat, eggs, cheese, and milk to his diet after the third day, as otherwise he will find himself so hungry and weak that he is unable to go about his usual occupation. If the interval lasts less than two weeks the patient can directly resume injections and the 500-Calorie diet, but if the interruption lasts longer he must again eat normally until he has had his third injection.

When a patient knows beforehand that he will have to travel and be absent for more than four days, it is always better to stop injections three days before he is due to leave so that he can have the three days of strict dieting which are necessary after the last injection at home. This saves him from the almost impossible task of having to arrange the 500 Calorie diet while en route, and he can thus enjoy a much greater dietary freedom from the day of his departure. Interruptions occurring before 20 effective injections have been given are most undesirable, because with less than that number of injections some weight is liable to be regained. After the 20th injection an unavoidable interruption is merely a loss of time.
The protocol does seem to indicate that the interruption can go on longer than 14 days, its just that you have to reload for 2 days before starting again.

RK - Hoping TESS is kind to you when you return home. Personally, I'm not a big breakfast lover. I'd rather have brunch.

I'm back down today and just 0.3 over my ticker. 10 days left on P2 to make a bigger dent this round. Pretty sure I won't make it to goal at this rate... Thinking of doing another round in February just after the Super Bowl and going about 30 days until my next work trip in early March.

Leez - thanks for your quote about the PI. He says only 800 calories! And to add meat, eggs, cheese and milk. That's a bit different than P3. I think I won't be doing a PI in the future.

    Have a great day everyone!

It does say "at least 800 calories", so we take that to mean a minimum level, and over the years, it has gradually come to be interpreted as P3 eating. That could explain why people have differing results according to how they do it.

    Hello friends,

Yes, I was well over the 23 days of effective doses before the PI. One thing I have found is that in a PI I am not as hungry. That Helps. I am very worried what TESS will say. I am going to wait a day or 2 to weigh in for the salt to subside from all the processed/restaurant food of travel. I am sure I am up....sigh....

When I get home I will calculate out the PI length. I have a big thing on January 4, so that is all, then it should be smooth sailing, so I am thinking about what to do.

This PI has been a good chance to evaluate my pitfalls and past weight gains, specifically as it relates to the traveling and eating out part of my life.. The big breakfast/brunch while traveling, eating out while traveling, "I deserve great fun food while traveling" philosophies. I think the more I can figure out how I got back here and work out alternative strategies, the better my chances of making my weight loss stick. Easier to do while not as hungry, yet still really tempted.

LinderLou, i would not be afraid of a PI if you have hit the minimum effective doses. I hope you make a good dent in your goals with the remaining doses!

RK - One of the things I Love about this protocol is that it really makes you take a step back from the same old, same old and evaluate what you're eating and why. Eating at restaurants, even on a PI or P3 is still a challenge. Usually, for me, there are only 3 or 4 choices that aren't deep fried, crusted in bread crumbs, or the like. And, when you're travelling, you don't always have the option of taking the leftovers with you to enjoy another day, so it feels very wasteful. Keeping good thoughts about your reunion with TESS.

AFM: P2D31: Still the same this morning. A solid 9 days at pretty much the same weight plus or minus 0.3. I have been totally POP, working hard at getting the water in and not the least tempted to even taste something off protocol. BUT, I am so bored with the lack of food choices and lack of movement on the scale. I came so close to throwing in the towel this morning and being done with this round by Christmas... But, I'm trying to hang in there and keep going for another 9 days. Fingers crossed.

Enjoy your weekend everyone - plenty of football to watch!

Good morning all! Whelp, today is the day. LDW. Gave it a lot of thought yesterday and decided it wasn't mentally a good idea to keep on going at this point. So, TESS then further torments me this morning with a 1.5 drop overnight. It's OK, I'm still done. My final turning point is that I HAVE to do another round anyway, and if I end now, I can start another round a week earlier than if I went with the original plan. Soooo, that puts the start of my next round the first week of February, which gives me a solid 29 days before my next work trip. Sounds like a plan to me!

    Good Morning!

Leez, 2 questions when you get a chance:

    1. What do you think of starchy vegetables during a PI? Like Cauliflower, Brussels Sprouts and Broccoli? I figure potatoes are a no no since the goal is no sugar, no starch during the PI, just not sure of starchy veggies.

    2. What do you think about increasing my exercise during a PI? I don't want to overdo it, yet other than walking I find best results by not exercising during P2. IT's just too hard to exercise during P2, but not sure about a PI.

LinderLou, your plan sounds really good. Please let me know how you do navigating P3. I am pulling for you and sending you my good thoughts and wishes. I find it takes me a couple of weeks to re-gain my appetite, so I hope that is your situation as it makes it easier.

AFM: I am up 3 pounds, but not sure if it is a true gain or if salt and processed travel food is still causing problems. I am still not really hungry, which is always a blessing to navigating a PI. I still think that weight may come off, but the goal is to not add to it in the PI. My plan is to stay in this PI until January 4, maybe load January 4 when I have that gourmet dinner, and then DH is gone on Business Travel for a week so I can really get started on the right foot--even though I will miss him, of course.

Whelp, I am disappointed about the gain, but not going to panic. Just going to focus on doing the right things.

    Have a wonderful day
