February 2018 Loaders - Ready for change

    Hi there February Loaders!

This is a thread for any starting a round in February of 2018. Use the thread however you wish--for support, accountability, share questions & concerns and log your progress with others working through their own round. Often the best support comes from someone going through the protocol with you. In any given month, there is usually a mix of those new to HCG and those that have done it before. We even get some long time veterans who can share their wealth of experience with you as they return for another round.

I'll pop into the thread from time to time to help with questions or give some guidance. Be aware that any wisdom I offer will be based on the original protocol, as that is the tried and true program that is successful for almost everyone. There are modern variations on the program and if you are choosing to follow one of those, you are welcome to take or leave any guidance given. We all have a common goal and can support one another in that.

My best wishes for a successful February round. I did one round in February and vowed to never do a winter round again. One of the side effects of the HCG is being chilled to the bone. It's a good thing in that it is a sign that the HCG is working well. But I have to say, this side effect is much more pleasant in summer than in winter! I think the only time I was warm during that round was when I was sitting in a hot bath.

I know it's not February yet.......but, it's right around the corner. I decided to go ahead and load before February and get myself started. VLCD#1 for me. This will be my fourth round in 3 years. I had a failed round this fall due to Hurricane Harvey (yep....I'm blaming him)! I just couldn't manage the power outage, stress and devastation in my area. Plus, I was trying 2.0 and also ordered my HCG online from Rejuvi. In the past I have gotten my HCG from my clinic. So the combination of Harvey, 2.0 and a different HCG turned into a huge FAIL. My previous 3 rounds had been amazing. I know many do just great on 2.0 but I'm going back to original protocol this round. The failed round this fall was totally different than my previous 3 rounds. I was not tired/fatigues, i didn't get freezing cold, and I didn't even feel like I was on a hormone protocol. (that is what made me think my HCG wasn't a good vial). Because of that experience, I was hesitate to attempt another round. But, HCG is the only thing that gets rid of the FAT around my middle. I'm finally an empty nester........my life is less stressful compared to the previous 3 years, and I'm hopeful that I can finally get myself entrenched with clean eating after this round. I'm hoping others will join in here soon and let's get started. I struggled loading........my clinic wants 3 days. I concentrated on fats instead of carbs. I'm kinda prepared for the VLCD's!!! I've got veggies and chicken ready to get myself going. The first several days are generally hard for me. So, I'm dreading TODAY. I plan to use a few off protocol veggies, past rounds have proven that is ok with me. I also plan to weigh everything that does in my mouth. Past rounds have proven that works best for me. DEEP BREATH.....here I go again.

Leez........the "chill" I've typically had while on HCG is awful!!! Houston Texas has starting warming up some so I'm hoping I'll get through the chills easily enough!

Come on February folks..........chime in!!!! KMac

Hey Kmac! I remember you from the fall! I loaded last week and am currently on vlcd 5. The first 3 days were rough! I'm feeling human again now though. I usually stay pretty strict protocol, but I've decided to add in a couple of extra veggies and maybe lime this round too. Broccoli and zuchinni is what I'm adding. What are you thinking of adding?

Hey there! It looks like the 2 of us for February? Hopefully, more folks will join in. I did notice a few starting their VLCD's but they are in another group. So, hopefully the February group will make!! I've always been ok with broccoli in previous rounds, so I'll continue. I bought some zucchini to try as well. I was wanting to steam/mash cauliflower this time. I like the consistency and often get tired of broccoli and asparagus. I'm really sticking to OP this time (other than mixing veggies and stretching the variety). I measured everything out for lunch. I really wasn't hungry on my load days and I really wasn't hungry at 2pm when I had lunch today. I REALLY hope that continues!!!!!! So far, day one is going well. OH......I am going to try one thing that is way off protocol this time. I have some Nature's Best Isopure Protein powder. It has ZERO CARBS/SUGARS!! One scoop is 105 calories. I had a smoothie for breakfast this morning with 1/2 cup of strawberries added. Total calories 140. (I plan to do this if I'm going to exercise....I played 2 hours of tennis this morning). Now, in previous rounds, I have not had the energy to play tennis so I was happy to get one last match in. I will only use the protein smoothie when I'm in a hurry or just need a break from same old food. Also, I'm hoping to mix things/rotate better. I hope my 2 hours of hard exercise doesn't impact my scale numbers in the morning!!! I have a goal of 20 lbs this round. But, I've only lost that much on one round. I typically lose about 17- 18 lbs. It seems like I"ve gained the same 20 lbs. .......3 different times. RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!! Somehow I must brainwash myself into thinking that skinny feels better than wine tastes!!!! KMac

KMac - Yes! I've had to convince myself that skinny does indeed feel better than wine tastes! I love that.

There are more hcg folks on the Lovely Losers thread in addition to this thread if you want to check in here and over there.

I started on January 18th loading so I still have all of February to go so I think I will join you guys. I did the HCG strict protacol about 3 years ago through a doctors office and did really well, lost 20 pounds. I kept it off for about 1 1/2 years and then gradually gained it all back plus another 5. I also did a few failed attempts doing a rogue hcg and it just doesn't work for me. Too easy to cheat when I am not following it strict. This time I would like to lose at least 20 pounds and really take P3 and P4 seriously. Red wine is my biggest vice...and probably why I gained it all back. The sugars in wine are terrible...my goal after I stabalize my weight is to just enjoy 1 glass of wine with dinner and then just leave it until the next day, not drink the whole thing! lol I am on day 10 of the VLCD. You can see my weight chart below. It has not been easy but this site really helps. I never new about the dosage. With the clinic I went to I was taking 175! I started at 150 this time and lowered it to 130. I don't feel hungry so this must be the right dosage for now. I am doing a 46 day round. I just learned about skipping a dose once a week on this site. Nu Image said I shouldn't skip a dose.....not sure what I should do. I am 5'4 1/2 and before loading was 140 after loading 143.9! I am down about 8.5 pounds so far. I feel better but won't be happy until I see the scale under 130!!!

KMac- I used protein powder the last 2 rounds and did very well with it. I used MRM egg white protein powder. It is very pure, no junk, good sweeteners (non artificial). I researched and chose this brand since eggs are technically allowed OP I felt it was a good option.

Cauliflower mash sounds yummy. I blend my asparagus and broccoli into soups with broth and spices and they are so comforting, creamy and yummy. Need a vitamix or something similar to get right consistency. If you were working out hard before you started you should be ok, otherwise I find that exercising during a round can stall...really I think it's water retention from sore muscles. I'm trying to lose my final 15 lbs. I'm hoping I can do it in a long round (or shorter if I lose it sooner). I'm afraid these last lbs are going to try to hold on for dear life (major set points), but I hope not!! How long of a round are you planning?

Yes, save the wine for P3, it will be here before you know it (as I try to talk myself into believing this ;-)).

Hi and welcome Sandy! Sounds like you are doing great! I think P3 is SO important to do right and where a lot of people screw up. And definitely, you need to skip one day a week!

Freedom- welcome! This is a fabulous protocol for losing weight and getting healthy if you do it correctly.

Freedom--I only remember enjoying loading my first round. (because I ate anything I wanted). However, I learned afterwards that you should concentrate on "good" fats for loading. (which isn't near as fun as "anything goes)!! I struggled with the load too. I think as the HCG kicks in it affects you. Here are a few things I had while "attempting to load. I really didn't eat a lot......just concentrated on FATS for each meal. I didn't have the appetite to snack but when I thought about it......I ate some nuts/cashews. Breakfast---bacon, bread with lots of butter and cheese. Lunch--hamburger, loaded backed potato. Dinner--mexican food (enchiladas), nachos, avocados, I made my favorite sour cream/mayo southwestern dip and splurged on that. Use oils to cook etc......google healthy fats to see if anything strikes your fancy. Make "fats" the central focus. Good Luck!! I've read the better you load (fats) the easier the first few days will be.........of course, I'm VLCD #2 so we will see how that concept works. Yet to be determined for me!!!

Just--blending the veggies sounds great.........I gave my vitimax to my son recently. I do have an immersion blender I use for the cauliflower. Maybe I'll try that too. One of my rounds I started off at 142 lb.--got down to 127 lb. That was pretty slender for me and I LOVED it. However, that was the weight I was in my 30's and now that I'm 52 y/o.........I'm wondering if that is a good look for me?! I can say that those last 5 lbs were definitely HARD to get off. Your body just wants to hold on to the last bit of fat!!!! Unfortunately, I'm starting off at 152 lb. this time. so, I'll be lucky to even get to 142 lb. My PERFECT weight is about 135lb. (IMO). Clearly I have my work cut out for me!! I'm hoping to lose the 20lb and then hit the weights/cardio etc.....I haven't had a trainer in a few years and it DOES make a huge difference in my motivation and follow through. So, I do have a PLAN. Also, if I can't make the necessary adjustments in P3/P4....to hold and stabilize, I shouldn't be going after a weight of 127 lbs......etc. I'm now empty nesting and attempting to get my life in better order!!!

Sandy--you have had an amazing start. Looking forward to following you through the round.

I'm planning to stay fairly strict on protocol. The 2.0 round last fall didn't go well. There were a variety of factors but apparently it isn't strict enough for me or I simply didn't understand the protocol well enough to be successful. (probably the my fault). Anyway, I'm going with what I know has worked for me in the past. That is NO cheating and weighing/measuring everything etc.........

Have a great day everyone. I"m going to take a walk, pay bills and try not to be hungry on VLCD #2!! Kmac

I call that HCG's cruel joke. For me, the HCG kicks in in about an hour or so, and then I have no appetite for the rest of the loading time. I have to force myself to eat. I've learned to plan a huge breakfast right after my first injection so I can at least enjoy that first meal. I basically do what Kmac described. This last time, I loaded mostly low carb and concentrated on the omega 3 fats as much as possible, avoided all my sensitivities. My big splurge for the load was a bag of sweet potato chips and some sourdough bread with gobs of butter. I ate a lot of avocado and nuts. On that load I actually lost a pound. Which I liked a lot. It was so nice to start into the VLCDs with a loss.

KMac- 135 is my goal weight too! I am 148.6 right now. I'm hoping I can get it all off this round, and would love to get 2 or 3 extra lbs off too so I have some wiggle room. I think I will have to do a long round. How long of a round are you planning?
