Thread: February 2018 Loaders - Ready for change

I think Im going to jump in here and start. I did HCG successfully a couple time and Ive kept off most of the weight. Starting years ago at 240 I now hover around 178-176, depending on the day. Id LOVE to get down to 160 and then start toneing. I have one vial of HCG in the fridge from my last round last year (successful weight loss and kept it off but stopped early), and one brand new vial of bac water. So, not out any money other than groceries. Im ready! I need to go shopping but thankfully have tons of lean deer meat in the fridge that should last me this entire round. Chicken and basics. I can do this for 3 weeks LOL Then starting in March Im planning on toneing and getting the flab gone. Loading this weekend and getting ready to roll with it all

Sarah, it IS cruel to be loading and have no appetite. That was the case for me. Instead of stressing, I ate 3 meals per day and had nuts, peanut butter and cheese for snacks. (not big snacks, but bites when I thought about it). I did have a hamburger (which I never eat breads) enchiladas, crusty buttered french bread (again, the bread was a splurge). I made nachos the last night loaded with cheese, sour cream and avocado. I also had a loaded bakes potato one day with cheese, bacon and sour cream. I prefer a 2 day load but because I'm not that hungry I decided to do what my clinic suggests and do a 3 day load. I gained 2 pounds with my load and only concentrated on fats......first 2 days of the low calorie went well. So, I think I loaded well enough. Now, day #3 and #4 were rough!!!!! But, at least the first 2 days were ok. GOOD LUCK!!! Let us know how it goes. KMac

    Good Morning,

VLCD #5 and this is the first morning that I've felt "normal". Whew, the last few days were tough. I did get my B12/Lipo injection yesterday and wondering if that is making the difference this morning. I actually have energy! (I bought 4 of those injections and getting one per week.--my clinic charges $10 each). I'm already having issues with not wanting to eat the food that I had planned. Haven't had any fish yet......can't even think about eating it. YUCK! So, after 4 days of chicken and 99% fat free ground turkey......i'm headed to pintrest this morning for some fresh ideas. If my aversions have started at day 5.....I'm in trouble!! So, I"m going to jump in and intervene with some different meals. I'm 5 lb. down at day 5. Yea me. I looked back and it appears that I have lost 17 lbs. on each of my previous 3 rounds over the last 3 years. So, I'm setting my goal there. I did see where someone lost 25 lbs. in 30 days recently. Oh WOW! That is amazing. I wish I could hit that!!!! But, she did work out at the gym everyday and I typically don't have the energy to do that.....everybody's body is different. sigh.......

Since I"ve got energy, I"m going to do a quick one set round of my Upper Extremity weight routine and see how I do. I"m hoping to be able to do this while on this round.

Good luck to all those loading now that will be joining us in a few days!!!

JUST AND TRACY------how are things going for you two? When I went back to my old records of previous rounds, I was most interested in when I stalled and how long the stall was. UGH, I'm already dreading it!!!! It appears I generally lose about 10 lbs. before I start the stall. So, I figure I have 2-4 days before it hits me. In order to keep myself from getting frustrated when it hits......I'm going to concentrate on the reason for the stall. Leez explains it often in her suggestions/advice. I'm going to tell myself it is NOT because I'm not eating correctly etc.....it's my body managing the change from fat absorption etc........I plan to look back and motivate myself that it DOES end and more weight loss comes behind it.

Happy Friday everyone. Let's stay "super bowl" intentional this weekend!! Luckily, my hubby is working nights and can't drink so we will watch the super bowl like any other sunday night. I may fix a treat for him (but its one I don't care for!).

Hey Sarah and welcome! Congrats on keeping your previous weight loss off! Your are in the right place - Me, KMac and Tracy are all looking to lose around 15 lbs this round. That's awesome that you didnt have to spend any money on supplies. I have 1 vial of hcg but since I think I'm going to end up having to do a long round I started with hhcg that I also already had and plan to switch over to injections in about 3 weeks. So far the hhcg is working great though, so I may just stay the course on it...I'll see how it goes.

Funny, I didn't have an issue with not being hungry on my loading days. Maybe it was because of the hhcg. I totally pigged out for 2 days and gained close to 7 lbs! AlMost all of that came off day 1 though.

I had a 1.6 loss yesterday (day 8), very happy about that!! I was also able to sleep last night, super happy about that!! Maybe that last dose of hhcg does help with sleep. If I think I need to skip again in the future I will be sure to skip either my morning or midday dose.

KMac, I know what you mean about feeling normal again. For me, I felt AWFUL for the first 3 days. Finally felt human on day 4. Sorry to hear you are already having food aversions. Do you like beef? I eat beef every day for 1 meal. I love it and I alwAys lose best when I eat beef. I use the 96% lean. I've been making Thai beef with asparagus, fire roasted chili, crack slaw...I also make some great dishes with chicken. I always make sure that whatever I'm eating tastes good to me. That is key for me staying on track. I like shrimp too.

I hear you on the stalls...dreading them!

    Tracy, where are you?

    TGIF!

I'm here! I had a late start to my day today and just finished breakfast. Two slices of Ezekiel toast with avocado and cheese. Full fat Greek yogurt and blueberries. And my beloved tea with cream and xylitol. I will miss that in the morning! I do like black coffee as long as it's strong.
What to have for lunch, hmmm? There's a gorgeous chunk of Parmesan in the fridge that speaks to me!

    Morning ALL,

I spent some time gathering new recipes yesterday morning and went to grocery. JUST---I do LOVE beef (crave it when I'm on HCG). I researched and bought the leanest types. 96%fat free beef, extra lean sirloin tips etc.....I measured and weighed most and put it in freezer. My only worry.....if my memory serves me is that the beef is slower to digest and I recall having mini stalls when I ate beef in the past. However, common sense tells me that if I'm only eating my 3.5 oz servings......and staying under my 500 calories etc....that regardless of beef slowing down digestively....the protocol will still WORK. I made yummy chili for lunch yesterday (so happy!) (cause i'm FREEZING TO DEATH)! I wanted some beef tips last night but I've decided to just do beef ONCE per day. So, I had a turkey patty with lettuce, tomatoes for dinner. (the ground turkey is 99% fat free so I kinda count it as chicken). And......this morning I was only .2 down. So, coincidence that the lose was really low or simply that I have had great loses the previous 5 days. HA!!! yep, I'm over thinking all this!!!!!!! I always over think, but I think that helps keep me on the straight and narrow!

JUST---the stir fry idea is great, I'm running with that!!

Regardless of the .2 lb. loss......my tummy area is already changing and I can actually see that my tummy area is less. So, I am 100% sure the HCG is working!! Visual evidence along with the FREEZE.......is re-assuring! Also, I felt great yesterday and woke up this morning feeling the same. I"m 149 lb. this morning and day #6.....it's a long way to the 130's and I still gotta deal with the stall that is on the horizon. Wouldn't it be nice to actually NOT have a stall in a round???!!!!!!!! Anyway, I'm feeling steady and strong and determined to stay OP (veggie tweak/protein smoothie on occassion).

Tracy and Sarah.........when do you guys start? Hope you both have easy first few days!!! My first 2 days were good then I had a rough patch for a few days. Hopefully, hitting my stride now.

Happy Saturday everyone. I mentioned that I"m an empty nester now......the house is quite and boring.....kinda good for me right now but a strange adjustment.

    A couple original protocol notes:
    • Turkey is not on protocol and stalls some people. There is no way to know if using turkey will affect your stabilization, even if it doesn't stall you during P2.
    • The popular P2 chili is a recipe that can cause problems because the combination of beef and tomatoes seem to stall some.
    • American beef is technically not on protocol at all because of its fat content. Veal is suggested instead. That being said, some have found they can use bison or venison successfully. It may be possible to get beef that is lean enough these days as well.
    • The chili spice can also be an issue, because peppers are not on protocol, and in fact are warned against. There are numerous reports of hot sauce being problematic, ostensibly because of the peppers.

You may do fine with the above variations, but these are places to look at if you find you are stalling or having poor losses.

It is normal to have a slowdown in the second week of P2, so you also have to take into account where you are on the timeline as well.

To help digest beef or veal, you can try some digestive enzymes meant to help with breakdown of proteins. Papain and bromelaine are good stand-alone ones. Those with low stomach acid can also benefit from some HCL.

Stay warm KMac! This is a tough time of year to deal with that HCG freeze, but it is comforting in its own way because it tells you your fat is on the move. I've never had a round without a stall, but luckily I very seldom experience a gain which a lot of people have to deal with. The gain days are the worst. You know in your head there is no way you could actually gain any fat, but that number on the scale is powerful and can color your whole day.

Let the games begin! Up .2 this morning. Ugh! I hate this happening in week 2. I know we are all different but I've never had an issue with beef or any of the chili or pepper spices and I eat them a lot. I eat spicy chili sauce every day just about. Might be wise though when eating chili to only do 1 fruit that day though. I know on this diet tomatoes are considered a veg but they are technically a fruit, so that adds up to a lot of sugar in one day with 2 fruits too. The chili I make has a full cup of canned tomatoes in it.

Well.......dang it...........I've got some overthinking to do!!!!!!!!!! I appreciate the input and might re-adjust my combination frequency of beef and tomatoes. However, I still don't understand how that combination could be problematic!? But, I've had some amount of tomatoes every day so far. Honestly, what I think it is........and what I remember seeming to have issues with from previous rounds......is the SODIUM. I think I remember having issues with the sodium in the canned tomatoes I use. Which is why I had salt free canned tomatoes in my pantry that I think I tossed out a few months ago!! Next time I make chili.....I'm going to chop my on tomatoes or use salt free hotel tomatoes. I don't use anything canned except the occasional can of diced tomatoes. I'll have to ponder giving up my 99% fat free ground turkey. I used it on previous rounds. I generally make patties out of it and top in with lettuce and tomatoes. It's kinda what gets me thorough because it tastes kinda like a hamburger (not!). I've still not had fish.....not sure I can manage the thought at this point. (I think one of my lowest points ever in a round was eating a piece of fish with some salsa on it with asparagus......I still have that vision of me sitting and staring at my plate thinking.....how do I eat this!!!) YUCK! If I have to give up the turkey and know that beef slows me down, that only leaves me with chicken. Ok, Deep breath. It's only VLCD #6. I think I'll run to Whole Foods and get a good piece of fish and give it a try. It appears I need to push through the fish aversion and quickly!

JUST---if you are up a tiny bit.....you know it's just the GAME!! Good analogy!! In the end, you know you will WIN the game. HCG threw a "curve ball". HA!!! You have a good attitude and are moving on......I'd be like WHY??????????????????. When it happens to me, and it will, I'll remember it is just a part of the game!!

You might try tilapia loins. I get them frozen at Costco. I did research on it, and they are farmed in strictly specified conditions to qualify to be sold by Costco. You don't want the Chinese tilapia as it can be dirty. The flesh has a bit of sweetness, and its not fishy like some other whitefishes. I do them on the Foreman grill with my own cajun spice blend and squeeze a little lemon on before serving.

Shrimp is also an option. When I need a break from chicken and fish in P2, shrimp is a nice change. i make a fresh cocktail sauce out of chopped grape tomatos, vinegar, sweetener, salt and a bit of horseradish. You can use some tomato paste too to thicken a bit.

As to the beef/tomato combo, no one really knows why that is a problem. It is only a known problem because so many have reported it. To a lesser extend, beef and cabbage is another combo that has caused stalls or gains. My guess is that it is probably reported less because so many more people like chili.

You might have hit on something with the sodium content, if that is something you are sensitive to. You might try buying salt-free and using only mineral salt. Many times you will be less sodium sensitive to salt in that form.

I start vlcd1 on Monday. I figured I'd give myself the weekend to prep mentally and meals too lol I plan to make lunches and dinners on Sunday so I'm ready to roll.
A little disappointed tho, I thought I was going to avoid spending more but to do a short round I'm going to need a little more hcg to get me thru. At my current dose it'll last me about 16 shots, not enough for a short round. I ordered one vial already once I figured out the calculations. Thankfully that's the only thing I need, groceries are bought, meat thaw and ready for meal prep. I can do this for 3 weeks!
Not looking forward to next week tho. I have to go pick up hay. That's about 200 bales that will need to be loaded and then unloaded. I may have to increase my protein that day so I can keep up.
