I did too for the first 10 days - drank matcha with lemon every morning but I had an event all day saturday and I was so tired I couldn't resist their iced coffee and it's been downhill with the milk since then! Crazy how one little taste of something can instantly hook you!

Mussels are not on protocol. There is no way to know how it will work for you. If you decide to try them, it would be a personal experiment.

The safest thing to order when in P2 and at a seafood restaurant is broiled white fish with nothing added (season yourself and ask for lemon wedges), or shrimp cocktail and ask for sliced tomatos which would be your "cocktail sauce".

That's why I've been avoiding coffee altogether for this phase now. I'm afraid I'll take it home, and find myself at the fridge adding milk to it. And WAY more than a tablespoon. Maybe if it was only an 8 oz cup a tablespoon of milk would be fine haha. That's another reason I'm trying to make this round somewhat shorter - no idea how I'm going to make it through a 12 hour shift without coffee. I'll have to buy some caffeine pills or something!

Dnalgne, how did your dinner out go? I survived 3 over the weekend, but they were at steak places where it was relatively easy to stay OP food wise. It was more a matter of portion control.
I know exactly what you mean when you say once you get a taste of something it’s downhill. For me that’s carbs, sugar, alcohol. Uggggghhhh! Why does it all have to taste.so.good!

Nice losses loudwheels! If you survived that buffet of bad food by only consuming 2 Cheezits then good for you (I also love the Jack flavored ones!)! It’s hard! I didn’t give up caffeine completely, I couldn’t. I allow myself 1 diet soda a day (one of my small rogue differences). It gets me through the AM without breakfast and without wanted to kill people LOL!

Leez, I saw your NSV on another thread…great job! I’m in the same boat as you…I can either end at D36 if I do 2 skip days or I don’t do skip days, remix and go to 40, wasting about ½ vial. I think I’ll skip tomorrow as planned and decide next week based on my losses.

AFM, D18 I was -1.4, D19 I was +0.2, D20 (today) I am -0.4. I’ve been OP for me so it’s just my typically Week 3 random fluctuations. On VLCD20 I am -17.2 (-0.91/day). No complaints there! I’m hoping to lose 27lbs this round but these last couple of weeks are typically slow going. I’m going to trust the process and see where it takes me.

And...I'm at least HALFWAY through this long round!! Yessssss!

Have a wonderful week July team!

Good idea to wait to decide. You can't predict how you will feel about it until you get there. You're having a great round so far. I hope it continues for you.

MySmoochy - Oh man my dinner was delicious. The restaurant only serves mussel bowls so I opted for one with just tomato sauce, garlic and basil. However, there was definitely olive oil in there and I gained a pound this morning. I knew it was coming and actually thought it might be worse so that softened the blow. On VLCD 17 tho and with the gain back to a 7lb loss. It's moving considerably slow for me this round. AND I am only planning a 25 day round because of some events in August... Last round a couple years ago I lost almost a pound a day. Anyway, back on POP today even tho it will be hard because I had the sweet taste of regular food and oil last night!

MySmoochy - what proteins/veggies have you been eating for your meals?

McSmoochy, I thought about the diet soda thing. But I just hate the taste of artificial sweeteners. So I've been staying away from even Stevia for the most part. My cravings have been mostly for salty things anyways. When I'm working, I usually am on my second coffee by 10 AM. Luckily I've never been a breakfast person (probably part of my issues with the weight gain), so all I've had to do is switch to green tea for now.

Today is my second day in a row of +/- 0, which is better than a gain I suppose, but it's starting to mess with my mind. I'm debating about skipping my off week of BC next week, just so I don't have to stress about a weight change from TOM. I know its allowed when not on HCG, so I don't see why it wouldn't be while on it.

dnalgne, ugggghhh, the hidden oils! When I went out Sunday I was so specific about everything being cooked in no fat and they still brought the 'seasonal vegetable' (broccoli!) with butter. I knew immediately. At least you were mentally prepared for the gain. Now back on track! I've had slow rounds and fast rounds. So many factors to consider. I've had a long break from hCG and have a pretty good amount to lose. I've had plenty of rounds to understand my trigger foods and which rogue things I can get away with. And I know my current daily average isn't going to last (see my AFM at the end!!).

For protein I mix up beef (mostly steak, only occasionally ground beef), chicken and white fish...sometimes crab/lobster or albacore tuna (rogue). I usually start a round eating beef the first week or two but then taper off when my losses slow down. Maybe only 1/week once I hit week 3. Who knows...it all evens out in the end!

loudwheels, I don't really enjoy the taste but the caffeine helps and it makes me feel like I have something in my stomach between 10AM-1PM when I eat lunch. It's terrible for me and I'm trying my best to give it up completely. I don't drink warm drinks of any kind unless I have to.

The slow/no losses are so hard to mentally manage. I'm right there with you. I have to keep reminding myself to trust the process (rinse. repeat.). Good luck whatever you decide to do next week.

AFM, I've been stuck at the same weight for 4 days. Up some, down some, but my weight today is exactly what it was on Sunday....uggggghhhh. I've been staying OP for me so I'm trusting that this is my typical W3 stall and that the losses will catch up. I don't do apple/steak days or any of the other creative stuff people try to break a stall. I just power through it. Today is VLCD21 and I am down 17lbs (-0.85/day).

    Happy Wonderful Wednesday everyone!

Hope I added this to the right place... Just started P2 today....not my first time...I lost 32 pounds two years ago and, sadly, I have gained most of it back. I want this round to be as successful as possible. I am trying to make sure that I don't mess it up. Couple of things that I am not sure of. Drinking some sparkling water and I added stevia and lemon to it...is that ok? Is balsamic vinegar okay? One more question...I remember that you were not to mix veggies. I like pico on my meat especially (Uck) fish. Is that okay?

Hi Maggie, welcome! The great thing about HCG is that it works dependably, when you follow the protocol. I'm sure you'll do great again.

I'll start with the protocol answers to your questions:

You can use the juice of one whole lemon however you like each day.

Tea, coffee, plain water, or mineral water are the only drinks allowed, but they may be taken in any quantity and at all times.

    Stevia or saccharin is fine.

The protocol says vinegar. It doesn't specify a variety.

You are not to mix vegetables at one meal.

OK now the provisionals and experimental choices:
It is likely that any zero calorie sweetener would be fine, except for sugar alcohols, which seem to stall some people.

Fizzy waters can be a problem for some because of sodium content. Some have no problem with them.

Cider vinegar would be the "safest" since apples are on protocol. It's likely that in Italy in the 1950s, people might have routinely used wine vinegar. Even though balsamic vinegar tends to be higher in sugar, in condiment portions like a tsp or so on your tomatos, it would likely be fine.

Others have pico as their vegetable and have done ok. You'll have to try it for yourself and see how you do.

The thing to remember is that the protocol works. Any variations are basically experiments you decide to do on yourself. The experiment may or may not affect your weight loss trajectory (although how would you really know without a baseline round) but the real danger is whether it would affect your ability to stabilize afterwards. Coconut oil has been tried a lot, and the reports show that it is one thing that can seem to help with losses, but then can derail your P3.

I love just putting a little wine vinegar, cracked black pepper, pink salt and chopped fresh cilantro (or fresh sweet basil) on grape tomatos. Its my favorite P2 salad, and goes great with fish. I'm having it tonight, as a matter of fact.

Thanks! Super helpful! Giving up Diet Coke (yet again) and looking for a fizzy replacement. I will try to limit as I do not want ANY STALLS!!!

Actually stalls are normal, and maybe even necessary. It appears that those that experience long stalls (up to 10 days is not uncommon) have an easier time stabilizing in P3. My take on this phenomena is that as you lose fat, your body works to equalize your water stores by filling the empty fat cells with water, which then releases at some point along the way. What that looks like on the scale is a stall. If this doesn't happen in P2, then it can happen in P3 and cause all kinds of scale volatility. And then you don't know if you are reacting to food sensitivies, or just having a water fluctuation.

My suggestion: embrace the stall. It always breaks. And then you get a nice whoosh which restores your daily loss average.
